So they came out to vote for their sons and got 97% turn out of registered voters but others didn't come out to vote for their sons to achieve the same thing. This is what you're defending. Continue
Meanwhile, as strong as the Obi wave was in the last election, even getting more than 98% of votes in Anambra, the voter turnout was less than 40% of registered voters.
Even from the link you posted, they practically mentioned the ward they were suspending the election in after their investigation.
Using your Obi logic, across the state in Kogi, the total number of people that voted is less than 50% of registered voters.
In Anambra, Peter Obi won 95% of the number of those that came to vote on election day, was it rigged? In fact if we break it down LG by LG, we will see areas where Peter Obi won 100% of votes vis a vis accredited voters, were the results rigged?
The same Okene had less than 50,000 accredited voters just a few months ago during the presidential election.
If you must rig, at least, rig with sense. This is shameful.
In Rivers, didn't the number of voters in the Gubernatorial election higher than the Presidential election?
In state local election, the turnout is usually higher than Presidential election as it's a local affair.
It's very very possible that Yahaya Bello cooked those 2 LG result to those numbers but an Ebira man standing for election in an Ebira land will get way more votes than any other person.
Itsrm: Remember the original complaint was about 5 local governments. INEC went ahead to compile and announce results from some of those local governments.
Some of those local governments had a 97% turn out of registered voters. Just think about it. Not 97% of those with PVCs, registered voters . The rigging was brazenly done.
The complaint I saw was that 1 local government, I don't know about the other 4 LG you are talking about.
I don't know where Dino is getting his own stats from but the result that Inec announced tallied both accredited voters and actual voters.
I remember asking here on Saturday how Okene and Adavi LG numbers were so high and if those LG were populated before Amoto told me those LG were populated.
Okene and Adavi are Ebira land, it's no surprise that they will give their son block votes the same way the SDP candidate got block votes from Igala land.
BlueRayDick: I think u are missing something here. It's established the driver while trying to escape LASTMA arrest killed the two cleaners, but what izzou and glorious are saying is this; If those women were not sweeping the expressway they definitely will still be alive now. Sweeping an expressway is an extremely dangerous work which Lagos state should not be encouraging.
If LASG want people to still be cleaning the expressway, then they must go all out to put in place serious safety measures to protect the cleaners going forward.
If the driver that was overspeeding didnt hit them, won't they be alive right now also?
The issue I'm having with their premise is that they are trying to absolve the driver of any blame.
GloriousGbola: This is the divider used by construction crews. They fill it with water. This is an actual barrier. A traffic cone is not intended for keeping people safe on an expressway
I believe a large number of us here drive responsibly and we have all been in situations on lagos roads where we came close to hitting people who should simply not have been on the road. One time I hit a guy on a bicycle. I was torn between concern and anger. What the fk are you doing riding a bicycle on an expressway?
Reckless drivers and unsafe working conditions both exist. Infact for that reason the govt should actually stop any day time road cleaning. Or put PROPER safeguards in place. On average death of road sweepers are in the news at least twice a year.
Yet LASG has not take the time to do a proper review of the root causes. Because the easy thing to do is arrest and fine the driver. Revenue generated even if by death of an easily replaced cleaner.
You'll notice that in my second post to BlueRay, I mentioned the role Lastma played in the accident.
We can actually have a conversation about Lawma cleaners and how the system can be improved.
But trying to absolve the driver of blame and blaming the victims is a no no for me. It's not as if we have not seen drivers hit and run over passerby before.
liveLongNprospa: Larride who you go blame? The driver or the lastma who chased the driver?
Go back to my second post to BlueRayDick.
At first I blamed the driver alone, when I got new information about lastma, I came and added that context to it.
The fact of the matter is that the driver hit and killed those women because he was trying to flee (overspeeding) away from lastma that was chasing him.
Lastma fault here is clear because they don't really need to chase the guy to fine him for breaking a traffic offense.
The driver is also reckless for overspeeding without caution that lead to the death of 2 women.
GloriousGbola: The cleaners I meet are always by the divider. In the fast lane. I am not supposed to slow down on Apapa oshodi expressway. There is no difference between the cleaners being there and a broken down car being there
The difference is if I hit the car they may find the owner liable, but I hit the cleaner I will be found liable.
You are making it sound as if you can hit anything you like because it's an expressway. Even expressway have speed limits.
The moment you are on the wheel, you have a duty to yourself and others to drive responsibly. That it's an Expressway doesn't give you the right to drive as you like.
If you hit a car that was parked by those dividers on an expressway because they break down while waiting to be towed or fixed, you are liable because the only thing that will make you hit a car that way is if you are overspending or you are doing something else that distracted you from seeing your front. A car is not a needle that's invisible.
izzou: I am not blaming the victims. I have been in a position during my Uber days when i almost hit one of these LASG cleaners
She was even using a bucket as her cone. I scattered the bucket, but didn't get to her.
The argument is not funny. No human being should be on the expressway. Even road construction companies give a lot of distance and warning signs just to work there.
How can a government give someone a cone, and expect disaster not to happen one day?
Go to google and just search reckless driver kills passerby in Lagos and see how the search result will turn out for you.
This accident occurred because of a reckless driver, no where in your post since this discussion started have you even condemned the reckless driver but you are asking me how I know if the driver is reckless or not or if a car hit person, does it mean the driver is at fault.
This accident happens because the driver was over speeding because he wanted to evade arrest from Lastma. The women sweeping there did nothing wrong and if not for the stupid reckless driver, they will still be alive right now.
Just 2 days ago, a reckless driver run over a passerby in Ogba because he was over speeding and lost control of the car. The victim wasn't sweeping on the expressway neither was he trying to cross the expressway. The victim was just on his own walking on because his life was cut short by the reckless driver just the same way those women life was cut short today by that reckless driver.
If you want to blame the victims and not the reckless driver, you can go ahead and do that, I'm done with this conversation.
This is what lagosians casually do everyday. Run across a road where you can legally drive at over 100km/hr.
If I hit a person running across an expressway I am not legally at fault. It cannot even count as negligence. But because it is Nigeria police and community will shake me down.
Nobody is talking about someone that is running to cross a expressway.
We are talking of a car running over someone that's standing beside a kerb.
Context matters and all this spinning is not necessary.
izzou: Because a car hits someone doesn't make the driver at fault. Unfortunately, it is the song for Nigerians
I have a friend that killed someone before. He was driving around 11pm on Apapa/Oshodi expressway when someone just rushed into the road. He tried to stop but the deed was done.
He was reckless shey?
Suddenly you don't know the meaning of reckless driving again and have now resorted to whataboutism.
izzou: Before you call the driver reckless, where did you park?
Do you know that while you are parked on the expressway, with your car jacked up, the wind from other cars passing can shift your jack, and the car can fall on the person?
Most expressways are designed to have lay-bys where people can park. If your car has issues, manage it there.
Because you have C-Caution does not mean you can park anywhere.
You do know you can park your car even in the lay-by and a reckless driver can come run you over there?
izzou: You mean the cones they put 100cm from where they are sweeping?
A human being should not even be there, even if you put 10 cones.
When you have a flat tire, you look out for a safe place to park and change it. Everywhere is not safe, even if you have a C-Caution.
If those women cannot sweep at late nights, where there's little to no traffic, they should stay at home.
What they are doing in way too risky.
If someone have a flat tire on the expressway, then park on the side to fix his car and he put those danger and caution sign while trying to fix his car, then one unfortunate reckless driver goes and hit the person where he's fixing the car, whose to blame?
BlueRayDick: There are a lot of things wrong in this country. I think the state government is not serious about ensuring LASTMA officials stick to their job of managing free flow of traffic. Normally why should LASTMA be chasing a vehicle when there are already cameras taking pictures of traffic offenders almost everywhere in Lagos?
Shebi they are just expected to send direct message to the driver's phone informing him of the fine and make it impossible for him to renew his papers except he pays the official fine.
Just like izzou pointed out, sweeping on an express road seems weird and just a disaster waiting to happen. I understand there was need for LASG to create jobs for those cleaners, but the risk they are exposed to on the job is just too much. I don't even know what the government can do to protect those cleaners other than to take them off the highways
The way those lastma guys behave as if they are bigger than life ehn.
I almost had an encounter with one of them earlier this year. I was in a danfo going to Maryland, just after Ojota where you pass that bridge, that's how these Lastma vehicles just blocked the danfo I was in from the front, we were saved by whisker that the trailer behind us didnt ran into us. I almost slap the lastma guy when I came down. How do you put people's live at risk because you want to catch an offender?
Those guys are a menace and the earlier LASG make sure they stick to their core mandate of ensuring free flow of traffic, the better for us.
GloriousGbola: Thank you. I was going to post this. It is insanity to have people working on an EXPRESSWAY. the whole point of an express is for you to drive at high speed. It is why you have Kai on ground to arrest people who do not cross the bridge.
The logical thing is to do all cleaning at night, but since there are no working floodlights here we are.
Eventually someone will countersue lasg
Was there a zebra crossing? A stop sign? Do people clean expressways during rush hour in civilized countries?
You cannot claim that it is reckless driving on an expressway.
It is actually reckless driving as most times those Lawma cleaners usually have a cone for caution whenever they are sweeping. It's not as if those women were trying to cross the road.
The system is not perfect tbh but this particular incident is reckless driving fueled by Lastma.
Emaprince: There are stories you read and you wonder whether that person is cursed.
You are in London and all you can think of is to commit r..ap.e? Na wa o.
Even if he is in Nigeria...how do these people have unconsented s.e...x and enjoy it? S..e..x without the moaning and gripping on you no be s..ex o.
When there are many avenues you can get easy s..ex now, somepeople still fancy ra..ping. maybe it's a fetish or something. I can't wrap my head around it.
The annoying part is that consensual sex is very easy to get at this time or age. Plenty hook up apps and all to get you laid easily.
I don't know if it's just me, but most times I see those road cleaners at work I always feel their job is too risky considering the number of reckless drivers we have on the roads in Lagos. So many impatient drivers who just want to use the smallest space to overtake other road users; just one reckless swerve and they will knock down a cleaner who already placed a cone by the side of the road for protection.
I doubt Lagos state has any reasonable compensation for cleaners who die in active service like that.
Just read the accident happens while Lastma was chasing a Sienna guy. It was the Sienna guy that killed the 2 Lawma cleaners.
Something needs to be done with the way these Latsma guys behave when it comes to private cars as compared to how they just overlook danfo drivers that commit the same offense.

Lagos really need more stiff penalties for reckless driving. A manslaughter charge or outright murder charge in this case will suffice.
At your last paragraph, I really hope LASG take care of the family of the departed. It's a sad and avoidable loss.
