I still prefare the lagbus to the brt.
The only good thing about the brt buses is the aircondition.
They are So unorganised ,time means nothing to them.
In fact there is now à saying amongst commuters of ikorodu tbs axis that the brt is meant for those that intends to be late to their destination .
Honestly the lagbus as far as i am concerned is far more efficient than the brt.

firstly, u said a patient is good to go when seen by house officer... lol.. just tell me yes or no.. can an house officer carry out a procedure on you? ... so even an emergency patient will severe case will undergo house officer to medical officer and reg and senior reg before consultant clerking?...

there are several clinics in a standard teaching hospital... only 2 clinics (GOPD and Staff clinic) where are like primary health center use medical officers to attend to patients because most cases brought in to those clinics are minor cases like malaria and the likes... those with major cases are immediately given referral letter to the appropriate clinic , which are the other clinics in that hospital and they are called COPD or Specialist Clinics (e.g MOP, SOP, E.N.T, Ophthal..... etc). medical officers are not specialists not to talk of the house officers which are juniors to medical officer....

Firstly, are you a doctor??

Secondly, I am not using private hospital setting, how many private hospitals employ house officers, except maybe EKO hospital and St. Nicholas hospital, and some others....

And yes, a house officer is the first doctor seen once the patient has been identified as needing specialist care, go and ask any other doctor or health care provider. We are not talking about staff clinic or GOPD. The staff clinic is meant for hospital staff, the GOPD is meant for "cold cases" I.e patients with malaria, upper respiratory tract infection, diarrhoea, etc....

And yes, no matter how severe the emergency is, the house officer has been trained to stabilize, secure IV access, collect samples, then take history, examination and inform the registrar, who assess and informs senior registrar, who in turn informs the consultant. If the consultant is informed first, the senior reg down to the HO would get queries......

I say all this because I have been in the system, no patient that comes to the hospital doesn't go through me first as a house officer, I do all the stuff and inform my registrar, that's how it's done in other teaching hospitals....

You all should remember that this article is talking about AMERICAN NURSES and NURSE PRACTICIONERS, who are nurses that have undergone advanced training to the extent that they can now diagnose common ailments and prescribe drugs, since doctors are scarce everywhere....

Please NEVER compare a foreign trained nurse to one nurse that finished from school of nursing.....

The only nurses I really give respect and regards are the graduate nurses, they went to the university, did a five year course, learned the real art and practice of nursing, there their training can be at par with the American nurses...

All other auxiliaries and those lazy "school of nursing" nurses need to take a chill pill......

1) salary is modest and tax-free, I believe starters may earn about 150k

2) you wear the normal immaculate white or navy blue, and you are an officer, not a rank-and-file category, so you may start with sub lieutenant or lieutenant.....

Comparing the security guard of a bank to a house officer is like comparing the confidential secretary of a law firm to a fresh barrister...

But hey, a fresh barrister can still represent you at a court of law!!!!

That's just how health care is. You first see the house officer, he clerks you, takes history, performs physical examinations, makes an initial assessment, takes samples, orders for investigations, draw a preliminary treatment plan, and the finally inform his registrar/Medical officer....

The registrar goes through the clerking, dots i's and crosses t's, and informs the senior registrar, who does the same until the consultant is informed, who gives his final verdict, which all members of the team, including the house officer, follows to the marrow.....

So in essence, no consultant would ever review a patient unless the house officer sees, then the registrar and so forth....
