How will such parent be able to talk to the child and expect him to listen on morality ? The hunger is a major factor that has partnered with the social media factor .

Oh definitely, hunger is a huge part of it but then has hunger or poverty been a reasonable excuse for crime?

Look at our artisan sector and see that most of these jobs are now being run by Ghanians, Togolese, Beninese, Nigeriens and the likes. Our people are no longer ready to do the work required. How many Nigerian Youths do you see doing plumber, tiling and the likes? Most of them have resorted to doing Yahoo because it promises them quick and fast money. Why should a 20yr old kid main goal at that age is how to quickly buy benz, build luxury apartments and be carrying women around?

Even this social media we are talking about, I said it in my previous post that one of the advantages is that it has simplified access to learning and information, how many of these guys are ready to learn one tech skill or the other? How many people are leveraging social media to find customers for their business or skills? Poverty is a convenient excuse for crime.

We still have a long way of harnessing the true potential of technology and social media as a nation for personal and national development.

I still had a discussion with a friend yesterday and we both agreed that nowadays the youth learn from people on social media even the simplest of things they should pick up and learn from their immediate environment . Like people listen to people like Davido, Wizkid , Burna etc and think they are always right simply because those are the guys making all the money , buying the luxury cars and what have u. People glamorize some of their indicent behavioris, think it’s cool and won’t mind replicating same in their own immediate environment/society .

Remember that time Davido literally disrespected Dele Momodu over his issues with his baby mama Sophia ? He said “Dele na my boy “ did not end there , but added it to the lyrics of his song . This is Dele his uncle’s friend o; someone that has known him from birth . The youth though it was cool Davido had to give it to Dele and put him in his place…. Blah blah…

Davido has since apologized to Dele but that moral value broken is gone.

Generally our morals are being eroded. Money is the new cool. You'll only be heard and seen if you have money.

That's why Yahoo even thrives, parents who know their children have no skills or handiwork will see their child buying all sort of luxury cars and all, yet they are not disturbed. Some parents even go as far as enrolling their wards with these fraudsters. What do most of our celebrities promotes nowadays? Money. What do our artiste sings about? Money, fraud and weed. All these are easily accessible and consumed by the Youth through social media and it shapes narratives and all. Na from social media we begin hear "school na scam" or "who school help". Its one of the major pandemic that Soyinka is referring to.

The same technology and social media has simplified access to information, access to learning and all.

If you doubt the existence of gods, government hospital matrons will change your mind. Those ones are deities with more power than Otem or Obatala. They pepper everybody, whether patient or doctor…..you fit collect.

I've heard alot of people say good things about Ikorodu general hospital but that first hand experience ehn. If they had lot of staff, most of the private hospitals no go dey get patients like that. Even the private hospital that my wife get birth in, if there's any serious complications that need experienced specialists attention, they refer people to the general hospital.

I told the Nurse my blood is B+ and wife is AB+ so doesn't match, she said they will use the one that matches hers and use mine for whoever it matches. Majority of Doctors have japa, reason for the shortage of Doctors in Govt Hospitals.

Yes. I think Lagos State has changed this particular rule of blood donation. When we registered for antenatal for my wife first pregnancy at general hospital, they didnt ask for blood donation.

My Twins birth was CS too at MCC Festac Town in 2018, the procedure was very successful with no blood given to her or any complication whatsoever and was billed ₦135k. I wonder how much MCC go dey bill people for CS now....

I had to buy the pint of blood before they even began the CS. Funny enough they didnt use it and only refunded 1. Na so 25k go for vanishing.

This was even after they had admitted her for 4 days oo. They discharged her and we went home. 3 days later in the evening she just started seeing blood again.

Even when the doctor finally attended to us after two hours, we had to do scan to know what's up and the people doing scan in the hospital have gone home. All the private lab in the area sef don close.

It was in the morning when we rushed to do the scan we found out she had miscarried. My wife cry tire.

Let us add levels to this thing.

Top private hospitals are okay; The Evercare, St Nicholas and some other expensive/affordable ones around us. But many private hospitals are death centres.

The major problem of government hospitals is the lack of equipments and manpower. The doctor(s) are more qualified than what most private hospitals parade.

LASUTH is a government hospital that is very okay.Even LUTH is okay, except for the lack of equipments. Nigerian Navy and Army Hospitals are okay too.

Make we no go praise private hospitals too much oh. Many are not better than roadside canteens[/color]

The Ikorodu General hospital suffers from lack of manpower. The day my wife had miscarriage, it was only one doctor on round that day for the entire mother and child unit. It man was already overworked and tired sef by the time it got to our turn.
