There are skepticisms in some quarters especially in Christian community of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, kaduna State, over a perceived letter of threat written to the Dunamis Church, demanding for details update of religious institutions of the church within the State, by Nasir El-Rufai led administration.




Kaduna state government through the State Urban Planning Development Agency, KASUDA, had prior to Presidential and National elections wrote Dunamis Church, requesting it to furnish the KASUDA with details update of the religious institutions within Kaduna State.

Reacting to the threat letter, CAN Kaduna chapter, had, in a letter cautioned Governor Nasir El--Rufai, describing it as a threat to demolish Dunamis churches located in the State, adding that Christian will resist any attempted persecution.

The defence counsel in the ongoing trial of five suspected armed robbers that killed innocent citizens in Offa robbery, Barrister Mathias Emeribe, has cried out over how some people are sending him life threatening messages in related to the case.

He was however absent at the Court yesterday in continuation of the case and as result the hearing could not continue.

The accused people standing trial were all brought to the court yesterday, Tuesday, they are : Ayoade Akinnibosun, Ibikunle Ogunleye, Adeola Abraham, Salaudeen Azeez and Niyi Ogundiran.

Prosecution counsel, Professor Wahab Egbewole, who had earlier announced the absence of the defence counsel in court on Tuesday, said that Emeribe called and sent text message to him on what he described as “life threatening experience on the road” and suggested adjournment, which the court eventually granted.

The small, gas-rich state of Qatar said Monday that it will leave the oil cartel on January 1 after nearly 60 years of membership. The country's state oil company, Qatar Petroleum, made the announcement in a series of tweets.
"The withdrawal decision reflects Qatar's desire to focus its efforts on plans to develop and increase its natural gas production," Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the country's minister of state for energy affairs, was cited as saying in one of the tweets.
Qatar is the world's leading exporter of liquified natural gas, accounting for about 30% of global demand.

Some retired Civil Servants in Kaduna State have been arrested for allegedly organising prayers against Nasir el-Rufai, governor of the state.

The workers claimed they were not paid their entitlements after they were disengaged by the Kaduna government.

Known as “Alqunuci”, the Islamic prayer is said to be powerful and is invoked by those seeking justice.

Emmanuel Dogo, leader of Kaduna state Retired Workers Forum, alleged that, El-Rufai ordered the arrest of his retired colleagues.

Dogo said the retirees resorted to the prayer because they could no longer cater for their families.

National Chairman of the All Progressives Party, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomole on Thursday night raised the alarm that some aggrieved members of the party are working in tandem with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to sack him.

Reaction to a rash of reports about alleged bribe taking during the APC primaries, Oshiomhole said through Simon Ebegbulem, his Chief Press Secretary that the reports were the handiwork of disgruntled persons aimed at maligning his hard-earned reputation.

However, he acknowledged that there were attempts to compromise him during the primaries but kept his reputation intact by insisting on credible primaries.

Despite the desolation order issued by the national headquarters of the APC on the Zamfara state executive of the party, Governor Abdulaziz has in a press briefing this evening, said the national secretariat of the party has no such power to affect such sack order.

He said the party national chairman Mr. Adams Oshimole "is too small to do that, adding that Oshimole is acting on his own and he will not obey his instruction.

A pregnant goat has died after allegedly being gang raped by a group of eight men.


The animal's horrified owner told police he caught the men in the act after being alerted to her pain-filled bleating, reports The Tribune .

The owner, named only as Aslup, said he then discovered the goat had died.

Twenty-eight candidacies, including the 85-year-old incumbent President Paul Biya, have been registered for Cameroon’s October presidential election.

Biya has been the President of Cameroon since 6 November 1982.

A native of Cameroon’s south, Biya rose rapidly as a bureaucrat under President Ahmadou Ahidjo in the 1960s, serving as Secretary-General of the Presidency from 1968 to 1975.

He was Prime Minister of Cameroon from 1975 to 1982 and succeeded Ahidjo as president upon the latter’s surprise resignation in 1982 and consolidated power in a 1983–1984 failed attempted coup where he eliminated all his rivals.

The world's oldest active fighter pilot, a grandfather of four, has retired and taken his last flight at the age of 66.
Squadron Leader Phillip Frawley of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has served for more than 49 years -- over half of the RAAF's 97-year lifespan. He took his final flight last month and has officially stepped down, according to an RAAF statement released Thursday.
"It's been a special day but all things come to an end -- that's what's happened to me today," Frawley said in the statement. "It has been wonderful, absolutely wonderful."

A former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Aloysious Katsina-Alu, is dead.

He was 76 years old.

Information provided to Nigerian pilot by multiple sources on Wednesday morning said Mr Katsina-Alu died after a brief illness in a hospital in Abuja.

Awassam Bassey, the Special Assistant on Media to the current CJN, Walter Onnoghen, confirmed Mr Katsina-Alu’s death.

Mr Bassey said he received a text message from the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Hadizat Mustapha, regarding the death of Mr Katsina-Alu on Wednesday morning.

The All Progressives Congress candidate in the Ekiti State governorship election, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has won the poll held on Saturday.

From the results of the 16 local government areas in the state, Fayemi defeated his closest rival, Prof. Kolapo Olusola of the Peoples Democratic Party, in 12 LGAs.

Fayemi polled 178,913 while Olusola scored 178,114 votes.

A member of the rescue team stationed at the entrance of the cave witnessed at least three boys evacuated out of the Thailand cave Sunday, as authorities race against time to free the boys and their soccer coach who have been underground for more than two weeks.

A New Jersey mother was the only member of her family to survive a multi-car crash that occurred in Delaware on Friday and took the lives of her husband and four daughters.

Mary Rose Trinidad, her husband Audie Trinidad, 61 and their daughters — Kaitlyn, 20, Danna, 17, and 13-year-old twins Allison and Melissa —were driving on a Delaware highway in their minivan when a pickup truck going the opposite direction crossed over the median and slammed into their vehicle, ABC News 7 reported.

The family of six were returning home to Teaneck, New Jersey after going on a trip to Ocean City, Maryland according to the New York Post, who spoke with Audie’s brother, Daniel Trinidad.

“I’m trying to keep it together. We don’t know how we will cope once reality sets in. They’re all gone, gone,” he told the outlet.

“They’re a God fearing family. They go to church. My brother texted me a picture of the blue crabs they ate on 4th of July. They’re all gone in the blink of an eye,” he continued, adding that “Their bodies in the morgue are unrecognizable.”

A five-man panel of the apex court led by Justice Dattijo Muhammad unanimously upheld Saraki’s appeal, by dismissing the remnant three counts, declaring the evidence led by prosecution as hearsay.

Hon.Justice Musa Dattijo Muhammad was born on 27th October,1953 in chanchaga local government area in Minna.

Musa Dattijo started his basic education in Native Authority School, Minna, 1960-1966, he had his secondary education at kanuna 1967-1971, and he proceeded to Abdullahi Bayero college (now Bayero University) Kano 1972-1973 for pre-degree certificate.

He got his LLB (Hons) at Ahmadu Bello University (Faculty of Law) Zaria 1973-1976, and his BL at the Nigerian Law School 1977.

He proceeded to Warwick University Coventry UK for his LLM 1982-1983, and also institute of Advance Certificate in Practice procedure.
