If you are not an ACN member you cannot dictate what ACN does. If ACN decides to field Remi Tinubu so be it. You have a choice in Voting for NCP, Action Alliance or APGA if you want. |

Gbawe: Paddy mi , we want Remi Tinubu in 2015 . We Lagosians want her ! Fashola would not deprive us of our choice, Fashola was picked so he has no moral right to stop Tinubu from selcting who he wants. Fashola would try to influence who succeeds him but i think he will fail as long as he is in ACN. We want REMI TINUBU |

Gbawe: I want Remi in the seat in 2015 , i think it will be a great idea. Why would she not be accepted by Lagosians, if it is the same lagosians in a sentorial district that voted her into the Senate. Fashola will only have a say in who succeeds him, if he leaves ACN. As long as he is in ACN, Tinubu rules, Tinubu has the party strucutre in his hands. A LCDA chairman in Lagos has to get the nod from Tinubu before he is given the ticket. The LCDA chairman controls the LG ACN chairman who in turn controls the Ward leaders , who in turn delievr the wards for the party in conjuction with the NURTW guys (glorified Agbero). Remi Tinubu for 2015 is a wonderful idea and would be a good candidate for ACN. Tinubu should please follow the steps of the clintons. Thenext 4 years will be hot in Lagos as there will be clashes between Fashola and Tinubu again but Fashola will never have control of ACN Lagos. We want Remi Tinubu in 2015 please!!! |

I am wondering myself. Jimi has maybe retired from active politics , otherwise i see no reason why he did not contest for a senatorial position. |

Buhari is a man I love for his integrity, courage and selflessness. He is one of the only tiny people in Nigeria who can stand the test of time when it comes to abuse of office and issues relating to corruption. Buhari is a man whose words could be taken to the bank and the only other person i have this kind of respect for was Gani Fawehinmi (May God bless his soul). Buhari should be completely detached from what some youths did in the north, Buhari went on TV stations to condemn the violence, to distance CPC from the burning of churches and killing of corpers. However, the PDP led govt and GEJ supporters used the opportunity to score cheap political points by heaping blame on Buhari. Buhari lost in 2003 riots never broke out, Buhari lost in 2007 he never called for riots. The youths felt cheated by their elites of which they suffered the biggest loss, emir of Kano and Zazzaus palace were burnt which has never happened in the north. PDP muslim hausas politicans houses were burnt like Ghallin Naaba, Bashir Tofa, Alh Galdima in Kano. The elections were rigged in the north SS and SE. Christian youth also razed muslim villages in Kaduna and thousands were displaced in the process. The blame i put on the doorstep of the FG who is saddled with the responsibility to provide security for Nigerians. The riots started as a pure political issue and how it turned to burning of churches i have no clue. This is the problem when millions of almajiris have been left without good education. The chicken is coming home to roost and if the northern elites and FG do not start massive education for their children the worst is yet to come. For the Peoples General I support him 100% but we have lost the election and we move on to strategise for 2015. |

Congrats to all that made it happen. Oyo state will be very interesting in the next 4 years because there will be healthy competetion in the state which is what i like. One party dominating a whole state is not particularly a good catalyst for governance, although in some cases it can work well. Oyo state has acord party, PDP and ACN in the house of assembly which makes it interesting as issues will be debated thouroughly and the governor will always be kept on his toes which might translate into good governance. |

No land can be wiped off the surface of the earth. The land is Gods land and has been there before the creation of man and will be there until God decides to roll it away. Israel as a country with its current borders is not right and if the wiping you refer to is wiping the borders of the current state of Israel away from the current map then I say yes. The statement actually said by Ahmedinejad was “Israel should be wiped off the MAP” but many commentators have twisted it to mean “off the earth” which has no meaning. The state of Israel can exist and have a right to exist but as long as it is on the 1948 borders that was drawn out by the UN in 1947. Any additional borders is stolen land that has to be returned. However, the Palestinians have accepted for Israel to move into its borders of 1967 but the arrogant state of Israel does not want to. |

Politics / Re: Meet Your Next President -2015- by Lagosboy: 4:25pm On Apr 26, 2011 |
I am talking based on the current political dynamics, i am not basing my statement on wishful thinking. ACN has no viable structure in the northern part of Nigeria, ACN has no viable structure in the SS . If a northern candidate emerges , the north would vote for him and if a SE candidate emerges as well the SE will vote. ACN can never win any presidential election in this country except it goes into an alliance with another party. ACN fielded a northerner in Ribadu and could not get up to 800000 votes in the whole of the north out of a possible 18 million who voted. How will Fashola a southerner win an election in the north without a strucuture on ground. The mistake most of us in the SW especially make is that we see the world from our perspective alone . The same way Buhari could not make in roads to the south will be the same way Fashola will not make inroads into the north. Let us put perfomance aside because , the Nigerians we have today will not vote based on perfomance . The independent minded voters who vote based on perfomance do not win an election rather it is the lower echelon of the society that deliver the votes that win an election. |

Politics / Re: Ribadu Set To Dump Acn For Cpc . by Lagosboy: 12:35pm On Apr 26, 2011 |
Gbawe: Haba Gbawe , why do you have to attack us like this. Most of us have issues with ACN based on bad practices in the party and nothing more . If these practices are stopped not a few folks would be happy to associate themselves with ACN as well. It is wrong IMO to paint people like that especially when the disagree with views based on principles. One thing i find amusing is that many people here on NL look at issues from a southern point of view only and it us all about Buhari and the other CPC guys need to form alliance and work with guys down south. One thing we forget as well is for ACN to win any presidential contest in this country they need to forge alliances and work with popular politicans in the north which is Buhari and whomever he supports. It is a two way thing and we need them just as they need us. For the credible poltiicans in the north to work with ACN, ACN has to stop the bad practices they practice and the influence of Tinubu whittled down. |

gokuu: Of course I know this and I agree with you that if SLS goes to the polls today he will lose in a big way. I have only given a postulations and it all depends on SLS himself. If he decides to run , he then needs to become a politician full time and start to play the game of politics in order to rally support and build a political base. This was the mistake Ribadu made and it was in fact naivety coupled with hasty ambition on Ribadus part. At the age of 50 he is no longer a boy or youth and should have had the patience to build a structure in his base before forging any alliance with anyone. |

revomind: When we debate please it is better we avoid being carried away by sentiments. How can you say that what pedigree in terms of administrative capability does Sanusi have. Is being the governor of CBN Nigeria (with 150 million people) administering trillions of Naira and being in charge of the country´s economy a secretarial duty ? I have not devalued Fashola in any way and I stated in categorically I have put that postulations in the context of a northern president in 2015. Sanusi is probably the first Nigerian to address a select committee of the US congress, one of only two Africans to be included in the Time 100 influential people 2011 and you call him a neophyte. I can only see one sentiment in your analysis which is tribalism otherwise what has “born to rule “ got to do with our discussions here. I am no northerner but I acknowledge bright minds wherever they are. In fact what pedigree did Fashola have before 2007 , if your kind of analysis is correct then bright minds will never have the opportunity to show their capabilities, what administrative pedigree did Ameachi have before 2007 , last time I checked he was only the speaker of the house before that. Please objectivity is really needed when we discuss the progress of Nigeria. Saying Dora Akunyili has a better resume than Sanusi is a crime against intellectuality. |

ekt_bear: I am not a proponet of zoning but it think it will be extremely unfair for the south to produce the president again in 2015. I know GEJ will contest again but having a Northern president should be the ideal thing IMO. |
Politics / Re: Ribadu Set To Dump Acn For Cpc . by Lagosboy: 5:07pm On Apr 25, 2011 |
Gbawe: very true , it all depends on him , i am only thinking of those who can take Nigeria to the next level. ekt_bear: I really dont think the CPc name can be damaged like that in the south. If PDP as bad as it is can win an election in this country with 22 million votes, i personally think with good governance of CPC governors and progressive minded guys at the helm of affairs things will go well for them. The PDPs objective was to damage the CPC brand anyway and they acheived that amongst shallow minded people in the south of the country. Anyway time will tell. |

One man i Pray joins politics is SLS, I so much wish after his term expires he joins politics and contests for the 2015 election. Ribadu and El Rufai should work with him and Buhari should endorse him. SLS with a deputy from the SW like Fashola will perform wonders for Nigeria. Maybe Fashola himself should leave ACN and join CPC midway into his 2nd term tenure. That will surely leave tinubu in the lurch. I hope i havent touched a nerve in Gbawe |
Politics / Re: Ribadu Set To Dump Acn For Cpc . by Lagosboy: 4:39pm On Apr 25, 2011 |
Gbawe: Bro, you will make a good spin doctor , i remember Alistair Cambell and Balir at the iraq enquiry right now . You have put it in a very nice way , but let us not use sugar cover am. What really happened was that Ribadu dioscovered ACN was all about Tinubu and his head was shaven in his absense. Like i said from the begining , he made the wrong choice of which events have proven and Ribadu himself has confirmed by seeking his political future elsewhere. Gbawe as an ACN guy i think you should sincerely work within the party to effect chnages in its internal culture, there is a limit to where the current culture can take the party to. I am only giving constructive criticism and i hope the powers that be in your party listens. People are not foolish and cannot be taken for a ride for too long , Nigerians forget too soon and all the good works of a politician can be forgotten in one day as a result of a bad political move. Ask Lateef Jakande who is still the best governor Lagos has produced. |

This was my comment last week on the thread: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-649066.0.html#msg8153396 Ribadu has been severly damged politically and the earlier his supporters realise this the better. It will do him a lot of good to perhaps join CPC and start to build a base of his own in the north as some people in the SW might always accept him. He needs to shake off the Tinubu stigma now in order to bounce back stronger. |
