Segedinho: Dollar unification as well as fuel subsidy removal are not bad idea...
It became a bad one when we weren't ripe enough to withstood the aftermath...
The combination of both is the reason why many Nigerians are considering suicide Fuel subsidy should've remained for me. The political class cant be asking the masses to make sacrifice when I know they are not ready to make any sacrifice. It's also the reason why I strongly support the dollar move. Make everybody dey buy the true value of the dollar. Not that some people who have access to CBN will be getting dollar ay a subsidized amount while the rest will be getting dollar at an astronomical rate. Make everybody buy at dollar at the same rate. Whether na 1k or 2k. |

They said they are committed to accelerating efforts to clear the FX backlogs.
Let them start it and maybe we will take them serious.
That was how they said they will clear it in two weeks in September.
https://www.thenationonlineng.net/cbn-to-clear-10b-forex-backlog-in-two-weeks/amp/ Forex is not coming in now. Emefiele CBN don use cash swap and oil swap collect forex, that's what the new CBN is still managing and clearing. Our finances were shit under Buhari and Emefiele. |

LordAdam16: Technically, it is.
Until today, the highest rate that could be quoted by any participant in the NAFEM window was 800. And the CBN always intervened to keep the closing price below 780.
-Lord It is not fixed. It is based on a willing buyer, willing seller model. The reason the rate has been consistent at that rate was because the CBN was like the major seller on there, that's why the transaction value was cry low while the black market is surging. With the 43 banned items gone, more players will come into the official market, the black market started today at 1050 and close at 1080 while the official market opened at 780 traded as high as 980 and close at 848 which shows alot of transaction and price movement while the black market just move slightly. In the coming days the official market might even hit 1k before it stabilize back. As long as everyone can trade on the official market, the price will stabilize. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by larride(m): 8:49pm On Oct 17, 2023 |
Itsrm: On paper, it was a good idea.
Look at it this way, no one will obtain dollar at 700 on the official window and use it to import raw materials for production when he can flip it in the parallel market and make more money .
The disparity was just creating money for people without doing anything.
Problem as is always the case is in the implementation of policies. The CBN does not have the FX for any realistic unification. Its a good policy that will take time to fully show impact. The implementation has been solid so far. There's no item on CBN list anymore, CBN are also actively clearing all the backlogs. It will take time for the rate to stabilize but it will. |

Segedinho: Larrides believes 'dollar unification" is actually one of his best policies It is. According to what I'm reading here, the official market close at 980 and black market at 1070. It means alot of transaction is moving to the official market, the more liquidity move to the official market, the best. Let the naira find its value against the dollar. Anybody that needs the dollar should be able to pay the true value for it. Unless you want the govt to continue from where Buhari stop and keep using scarce resource and our foreign reserve to defend the naira that's only available to some set of people. My stance hasn't changed. |

At this point it’s looking like some northerners grievances are genuine as far as Tinubu’s appointments are concerned .
Some section of northerners have been complaining that while Tinubu picks the best of the best from the south while making appointments , he seem to be picking the worse the north has to offer . It's true. Just look at the difference in ministerial appointments between the North and South. |
