PoliticsRe: British Parliamental System Of Government Vs The American Congressional System by lafuria1(m): 7:29am On Sep 22, 2014
Symphony007: I think the british parliamentary system is better! It makes for more accountability as party leaders get to debate themeselves regularly. It is more efficient as the ruling party governs without obstruction from the opposition. Elections are fought over ideology and performance of a party, not if you like who will be the prime minister because he can be changed by the party anytime.

Congress Is a cumbersome and slow governing system. There is also a tendency that no single party will control the presidency, senate and house of representatives, so it gives the opposition powers to obstruct the policies of the ruling party( this has been the hallmark of the obama presidency)... Elections are at times not fought over policies but which presidential candidate is more likable or has nicer hair. The president is not accountable to congress, only his cabinet ministers are. Governing is very slow as every bill must pass two houses of congress and it's harder when two parties control each house. There are many more.....
You spoke my mind, accountability is what I love about parliament. Imagine our president going to senate and having to explain for hours why certain issues are not resolved. Sometimes I feel sorry for uk prime minister where someone would tell him he isn't doing his job.

EducationRe: Ebola: NUT Asks Teachers To Ignore Sept. 22 by lafuria1(m): 7:02am On Sep 17, 2014
NUT are just tactically trying to remove blame from themselves in the future. There is no reason why they shouldn't resume given how the federal government and lagos state government have controlled the Ebola crisis. They teachers don't want to be blame in the future should any student or pupils contact Ebola (but how would that happen), they will say the government failed to provide them with the necessary facilities.

Or better still don't send your kids to school till after Ebola
SportsRe: Oscar Pistorius Found Guilty Of Manslaughter by lafuria1(m): 10:54am On Sep 12, 2014
That was expected even though the prosecutors wanted guilty for murder charge. To me the judge did well. It's left for the prosecutors to either appeal or not.

Domestic violence , either way it goes, the women always get benefits of the doubt which unfortunately some tend to abuse it.

anyaekekehinde: Anger,
True, anger , but anger is very hard to prove in court of law without real time video evidence. Just like accusing a white person of killing a black person because of racism, how can it be proven that was racism the instigated the killing.

Things of the heart are difficult to prove, he could have killed her out of jealousy or suspicion of her cheating.

freecocoa: Yea well, whatever be the case, that dude must be put in jail for something or else, that judge should sleep with no eyes closed after her verdict.

Find him guilty of neglecting his girlfriend or something, going about the house shooting without caring who gets shot should be an offense. angry
Of course, he isn't going to walk free but had he been found guilty of premeditated first degree murder, the sentence could be life imprisonment.

He would be guilty of manslaughter which has a lesser punishment than murder.
CelebritiesRe: Oscar Pistorius Trial: Judge Delivering Verdict, LIVE by lafuria1(m): 11:29am On Sep 11, 2014
I'm just thinking, if indeed I plan to kill my girlfriend, as a a celebrity, why won't I hire an assassin to carry out the killing with no trace. Why do it in my room with my own gun.....

He did murder his girlfriend but did he plan? This the question of which the judge says no.

EducationRe: Reps Want Sept 22 Schools’ Resumption Date Changed by lafuria1(m): 1:52pm On Sep 10, 2014
Kizmarty: are you serious about that or you just looking for my mouth?

smhsad
I'm serious, lot of teachers are out there without salary, they can't get paid for sitting at home. So we expect them to just bear it. We are lucky the Ebola virus has been contained to barest minimum, if public places like market and universities are not closed down, why should the primary and secondary school be.
EducationRe: Reps Want Sept 22 Schools’ Resumption Date Changed by lafuria1(m): 1:40pm On Sep 10, 2014
Kizmarty: what makes sense thenhuh

shifting the resumption has more than enough advantages.
What are the advantages?
EducationRe: Reps Want Sept 22 Schools’ Resumption Date Changed by lafuria1(m): 1:27pm On Sep 10, 2014
Seriously postponing the resumption date doesn't make sense.

We are just going about this all thing in wrong way. What are we trying to achieve by postponing the resumption date for secondary and primary schools? Protect the children? Wha makes the children more vulnerable to Ebola in school than when when they are at home?

Why are public places still wide open, if the government truly cares about containing Ebola, why not close than public places like banks, markets, work places.

For a child to contact a Ebola, he has to make contact with an adult, what is the government doing to ensure theses adult don't contact Ebola.

The north and part of east, west, and south have no reported case of Ebola, why should their schools remain close?
PhonesRe: Apple Unveils The 4.7-inch Iphone 6 With Retina HD Screen by lafuria1(m): 7:58am On Sep 10, 2014
No reason to get emotional in defence of apple. Truth be told , Iphone users would love to see an upgrade in the phone specs. When i first had an ipad mini, I berated the specs, ram was just 512mb , camera was 5mp. After using it for s while, I came to realise its not about specs, the camera in broad day light was better than 8mp Samsung sII. I never had issues with the speed.

PoliticsRe: Adamawa Polls: Ribadu, Others Step Down For 2015 by lafuria1(m): 10:30am On Sep 05, 2014
Sweetlemon: You'd really believe anything! When was the last time a politician (especially a PDP politician) agreed to agreements in Nigeria?

u.
Exactly my thought, ribadu placing his trust on whatever agreement he made with pdp or fintiri is very naive, I mean trust is not part of a Nigerian politician. The moment they taste power, it very hard to relinquish it.

Pdp had several agreement in the past which was what led to the crisis in pdp leading to the formation of G5. Likewise gej insisted he won't contest for the 2015 elections but here we are.

RomanceRe: Photos: This Guy Proposed To His Girl In Shoprite, Ikeja Lagos by lafuria1(m): 4:54pm On Sep 01, 2014
Nigerians, we are sometimes just bitter for no reason. If those couples were white, most of you criticizing them will react differently.
Proposing in this nature is meant for the public to see, prove to her that you can let the world know she is getting married to you. It takes different form. They chose shop rite because they wanted lot of people to see it.
You guys should chill, if you don't like it, warn your boyfriend not to attempt it.

If you want to start a fresh doing same course, not a good idea, better just go on with your master degree. But if you want change field of study then starting afresh is alright as long as you're comfortable with it age wise. Your age is a factor too.

Do they monitor chats as well. People don't have to communicate via a phone call to pass messages. With the public knowing of this info from ncc, evil doers will simply stick to BBM chat and that isn't easy to monitor.
