It baffles the mind why people would deny or claim the obvious that Yoruba are not the only ones, they are the father of Yoruba or Yoruba land belonged to them. How many ethnic group in the whole world, send anyone born outside their land by a different ethnic group to represent them as leader as Yoruba sent Azikiwe to Ibadan in the Western House? No wonder he dreamed he and his people were born to rule. If you mention one Hausa or Fulani village personality in the 18 or 19th century that you elevated to Mayor today in Enugu or so, that you burned his house and sent his family packing. I will knock you head. Some of you even used Military posting of Military governors as examples. Tell us which ethnic group did in the world, apart from Colonization. Which Ethnic group established many First in Africa which some countries could not achieve in Europe. Many of you love Yoruba and Yoruba love you back. YORUBA: THE ETHNIC GROUP THAT REJECTED THEIR PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE We have heard so much about ethnic strife and loyalty in Africa and Europe based on tribe. We saw it in Yugoslavia, Myanmar etc. and lately in Ukraine. The only Ethnic group in most parts of our ethnic world that has ever rejected their own son and kin as the Presidential candidate while voting for others, are the Yoruba of West Africa. Yet, it is not yet Uhuru since some Africans have become selfish as cash mules that care less about their people. Unexpectedly, repressed tribal politics has also raised its ugly head in the United States of America. Well, it has always been there, the last United States Presidential Election just boiled to the surface what has been brewing for a long time since the end of their Civil War. It is doubtful if they ever recovered from the vestiges of slavery. But they have taken strides to reach the goal of an equitable society. Africans and scholars in world universities always use the Yoruba as case study for their civilization, tolerance and accommodation. Nigerians also hold them up to their values and egalitarian system whenever they stray out of line. There may be debate of the falling standard in a country that realized Oil Income windfall since the Arab Oil Embargo of 1972. History must be restored and taught earlier in primary schools. Definitely, the Europeans have whitewashed history. They painted Upper Egypt (actually Sudan) white and demonize every Civilization before theirs. Africans taught the Greeks civilization and the Greeks taught the Romans that taught Northern Europeans, called Barbarians. Do you call the destruction of Africa into Dark Continent for 500 years, trying to exterminate American Native Indians and lately the first to use nuclear, bombing the Asians; civilization? Violence is a crude behavior demonstrated even by low animal without intelligence. It is instinctual behavior demonstrated by crude animalistic domination that could not reasonably find solutions. Even just before secession of Biafra, which was one of the lowest points in Ndi-Igbo history, more people throughout their Country empathize with them. More youths in the schools were supporting Ojukwu until the war actually started. Unfortunately, many events did overshadow the story of bravery of men and women that took unusual risks on both sides. These risks, in and outside Biafra enclave never gain enough traction or respect after the war. It has got to a point where all the stories we hear about are those that hate the Igbo and who the Igbo hate. These stories are packaged and re-told over and over again to create more animosity for future generation. There are so many out there, one would think Nigerians never loved one another throughout their history and only married casualties of war to express dominance. Going back to the East and leaving your loved ones behind was a very difficult and emotional decision for interethnic couples and their children. This was why some Yoruba and Hausa had to follow their families back to the East. Unfortunately, only very few of those confidential families “secret” during the war (were told) dare tell; some are reluctant even today in the East. Those who did are not enough. Those who never wish Yoruba well are at it again. Obasanjo came and brought Igbo out of the dog house since the end of the War. They called him detribilized Nigerian. Jonathan, a Biafran, came and turn his Government into Igbo and Southsouth Government telling who did not like it to go to blazes. He called Obasanjo that made him, a motor park tout. Jonathan made Dansuki Father Xmas to placard the North. Remember: our money we spend it anyway we want. Buhari came and filled all positions with those he trusted and stole more than Abacha because Abacha never stole (enough)! Tinubu who most Yoruba cannot stand as reflected in Osun and Lagos outsmarted all of us and became the President. Since day one, you would rather see another Buhari or Jonathan than ANY Yoruba. You prefer a coup than Tinubu. You want Court to make anyone but Yoruba the President. Tinubu has barely been there for 100 days. You refused him honeymoon period you gave every head of state including military. This is not about Tinubu or his character that Yoruba disapproved BUT HATE for anything YORUBA. Awo wrote a letter to Ironsi while Ojukwu was governor that he could have been released if he accepted to work with the North like Akintola, but he refused on principle. One would have thought that anyone that was bent on working with the East rather than the North, would gain his release from prison as Ironsi took over. No, it was to their delight if Awo rot away in prison. Gowon finally did and released Awo from Federal prison. Ojukwu, like his typical kinsmen rush to claim credit. There is no doubt that Dangote is favored by Any Party In Power. Even when Dangote tried to lower cement price to 1,500 at one point, a dealer in Akure was almost lynched for selling his cement at a lower price. But Dangote, a chronic capitalist shares his profits with every government in power. Ibeto could have lowered his cement price and still make profit. Look at Innoson, why is his cars more expensive than imported cars? He even sells at lower price in other African countries willing to patronize him like Dangote.
