Every human being deserves to be treated fairly.
Every Nigerian deserves a fair trial, regardless of where he/she is based!
Good But you need to separate wishes from reality.

Even in US/EU. its same people are not treated same.

It is way of life, least I expect is that someone bringing investment, to make life better should be treated better.

its that simple.

I have italy visa with me right now, have not be outside Nigeria before and am to go for my holiday late this month,i want travel to Madrid intead of Milan;hope this will not affect my chance of getting another visa when the one me with now expire from Italian embassy?
I think you must enter first through the schegen country that gives you the visa.

After that, you can travell all schegen countries.

Go Italy, enjoy Roma. After go through Genoa, and enter southern france by way of Monaco, from there you can enter spain.

Good Luck.

blame Obasanjo for ceding the place to Cameroon, for heaven's sake, the only reasonable thing the man could do was to sign the agreement.
with due respect, this is idle talk.

Nobody forced him to sign.

He could as well said, he would not sign, till Nigeria National Assembly approves.

US/UK/UN cannot force him to put pen to paper.

OBJ had chance to put a stop. He did not. He failed himself.
PoliticsRe: Us-based Nigerian Expert Rots In Agodi Prison by landis(m): 11:36am On Aug 18, 2008
I see some problems here:

1. We need state Police. We cant simply get away from it.
This will make it impossible for police from one state to come and arreast you in another state.

2. People must be tried in the state of their orgin or arrest.
Only the AG can issue that such person be transfered to another place for trial

3. Nigerian abroad should be accorded better treatment. For cry-out loud, he is an ex-partriate, foreign investors.
I would rather go a country that value my right than invest in Nigeria even if its my country of birth.

With all this, is Fasola stilling calling on 'naijas' to come home??
Guaranty Trust bank is the correct bank. u can't imagine when i went to my branch to tell them my atm card has expired and i need to renew it. I was told to wait that a new one is already on ground. I was short of words and its free of charge.
They have very good customer service.
actually a world class bank will send you new card about 2wks before the existing one expires but for naija, i think they OK.

anyway, this topic is about charges per each withdraw not replace of ATM Card.
BusinessRe: Banks And Interswitch To Increase ATM Charges by landis(m): 10:31am On Aug 15, 2008
i don't think it is possible for any bank to do that, because it must first be initiated by the central bank of nigeria. but i don't still think it can be initiated because it is abnormal.
It has been confirmed by newspapers too instead of WAITING, Nigerians should be out there FIGHTING BACK.

That country is being run aground.

This bloody Branson is milking us dry and spiting on our faces, no thanks to OBJ

A source told THISDAY that Virgin Nigeria leased its aircraft at very high costs from Virgin Atlantic when it started operations.
It is said to be paying Richard Branson, Chairman of the Virgin Group, for using the Virgin franchise, in addition to high salaries to the personnel seconded to the airline from Virgin Atlantic.
CareerRe: IT Professionals' Salary In Nigeria? by landis(m): 8:01am On Aug 15, 2008
some facts you guys missing:

1. what happens if you loose your JOB? will govt pay you back your salary till you get new one?

2. are you guarantee to get your pension paid every month when you retire?

3. what happened if you stuck by disease or accident; where is medical system to take care of you?

4. what about quality of life; just simply life; travel from Lagos -> Ibadan without needing to read psalm 121.

BusinessRe: Banks And Interswitch To Increase ATM Charges by landis(m): 7:29am On Aug 15, 2008
Question, if you plan to withdraw N1000 you will be charged N150 naira?

This is illegal and it has no bases.

If you guys dont fight this, you are trouble.

The Nigeria banks are so inefficient and yet you have to pay such high charges plus indirectly they are stilumating inflation:

It will become useless to withdraw N50 since you will be charged N150.
PoliticsRe: Bakassi: Whose Fault Is It? by landis(m): 3:20pm On Aug 14, 2008
why can't nigeria annex bakassi, togo, benin etc like the uk did with falkland etc
Because:

1. we hate ourselves as BLACKMAN.

2. we dont understand the WORLD is still survival of the fittest.

3. we live only for 2days while rest of the world live for 50yrs.

4. we are dumb-ass and will believe anything.

Saakashvili obviously used this to bolster his hold on power to some extent, and make himself look like the national defender.
He is a foolish man.

He should go and learn from all those who play puppert to UK/US; once you don't serve their interest anymore, you are gone.

Am rele confused on this bakassi issue?
Is it rele part of the Nigerian geographical map?
territory does not need to be part of your MAP.

Falkland is in Argentina yet it belongs to UK

Ceutal is in Morroco yet belong to Spain

Polynesia is in Pacific yet belong to France.

karmaMod,

many thanks for that link.

Thats truly shocking. It is a scandal and pure disgrace to Nigerian women in UK:

A woman caused uproar in court when she pulled two fingers from her handbag claiming they had belonged to one of her six children.

Remi Fakorede, who was convicted of a £925,000 tax credit fraud, told London's Snaresbrook Crown court they had fallen off following a curse.
Generally, I do not mix with Nigerians abroad. You just cant trust them.
PoliticsRe: 'Return Home', Fashola Charges Nigerians In Diaspora by landis(m): 7:39am On Aug 14, 2008
its shocking.

Fashola has reduced himself to same level like OBJ.

Did anyone ask Naija to go abroad? NO. Condition made them.

If same condition is good, they will naturally go back home.

It is that simple; you wonder whats wrong with these dumb-ass politicians.

very sad to read these simply 'program error' they are using to cheat people.

Basic program: transaction must succeed at once or fail all once: all or nothing'

Transaction should only commit if no errors, God save you in Nigeria if NEPA take light when using the ATM.

why cant they get experience programmers?

Is the Virgin Boss ok? International terminals are for international flights while domestic terminals are for domestic flights! Does Virgin have a domestic flight charter for heathrow? Or should the authorities not correct the errors made by the previous administration. Has the current Mayor of London [Mr Boris] not scrap some of the ideas made by his predecesor [Ken Livingstone] e.g The planned replacement of the "bendy bus" manufactured by Mercedes Benz. So the car maker can also declare that London is not a safe investment haven then?
Its just ridiculous. It reeks of the characteristic superiority complex of the British."I am a British billonaire so I cant be told what to do" While I appreciate Mr Branson's input to the improvement of my country, I dare say he should respect our governments decision to do what is right, and if that means correcting mistakes or fixing unfair contract terms [as defined by the British Office of Fair Trading, then so be it!
BusinessRe: Soludo And Banks' ATM by landis(op): 3:27pm On Aug 13, 2008
I'm directing these comments re Mexican ATM's but the booklet just lists the fees and charges as "International Services". CB (Citizens Bank) charge for ATM use is US$2.00 per transaction. There is also a 1% ATM charge for cash withdrawals and a US$3.00 fee for currency
seem you dont read what you quoting.

It says 'INTERNATIONAL'.

Answer me if you can:

Are you saying if you withdrawn $20 in your bank ATM in PA, they will charge $2.50??
BusinessRe: Soludo And Banks' ATM by landis(op): 3:08pm On Aug 13, 2008
Per transaction, basically it depends onthe bank, ATM, its location blah blah blah, but I live in PA and the most i was charged for a withdrawal was $2.50,
You saying if you withdrawal $20 you get charged $2.50??

I dont believe you and I will cross check this.

Back to Nigeria: It is simply criminal and cheap well to improve the Bank's Balancesheet.

robbing You for a service the provide??or robbing You for using their product?
robbing you for BOTH.
Foreign AffairsRe: Russia Invades Georgia - Guardian UK by landis(m): 3:02pm On Aug 13, 2008
Naive comments are the rage here. I really don't think the Georgians had any hope or thought of American or western millitary aid. All they wanted to do was to put down the violent separatists in South Ossetia.
You exposed yourself.

That place was under 'russia peace keeping force' since 1990.

80% population have Russia Citizenship.

Georgia knew exactly what they were doing when they invaded the place and Russia gave them what they deserved.

BBC put it exact:
Do not punch a bear on the nose unless it is tied down.

Did President Saakashvili miscalculate?

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili must have thought that Russia would not react strongly when he sent his forces in on the eve of the Olympic games to regain control of a territory he had insisted must remain part of Georgia, albeit with some form of autonomy.

Yet Russia was always likely to respond. It already had forces there, leading the peacekeeping force agreed back in the easier days of 1992 between President Boris Yeltsin of Russia and President Edward Shevardnadze of Georgia, himself the former Soviet foreign minister who helped bring the Cold War to an end.
PoliticsRe: Arrant Nonsense From Virgin. by landis(op): 2:55pm On Aug 13, 2008
Are you saying that an initial agreement signed between 2 parties doesn't mean anything any more because one party simply happened to renovate an old domestic wing?
If Branson has this contract let him produced it.

FAAN and Ministry of Aviation owns AIRPORT and not FG.

The fact that OBJ did rubbish does not mean there are no clear-separation.

He should know better and sign a contract with VALID partner. Otherwise he get out of Nigeria.

International = international travel
Domestic = domestic travel

It is clear to a dummmy, which Branson is not.
BusinessRe: Soludo And Banks' ATM by landis(op): 2:49pm On Aug 13, 2008
okkkkkkk huhI don't see a problem here!!some cities/states in other countries charge as much as $3.50 for an ATM withdrawal, do the math,
in a month or per transaction or per fixed amount withdrawn?

and which countries and states are these before you start supporting 'DAY-LIGHT' robbery.

I live in OLD europe and I dont get charged by my BANK for using my ATM either per transaction or monthly.

This new measure of N150 per transaction is criminal.
PoliticsRe: Arrant Nonsense From Virgin. by landis(op): 2:13pm On Aug 13, 2008
Exactly why are you blaming Virgin? Is there more to the story that you have not shared with us? So far, it seems that Naija is the one to blame.
every country, industry and sector have its own compliance which operators must meet.

Nigeria has domestic and international airport while some other countries use 1 airport for both operations.

Virgin should comply ASAP with Nigeria system or get out. It is that simple.

What they cant do in EU or US or ASIA they will attempt to do here because we SOLD our self cheaply.
BusinessSoludo And Banks' ATM by landis(op): 2:06pm On Aug 13, 2008
Banks in the country have increased Automated Teller Machine (ATM) charges to customers by 50 percent to N150 per transaction.

In addition, banks where customers already have account now charge N50 per transaction, as against the free services they usually render.
Nigeria is a sad country.

That means if you use ATM once in day to withdraw money; the bank makes 150*30days = N4,500 from you.

So what happens if your Salary is only N20,000.00

This is criminal.

It is a scandal that all Soludo's reform can achieve is to suffer the people instead of make life better for them.
