Inasmuch as I don't condone neglignence, there are a lot of issues with this story

1.Exactly what illness brought her husband to the hospital?? Was it something that could have been treated?? What was the prognosis?

I am asking this quesiton because oxygen is not given as a cure all...it is given as a part of what we call 'supportive management'. Patients have died on oxygen not because it was lacking but because their illness was terminal.

2.Doctors and nurses are not responsible for oxygen...it is the hospital's procurement unit. And this being a government hopsital...they probably did not have enough cash to buy enough oxygen

The thing is, we spend less than one trillion naira for over a 100 government owned hospitals. Recently, the head of one teaching hospital was quoted as saying that he gets six million for overheads...while the actual cost is 11million. Where is he going to get five million from.??

In my opinion, government should privatise tertiary healthcare and make primary and secondary health care its focus.

3.

I am a doctor, and I have told patient';s relatives several times 'there is nothing we can do'. Let me tell you of two such times

The first time was to the parents, and then grandparents of a newborn baby who ended up with severe brain damage due to obstructed labour. The child was rushed to the teaching hospital where i was with severe diffculties. If we had a ventilatior for infants, the child could have survived...but the thing is, the child would have been severely disabled...and may have died eventually. Telling the relaitons was the hardest thing I ever had to do...and it still hurts to this day, some ten years later.

Another time was a girl with a dilated cardiomyopathy. Heart was just a flabby mass...could not pump well. Everything had been done..all she needed was a heart transplant...not available in Nigeria. She died. 22 years. I nearly broke down.

Some of you people who insult and curse us doctors don't know that each death affects us too...and there are some we remember, even years later. And there are times when a patient, in grief...like the relation who blamed us for her mother's death...her mother's kidneys had failed...she was on lifesaving dialysis when she died on the machine...and it was all our fault. (We did everything by the book).

So, to the guy who said that the woman should slap us....well, I cannot hate you or curse you. All I can promise you is that we will continue to do our best regardless of the condtion. I do not expect your thanks when we succed...it is my job, and a postman does not celebrate when he delivers the mail...so therefore I won't celebrate when I save a life.

I love my work as a doctor. I have run , shouted, advocated, spent money for, cried over, lost my social life, worsened my health, so that patients can be comfortable, and lives can be saved. I am prepared to keep on working long hours, to keep on fighting, to keep on suffering, even if I do not get your gratitude, even if you slap me.....because it is my job, and if I and my colelagues walked away, things would be much worse....much much worse.

Every death affects me, and every death hurts me. I always find myself going over the possibilites. What could we have done,? What could have been done.? Sometimes I blame msyelf, and sometimes I never stop blaming myself. Sometimes I cry, sometimes, I cannot stop crying.

But that is the job. Some body has to do it.

So, I;ll keep doing it.

Thank you and good evening.

God will surely reward the work of ur ✋..Amen ..Keep doing your best sir

Can people who had to work or do business in Victoria Island, Lekki & Ikoyi daily live in Ota?
May be its for people who works in cannanland.
I hope all their members/papa's lovers and worshipers have all bought a house there?
24 hours power supply, as if they won't pay for it.
The advantage is that it will bring development to ota axis in terms of businesses for people that are creative and want to be entrepreneur , other real estates are springing up in those areas as well ..Everything must not be focused on VI ,lekki etc

For example in advanced country it must not be by force you work or do biz far away from you live this helps to decongest other choked areas we need more of this kind of development in Nigeria

Meanwhile talking about canaancity..there is annual maintenance fees e all those amenities no be free
for 1 bed you will pay 100k /yr
2 bed 150k/yr
3 bed 200k /yr ..etc ALL these are done in advanced countries as well for example condo fee /monthly maintenance fee and even property taxes etc

But those that know the value will always go for what they like

Best of luck for those that have started living there ..ENJOY

Free floating of naira is a recipe for disaster. It makes difficult, if not impossible to have a manufacturing economy. It makes it difficult for businesses to plan. It makes it difficult for us as Nigerians to have control of our economy, meaning Nigeria will continue to be subject to the dictates of foreign countries (hedge funds, foreign banks and others).

Let's look at a simple analysis. Majority of our manufacturing system depends on imports of raw materials. Every time we devalue, or naira weakens for some reasons. It means importers have to pay more for their raw materials. This additional expenses will have to be added to justify increase in price. Leading to inflation, instabilities and others.

Also, we have balloning government dollar denominated debt. Weakening /floating naira will have a significant economic effect on Nigeria. Our ability to fund infrastructure, pay workers and service high debt based on naira devaluation would be severely impacted. This is also going to increase Nigeria's financial risks; curtail its ability to raise international funding, increase its cost of funding or this effect on corporate bodies that need to raise foreign capital?

By simply floating the naira, you make it impossible to predict the bottom. Our international hedge fund companies, banks and others will see to that. Imagine having a situation where $1 trades for 1000 naira? What would happen to jobs? What would happen to inflation and mpr? What would happen to banks cost of funds? What would happen to manufacturers, most especially those that imports raw materials? What happens to their local and international competitive ability? What would happen to power projects that imports equipment and raw materials? What would happen to the economy on the long run?

Just because some economies adopted policies that worked or did not work for them does not mean we should blindly follow. Our economic policies should be tailored to solving our fundamental problems including; creating jobs, improving manufacturing system, creating wealth for the masses, improving cost of living, improving middle class, making Nigeria better. Devaluation, free flotation of naira is not going to solve those problems. It will only regress the economy further. We have a lot of data to prove this.
Well said

Okay. Seems you dont understand me or maybe the rule has changed due to competition.
I'm talking about a newly registered client. Yes you can withdraw your money anytime but you know interests are on daily basis but its not yet yours completely until end of the quarter whereby it will either be re-invested or paid out as dividend, depending on your option.
Anyway, make i no too argue, like I said, they make regular updates to their rules and are making it much more easier in order to retain and attract more customers. .... I'll try to find out about this.
Thanks.
Mercy I think what u were referring to looks like KGIF ..by kakawa guaranteed income fund those days , they pay you dividend or re-invested the money quarterly ..I don't think they do have such anymore [Am not sure o]

I think rules have changed now and there are other investments houses with diffrerent rules
