jimtosam: I could say, you started a bit late but all depends on the school. WES can take another 3 weeks. From Naija University to here and you know our system in Nigeria .If this is your first semester, you don't have many schools options for transfer because you have no grade. Though, some schools give pending admission till d result is out in December.

If your major reason is cost of living, I would advise you get composed at Connecticut for 2 semester and solidly plan for the trf during summer. Even, you can travel to school you want to trf to, check hw things dey go.

Yankeeboi1: My fellow Nairalanders, I cant explain all I am facing here in the US as a student coz I'm finding it somehow uneasy. First, when I got here this fall I have a problem with my accommodation and where I eventually move to is too far from my school. I have to walk for about 20-30mins to the bus stop before I can get a free shuttle bus to the school. To be candid my pple, I'm not coping in classes coz since we start lectures, the lecturers always talked about one article or the other and also presentations whereby I didnt have a computer with me here I believe in myself to be a good student but it is becoming the other way round in this country and I feel alot depressed anytime we have classes. Is this how I will continue or Is there anybody in the house who has or is in my shoe? I tried to look for job in other to sustain myself but all prove abortive as I was told I have to have a work study before I could get one presently. I even went to the cafetaria yesterday and I was told to file up an application which I dont know when it will be review. Pls I need to know the way out of this b4 it get out of hand. I am just trying to manage the little money with me here. Kindly let me know what to do coz I'm thinking of leaving this school to another state where I get some pple but im afraid of falling out of status. I believe I can transfer but I dont believe I can stay here till next fall or even spring.Any advice pls?

jimtosam: 7. Another thing I learnt about phone here. I was surprised they charge both ways..receiver and caller. So, if you can afford unlimited of T-mobile, boostmobile, etc. It will really pay compare to buying minutes. I think most of them are 50dollars/month (unlimited call, data, and SMS within USA). For International call, there are lots of services online. I use www.localphone.com. 5dollars will give you about 80mins to Nigeria line. Try to skype too.

8. Watch what you eat. America has the highest rate of cancer. All because of burger, 7-layer burrito, ice cream, and those junks. Don't try to feel among when you know some things can compromise your health. Coffee is not good cos of Caffeine. I will talk more about this later.

9. Don't downgrade your Country. If you can afford schooling in America, your father is rich too. Those white cant pay the fees you are paying.We had a discussion in our room about just concluded olympics. Even, the Americans there still believe we are very intelligent cos Naija guys dey collect awards here but the two Nigerians around me here downgraded my beloved country and I felt like punching them.

Baiyewu: @Lanre how far. I trust u had a lovely nite. I have prayed for you, just relax. Instead of worrying i would advice that you escalate this anomaly. Send mail and call the embassy and GSS to lay your complain. Then you go to the GSS both at lekki and ikeja, let those pretty ladies check for ur visa. If it is not available pally them to take ur details and contact you when it is available. Also contact your graduate adviser and international student service so that they can be informed, give u advice that will assist you in case the visa comes out late. But my advice WAIT PATIENTLY thanks and appreciates.

It isn't because of your course but because of the school you are fortunate to get. Keep searching, many still don't require evaluation and if that will be your last option....Good! Just pay $209 for WES, they keep your transcript and the evaluation for life. You got no more business with your Nigeria school anytime you need your transcript while you're in US. Just contact WES again, pay for mailing and you are good. It's fast because, requesting for your transcript from your Nigeria school from US might be a high hurdle to jump.

imperiouxx: lolzzz....no kill yourself friend. You get yours the day they asked you to go get it. I got my 2 days lesser than the day I was told at the embassy to go get it. I guess mine was because my resumption is like 10 days to when I was told to go get it may be king's resumption is close too.

Like someone commented somewhere on this thread, seems like they are giving visas more freely this august as the resumption of fall semester is at hand.
