Those who trade those 43 items can't bring in liquidity. They will only drain liquidity from the market and put more pressure on the official window.

The question we should ask is, why were they banned in the first place? So that those who actually need the dollar for more important things can get it. As it stands, even those who need the dollar for more important things can't get it.
The reason Buhari gave for banning them then was to be able to manage our scarce fx resources and encourage local production. 8yrs down the line, can you say the policy has worked?

Once the 43 items are banned, they can now buy and sell forex at the I & E window. Of course they are bringing liquidity also to the market.

They can't even meet the current demand for the dollar on the I&E window which is why marketers can no longer import fuel. Now they are lifting the ban on the 43 items. Where is the dollar to meet the now increased demand?

I honestly don't see what this solves but I'm not an economist. Maybe they know better.
They need liquidity to flow into the market and if those that trade those 43 banned items can bring their liquidity into the official market, it can help stabilize things.

They are trying to clear all the backlogs first, it's the backlogs that's not allowing CBN to properly bring liquidity into the market because Emefiele has ruined everything.

We wait and see how the next 6 months goes. Time is the revealer of all things.

I don't know translation works because I don't call Messi Ronaldo. You're not obviously sound mentally. Go and get your brain checked.

Person wey dey sick in the head, using the stale tactic of religious people saying a person, who's well-versed in a subject and stating facts, doesn't know something because the facts of the matter don't align with the lies wey full your head.

You're merely wasting your time sha. Today, only imbes see Olorun, Allah, and Yahweh as the same entity in today's Internet age where information on key subject is readily available online.
I'm sure when you are sleeping you dream of religious folks, nowhere even in my post have I even mentioned anything religion but your brain has been so wrapped that you see religion in everything.

Let me make it simpler for you, maybe your pea sized brain can finally be put to use.

Blessing is English, Ibukun is the translation of Blessing from English to Yoruba.

Same way, in Arabic God is Allah, while Yoruba call God Olorun or Olodumare so when they are translating these Quran which was written in Arabic to Quran, they simply replace Allah (God in Arabic) to Olorun (God in Yoruba) likewise English.

It's also the reason why when you read the bible, Lord is referred to as Oluwa and not Olorun. It's simply translation from one language to another.

For someone who claimed to have read all the books in this world, it's one of the wonder that I have to be explaining this simple concept for you.

Like I said earlier tho, I have mixed reactions because I know what it means to the struggling local manufacturer. Now that cement is no longer banned, let's see if the price will crash or not.

The policy might work or might not work but we have used 8yrs in the protectionist policy of Buhari (which I actually supported) but we are nowhere near 10% production capacity and food inflation wants to wreck the country, make we try another avenue abeg.

Your IQ is obviously very low because if someone like you sees a translated text calling Messi the same as Ronaldo, you will be parroting the same all around. SMH, people wey dey mentally slow
If my own IQ is low, yours is non existent. How you are even equating Messi and Ronaldo to a translation of one name in one language to another means we have to donate your brains to chickens to feed on.

It was Yorubas that translated Allah which is the supreme being in Arabic to Olorun which is the Supreme being in Yoruba language. It is simply language translation, nothing more, nothing else but I dont expect you to even understand it.

Dumbo.

I'm not here to engage dolts that say Olorun = Allah = Jehovah = God.

That's a classic way to recognize a dull African. It's like saying Messi = Ronaldo = G.O.A.T.

If you've a working brain, you'd know only fools say and Messi and Ronaldo are the same person simply because each claims the title of the greatest footballer of all time.

It's also fools that say Olorun is the same as Jehovah and the same as Allah simply because each claims the title of God, which thousands of past humans had also claimed in the past at one time or the other.

If you don't know your left from right, that's you don't have basic knowledge of what you're saying, don't quote and be wasting time unnecessarily.

The children of Allah and Jehovah are killing themselves now in Isreal and Palestine continuing the wars their forefathers, Allah and Yahweh, fought many times against each other when alive, but some morons in Africa are still calling Allah the same as Jehovah and same as Olorun, the god and ancestor of the Isese practitioners in Yorubaland.
All these long epistle because you dont understand how translation works.

May you not die in your own ignorance.

All these will involve factories to produce, to warehousing and distribution

Which means Buhari policy was working and it was just taking time to scale right? cheesy

The truth is that something needs to be done fast about this food inflation. Buhari policy has been running for 8yrs and we are not even seeing the impact as expected.

We are not even close to producing half of the 43 banned items.

One of the revelations of this regime is that they actually don't have any plan when they entered.

The trial and error is becoming too much.

One of the reasons our local productions could see the light of day was because CBN was not providing forex for some items.

This will ruin the past administration efforts.

Well, we wait and watch
Well on this some thread, it was said that Buhari ruined the economy. This issue is not as straightforward as it looks like.

The reason why the black market is thriving is because of those 43 banned items, those that trade those 43 items were sourcing their forex from the 3rd party, that's why the rate kept crashing (apart from the fact that we dont have enough liquidity to meet demands).

Look at all the items on the banned list since 2015, how many of them are cheaper? The prices just keep soaring and soaring with no end in sight. Food inflation is almost 75% nationally, most people are using their salary/wages in food alone. It is not sustainable. Something needs to be done.

If Buhari methods didnt work or yield the desired impact, it makes no sense to continue on that line.

All these fake translations sha. As I said before, if you can't read and understand Qur'an in Arabic, you don't really know the book and Islam.

To get a deeper understanding of Islam and Qur'an, you need to understand Arabic and know a lot of history, so mischievous Muslims and liars from Arabia won't be calling Allah Olorun, Satan Eshu for you in the translated texts.
You do know its mostly Yorubas that translate those words from Arabic to Yoruba right? 😂

Do you even know how translation work?

It's important to note that the crusaders (Knight templars n co) were a catholic thing which was even supposed to be a protection order for those going on pilgrimages.

Nowhere in Jesus teachings did he ask anybody to fight or kill others for or in his name. The early Apostles spread the gospel with words, not violence.

Chairman what do you people want sef? Buhari did his own - Let Tinubu do his own so far they perform should be the koko?

Tunji Ojo is inexperienced as per Naija parlance to be Minister of Interior; his strongest CV is being Tinubu son inlaw, however in his less than 3months stint he has shown potential to out perform Aregbe who came to same position with 8yrs commisioner experience + 8 Governor experience...

So let Tinubu appoint who ever he wants, if they mess up is on him, and I would blame him squarely unlike those who would rather excuse Buhari for the mess ups of his appointees.
