Governor Fashola SAN is an attorney by profession, and he is by far the most articulate and engaging speaker of the English language that I have ever had the pleasure of hearing ANYWHERE on this planet,
that's why he wont peform much.

Fashola is not an english man but Yoruba man.

Lagosians are not english but Nigerias; Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa etc.

To solve the problem, you got to talk to them in their own(mother) language, please it has nothing to do with mastery of english language.

The real problem is 'Corruption' in Nigeria.

Clean that and 419 would be resolved.

Good idea but what would be more appropriate is 'meet-up'

There could be selected dates for each month of the year.

Nigerians can 'meet-up' for a weekend in such cities.

So you wanna draw-up a time-table for 2009?

you are surely not in TUNE with Nigeria.

cheapest hotel that matches bit of quality is $250 per night.

in two days you are dead-broke. cheap hotel is about $70 a night: you get brown water, cockcroach, etc that gets you only 10days.

Nigeria is fucking expensive. For 3 months you need atleast $10,000 to live well.

Good Luck.
PoliticsRe: Niger Bridge May Collapse Before Christmas. by landis(m): 11:44am On Oct 01, 2008
Nine people were injured as their vehicles ran into a ditch caused by a collapsed bridge in Asangbomole, Surulere Local Government area of Oyo State.
The bridge collapsed after a midnight downpour, and has cut off about 10 villages and communities on the Oyo/Osun border towns.
Sources in the community confided in THISDAY that the injured were in three different commercial vehicles, which ran into the collapsed bridge after their drivers had unsuspectingly entered the ditch.
The vehicles; a Lancer with registration number Oyo AX 62 KSH, a Toyota Starlet car with registration number Oyo AT 409 AME and a Canter bus with registration number Oyo XB 132 FMT, were heading for Oko in the state and Ejigbo in Osun State, for the Sallah celebration, in the early hours of yesterday.
Vehicular movements into Oyo and Osun states through the Ogbomoso-Oko-Ejigbo road have been temporarily halted, as vehicles are making detour at Asangbomole, into a bush path to continue their trip.
Following the incident, men of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) and the traffic department of the Nigeria Police Force from Ogbomoso, were mobilised to the scene and were seen busy controlling traffic and had to mount warning signals to other road users.
Chairman of the local government area, Mr Akinwunmi Ogundiran, was one of the government officials who visited the scene and assured that he would mobilise state government support for its rehabilitation
PoliticsGovt Plans Law To Control Water Use by landis(op): 11:36am On Oct 01, 2008
This country is clearly RUN by FOOLS: no respect, no apologies.

We dont even have water yet they want to control use of water!

How can you control what you dont havehuh?

PROVIDING water for commercial and private use is no longer going to be business as usual. The Federal Government has initiated moves to ensure that no one provides water for commercial or private use without an operating licence.

It has already sent a bill for an Act to establish the Nigeria Integrated Water Resources Management Commission charged with the responsibility for regulation and management of water in the country.

In addition to creating a regulatory environment for the allocation, supply and distribution of water resources for all uses, the commission will promote equitable, sustainable and efficient best practices in water matters.

Under the new law no person can operate a public water resource service in the country except he is a citizen of Nigeria or registered as a body corporate under the companies and Allied Matters Act.

The provider must also be licensed as a water resource service developer or operator while an authorised developer or operator of water resource infrastructure, other than a licensee, may provide and maintain only such facilities and services as are required to exploit water for its own external use on its premises and not beyond.

YES but never thought of that when they force AFRICAN countries through WORLDBANK/IMF.

They must go way of 'FREE MARKET', just like everyone else.

Foreign AffairsRe: The Bailout! by landis(m): 12:36pm On Sep 30, 2008
Why did the Republicans torpedo the bill? This is completely irresponsible. The markets are starving. $1.2 trillion was lost just yesterday alone. The greatest single day fall on Wall Street ever. Shit is going to hit the fan in a big way if they don't pass this bill.
The WEST always tell the AFRICAN countries to privatise and respect market forces.

Now that they find themselves in same shit like the poor africans, what do we have:

not privatisation but nationalisation

not market forces but bail-out

Believe IMF/WORLDBANK/WEST at your own peril.

All planes have what is carry lift-off weight. This has to be calculated to nearest kg.

All planes burn fuel based on weight, which is calculated on number of passegers.

TravelBefore You Take 'ethiopian Airline' by landis(op): 12:32pm On Sep 29, 2008
About 185 passengers scheduled to travel on Ethiopian Airline flight ET900 to Addis Ababa from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport , Lagos with connecting flights to Dubai and New Delhi  were abandoned at the weekend.
There was no indication, as at yesterday evening,  that the passengers would be departing Lagos to the Ethiopian capital. One of the passengers, Linda, who spoke to THISDAY, said that the passengers boarded the flight billed to depart by 1.45 pm Nigerian time on Saturday, but when the aircraft took off it was discovered that the cooling system was faulty which prompted the pilot to abort the flight and return to base.
“When we took off,  we discovered that there was no air in the aircraft (it was not pressurized). The pilot announced to us that he was returning to the airport and assured that they would repair the aircraft and we would depart but when he landed we spent another two hours in the aircraft before we disembarked, ” she said.
According to her, Saturday ended with the aircraft still on the ground without any hope that  the passengers would be departing, adding that  later that evening "the Ethiopian Airlines officials took the passengers to a cheap hotel called Mel Hotels where we were quartered three and four each in one room."
THISDAY gathered that by 8.00 am on Sunday morning,  the passengers who were now dissipated and frustrated with the attitude of the airline, were returned to the airport for another long wait and by 6.00 pm the airline was yet to notify the passengers when they would be departing to Addis Ababa.
“Since that Saturday, they have been repairing the aircraft and as at this moment (5.00 pm ) they are yet to complete maintenance work. We are so disappointed and frustrated with the airline whose attitude is unfriendly and even hostile because we demanded that we won’t travel in that aircraft but they insisted they won’t get us another aircraft, ” Linda disclosed further.
Lamenting further, Linda stated: “They provided us biscuits and Coke shortly after our arrival from the hotel and that was what we have taken since morning. Everybody is sad. Many of us are wearing the same clothes since yesterday. I am going to New Delhi in India and there are those who are going to Dubai , so this delay has shattered our travel schedule. This is a very bad experience for us.”

A drama  however ensued when THISDAY called at the Ethiopian Airline’s office at the airport  for further enquiries . An official of the airline  who was at the door rushed in and quickly locked the door on sighting this reporter and not even several knocks would  make them open the door.Customers who were also being attended to were also locked in and two expatriates customers  were only allowed to go out after  several minutes  while a tall, huge looking man who looked like bouncer stood at the door and shut  it thereafter.Spokesman of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) that operates the Consumer Protection Unit (CPU) told THISDAY that he would notify concerned authorities about the incident.

PoliticsFG Slams N500m Suit Against MTN For Environmental Abuses by landis(op): 12:20pm On Sep 29, 2008
The Federal Government has commenced civil action against frontline telecommunications company, MTN, by demanding N500 million as damage and another N1 million for cost of the action for installing two 15KVA generators in densely populated areas of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The government, through its agency, the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), filed a legal action before the Federal High Court in Abuja last Friday seeking to restrain MTN from further acts constituting dangers to human health and the environment.
According to the writ of summons, the crux of the case is the unwholesome practice of MTN in total disregard to issues pertaining to environment in the course of installation of their equipment and other telecommunications facilities.
In the suit filed by the agency’s counsel, the telecommunications firm was accused of erecting its base-station in a dense residential area within the Abuja metropolis, where it installed two heavy-duty generators operating on a 24-hour basis.
The firm was also said to have installed a mast on the rooftop of residential premises in utter disregard to the possible radio-active and electromagnetic discharges on the people living around the facility.
According to NESREA, its action was necessitated by numerous genuine complaints from residents and in the exercise of its power as enunciated in the establishing law.
NESREA is asking the court to order MTN to remove the said base station and indeed all its equipment as they constitute nuisance, pain and grave danger to people’s health and degradation of the environment.
It is also seeking among other claims a declaration that the construction of the base station, surface storage tank for diesel, installation of two KVA generating sets and communication masts, constitute a real threat to human health and the environment, an order of perpetual injuction restraining the defendant from further operating the communication facilities located within the premises.
In an affidavit deposed to by the Assistant Director in-charge of Environmental Inspection and Enforcement, Mrs. Veronica Enemali, NESREA wants the court to order the defendants to remove all its facilities including its rooftop monopole antenna mounted on the rooftop of the premises and N500 million as general damages.
The agency, in a statement, said the legal action was taken following MTN’s failure to honour the invitation for a meeting to resolve the problem peacefully.
“NESREA is reacting to the genuine complain from the residents and in the exercise of its power as enunciated in the relevant law and considered it legally expedient to take this course of action after the failure of MTN to honour the invitation for a meeting to resolve the problem,” it said.
This is comedy of the absurd, but it can only bring good things to Nigerians

Nigerians should start suing GOVT for to refuse, for noise pollution of their, sirens.

Nigerians should start suing GOVT for the pot-holes that destroy your car, for  power-surge that destroy your appliances, for lack chairs in the schools

I want to see how this case will end.

Passport holders with multiples UK C visitors visa need a Swiss visa unless their national passport allows them to travel without a Swiss visa to Switzerland (see Question 4).

Swiss visas must be applied for and obtained from the Swiss Embassy/Consulate in the country of residence. The Swiss Embassy in London is NOT authorised to issue Swiss visas to multiple UK visitors visa holders.

I ask myself why is that West Africans are the ones who are killed all over the world e.g Africans killed in Italy, Senegalese killed in Spain, Nigerian killed in China.

There must be something that our West African brothers do in foreign countries that always get them into foreign jails or be killed. You'll never hear stories of South Africans or Black Americans being killed in foreign countries
Nothing is justified to be KILLED for.

Those doing the killing are barbarians like the killing of AFRICANS in South Africa recently.
