You can confirm that ISN underwent formal training in apprehending kidnappers and robbers? what exactly is the scope of their mandate? what evaluation (present/historical) was done to guarantee that these new stock of security-men do not over-step their boundaries. Let us not try to be emotional about issues that involve the lives of human beings, let us look at this issue realistically. If the Imo state Government did not institute proper framework for training, compensation, logistics, arms and ordinance, funding and expansion, it won't be any different from bakassi boys, OPC and the likes, it is a no-brainer.

I have seen the Sharia Police in Action @ Obalende during a prayer session. The Lagos State Government has instructed all persons engaging in any sort of ceremony, prayer or social activity not to obstruct the road and allow road users safe passage. Guess what, the Sharia Police claim that Allah owns the whole world including Lagos and they have the right not only to turn away road-users during prayers but to also detain them until prayers are completed and even violently harass them.
I cannot recount how many times OPC have killed innocent citizens or Bakassi boyz in Aba back in the days.. ISN will turn out the same FACT

1: What sort of training is in place
2: What sort of research was done to validate the creation of this outfit
3: will they be armed or just carry kondo stick
4: Who will they report to and how will their actions be monitored

History has shown that idealists are dangerous to humanity. Yes Ideals are the height of socio-philosophical virility. We must be careful not to become blissfully ignorant of present realities of life. It is like wanting to make Heaven on Earth. with the decadence and natural selfishness and individualism of man, it simply won't work. Capitalism ensures that the fittest (smartest) survive and this is quite important if societies and cultures will continue to flourish. where this is absent you get phenomenons like North Korea, former soviet union and china flourishing in human rights abuse, economic distortions and turbulence from being fairly isolated from majority capitalist nations.

But really this is not what Fashola is doing. He is simply ruining ACN from the inside because he intends to jump ship come 2015. with the confidence of Lagosians totally in tatters.. no one has to look to far to see Jagaban as the true cause of the ills in Lagos. it is already happening and as long as the 1-eyed oracle of bourdillion continues in his selfish and greedy quest for a kingdom without loyal servants.

naptu2: 1) Agberos are illegal in Lagos (Amended Lagos State Traffic Law). If you watched STV News yesterday night you would have heard about the agberos that were arrested, charged to court and sentenced to perform community service.

2) Alternatives exist for anybody that is interested. On saturday I drove past the Lagos State Skills Acquisition Centre in Surulere (we took a detour because of Eko Marathon).

3) Video/films sold, rented or shown in cinemas in Nigeria must be approved and classified by the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board. Those pornographic films have not been approved and vendors of such films are usually prosecuted by NFVCB officials whenever they are caught.

There's also a Lagos State law that makes it illegal to display such films publicly.

Good initiatives no doubt, but like someone once noted on Nairaland (i fail to recollect). is there a Strategic DNA-approach to reforming (rebuilding) Lagos?. Lagos is like a multiple-injury/multiple-accident tourist with multiple doctors treating different injuries regardless (seemingly regardless) of how one treatment impacts negatively or positively on the other. It is a case of cure one ailment here and expose another there. unfortunately the sheer size of unskilled (non tax-paying) human capital in Lagos makes it difficult to sustainably empower youths without the growing pressure from the continuing inflow of people from different parts of Nigeria in search of greener pastures.

The greater challenge is not implementing reformative initiatives.. it is ensuring that such initiatives do not create newer problems as it solves present ones.
I can understand arresting Area-boys, but charging them to court/community service.. Tax-payers monies can be used more constructively, (and with synergy) besides I (sincerely) doubt the number of Agberos arrested has created a dint in their population (and unfortunate negative impact on general society). LASG has simply pushed the Agberos from one source of livelihood into another (dangerous) source of livelihood.. they will simply constitute a dangerous nuisance to people who actually contribute to LASG's continued existence. with paltry security forces and under-used CCTV.

LASG can re-prioritize their priorities. Tackling the easiest and most visible should be swapped for tackling the fundamental and deep-impacting. LASG is treating symptoms rather than foundational causes. I doubt this will be sustainable without huge financial implications (debts more like) to LASG

My humble thoughts

in the end humans (religious folks especially) are simply lazy in spirit and in mind and body. hoping that they will receive that big basket of cash/successes for simply investing in the Heavenly MLM program. I have fun every morning guilt-tripping the driver behind me into dropping some change for the beggars on the Marina. once we hit traffic you can see them itch as i throw down a fifty or hundred to the kids. give em a couple of seconds and the guilt starts seeping in.. you could get at least 5-6 cars behind you doing the same thing. I'd feel a lot better giving to orphanages (kids God cares little about going by present trends) than have the Church decide which and where to spend my money

my 300 is a lot of .. sorry bunch of people.. you must have the means and wherewithal (YES I finally used that word ) why not take the wedding some place they cannot afford to get to.. Bahamas..

with the Delta State Gov involved in victim recovery I am suspicious.. he could offer $2 billion and get $1billion kick-back needed to demolish that mole hill.. let us watch as it unfolds.. Mr. Uyi believes truly that God can make new limbs but we are sorely lacking in a good number of amputees at deliverance crusades.. whatever happened to church workers who visit orphanages and prisons, at least take some time out to heal one amputee. I know some good Christians who lost their limb(s) due to an accident

Let us look deeply into our conscience and honestly answer the question God will not answer come hell or high-weather.
1: Why (even in Biblical times) has God not healed amputees. I am sure they were tonnes of them those days with incessant territorial wars and stuff
2: Why would God bless a prayerful family with Twins and while they are out worshiping him, he allows evil men kidnap the twins never to be seen again (Why)
3: Why does God allow innocent children to be hacked to death, doused with petrol and burnt.. Why (can God truly visit generations of sins on one poor innocent child? ..WHY)
4: Why would a family go to Church to pray to God and have Boko-Haram end their lives summarily. If God foresaw some Evil in their near future and wanted to take them to heaven, could he not have used the flying chariots like Elijah or was it Elisha..

When we refuse to answer simple, honest questions and proceed to make statements like
1: "You have an evil covenant that is killing your babies"
2: "Your great grandfather refused to pay tithe or acknowledge God's blessings in his Life.. you are paying for it now (suckerrr!)
