Bro RMFAC job is review and approval of govt wages and salaries including minimum wage. That's their duty.

After RMFAC approval, they will make recommendation to the FG, NASS and State Govs. FG, NASS, State Gov and their house of Assembly will then have to sign it into law.

The RMFAC made the approval and recommendation to the govt since last year and it was ignored.

That's it.

Chairman I get it wasnt your reality, but humour me; If you spent 7yrs instead of 4yrs due to strike would you still consider it subsidized? Or accord any value to the subsidy?
Tbh, I will be angry but it doesn't change the fact that the reason there was strike in the first place was because the govt and lecturer unions are always clashing because of low salaries.

The schools are not charging reasonable fees to take care of the running of the schools which means the govt have to continue to fund them. That's the subsidy.

I went to a state uni, we had a less crowded hall, very good library and a working clinic all working efficiently on campus yet my school fees was 95k per session with zero extra fees paid after. Also with zero strike. While I was paying 95k per session, my friend at Redeemers was paying in excess of 700k for the same degree. That's the subsidy.

The strike is part of what you get. My own 4yrs was 4yrs even though ASUU strike for 6 month while I was in school.

My school opted out of ASUU strike being a state uni. Even this last strike, my school didnt partake in it.

Larride this is what you typed just today.
So I dont understand this whining.

I don't understand how 1st class students passing ICAN is supposed to be a shocking thing or them getting employment.
Would you like to compare the benefits of your students to what 1st class graduates from say Covenant will have especially across board.
The problem is we don't have someone from these schools to properly talk about the opportunities they have available.

I have never said there are no intelligent people in government unis but I stand by my point that the Gulf is consistently getting wider especially when you leave it at just your knowledge acquired in university alone.

That isn't hard to understand surely
Bro my school was run like a private uni, we have 6 different campuses so that each campus is not overcrowded.

Like I said in that post, the difference is in infrastructure and having more lecturers than we do.

As for knowledge acquired in the University, you dey whine yourself.

I did a random google for school fees in covenant and got this website, I dont know how realistic it is

but if this is what a non subsidized Uni education is in Nigeria

https://www.witspot.org/covenant-university-school-fees/#Covenant_University_school_fees_for_200_Level_students

https://www.witspot.org/unilag-school-fees/

I chose for non freshers in both schools

So if the fees stay the same for 5yrs. A UNILAG students pays 80K and a Covenant student pays about 4M

And you say its not subsidized? grin grin cheesy cheesy
During my NYSC, I met a guy in the same school I served, the guy read Christian Religious Knowledge at Babcock. He was the first born of 4 but was the last to go to University because he insisted he wanted to study CRK and at Babcock for that matter. 😂

He said after all his siblings were through with Uni was when his father agreed for him to go to Uni. All his 3 siblings went to State Uni, he said when his father paid the first school fees of Babcock Uni, he told him that the moment he graduated, he doesn't owe him anything again in life. 😂

When we were calling the amount we paid in Uni he was just laughing and said he was not going to say how much his dad paid in Babcock before we get to know they pay close to 1m.

Anybody arguing that our school is not subsidized just want to argue for arguing sake.

Exactly ! When u check performance review of students in ICAN u see the public university students taking the front row; same with Law school . These easily verifiable data disagrees with the notion that knowledge acquired in private university Supersedes that received in public Uni .

I know quite a handful of professors that were poached by their friends who are now VC’s in private universities to come and start oarticular departments and faculties in private unis.

One major thing that has always helped private university students is the conducive learning environment and state of the art infrastructure .
Correct.

Please no offence to government graduates but private university students are mostly better finished products on average.
That you have outliers doesn't change that reality.

Thing is recruitment companies also take that into account when shortlisting but when it comes to base knowledge in most cases the private uni student will be ahead just from what they learnt in uni.
No dey whine yourself oo.

Our exams from 300l was Ican standard, nobody will even beg you to attend class or read. We also have a well packed library with books on whatever you subject you want to read on. Our lecturers are also very knowledgeable.

In my set, we had 15 first class graduates. They all aced their ICAN exam in one sitting. 3 of them entered KPMG immediately after service, 1 entered Deloitte, 2 went into academics n so on. Our best graduating student Dapo currently works at KPMG US.

The edge private uni have over public schools is better infrastructure, equipment and exposure.

What do you think your experience in university will actually be worth.
Lets assume it is subsidised.
What would do you think your fees will be with everything you experienced?
At least 200k

You are further making my point for me.
You have even broken it down even more.

So again what you people paid for in government universities is exactly what you got.
From the type of lecturers you had to the way you were taught to the living conditions..
Which is why I'm asking how that is subsidised. When the Gulf between "non-subsidised" education is so much more different.

That it is cheap doesn't mean it is subsidised. lue=Amount paid
It is subsidized because it's still the govt funding the schools which is why the tuition is low and can't give us what we deserve. The standard of education in the public uni is not the same with private uni.

In the breakdown of our fees, tuition is 45k, it was all other fees that add up to make it 95k.

All the money I paid for my 4yrs to study Accounting is not up to the money someone in Redeemers University pay in a year to study the same Accounting.

This is where we differ.
I do not believe it is because the experience is not the same with what you get from private universities.
Or would you say it is?
The experience and quality of education defer. You went to a private university, you surely cannot comprehend some of the things those that attended federal or some state universities face.

Thankfully the state uni I went to dont usually admit alot of students yearly, for example in my faculty management science, Accounting (my set) had the highest intake and we were around 110 or so, banking and finance was 40+, I'm not even sure if Business administration was up to 40. So I cant really relate with alot of those that went to public uni and attend class in a crowded hall because for 90% of the time I was in Uni, my experience wasn't so except for the GNS and French lectures that we have combined class.

We had lecturers that were teaching 3 or more departments which most times make some of them miss classes due to exhaustion. Our own department lecturer were not even up to 5, we share the rest with Banking n Finance.

When I was President of my department and went to Redeemers Uni to talk to their own Accounting department President, I realise that we are lagging behind a lot. While their own association chapter was recognized by ICAN, ACCA and the likes and they attend their conferences and all, we have no such privileges. Infact the seminar that I held while I was President and invited the then ICAN President, he didnt come and sent Osun State Chapter Chairman for the event.

They (Redeemers) also had many lecturers compared to us, they also have relaxation areas, sporting complex, a big library that makes ours (That we usually use to make mouth) looks like a joke.

All these are part of what differentiate the experiences that those that attended my school and Redeemers uni will get.

From Odili to Wike, Bulwachukwa(whatever the spelling is), Ndume and many others.
So what you are saying is that anyone who is lawyer and his spouse is to go into public service, their own career should not progress right?

Odili rose to the rank of Justice of the Supreme Court, she has been on the bench for over 35yrs, how long did Odili hold executive power? Was she made a judge during Odili tenure as Governor?

I'm not denying that theres no influence in appointing judges anyways but it comes from the NJC.

If they check the AAU website, they will see that the tuition fees for 100l nursing students for 2022/23 is actually not listed.

There's an acceptance fee of 70k listed for 100l nursing students, but no tuition fees.
No Nursing and Medicine/Surgery 😂

I think that's the amount AAU has been charging since tho for their 100l students, maybe that's why the guy posted that.

This is for 200 level.

And yes, it's still subsidized.

Go and check how much Private Uni are charging and then compare.

Funny enough. From 300-600l pays lower than 200 level students which means they have different fees for 100l, 200l and from 300l upwards.

Again, state uni charge far higher than federal uni but I refuse to believe a state uni will charge 790k for Medicine unless they have facilities that rival private universities.

And yes, state govt subsidies tertiary education also but not on the level of the federal ones.

I was paying 95k to study Accounting in a State Uni while a friend that went to Redeemers University Ede was paying around 750k to study the same Accounting.

If you listen to lawyers talk about the appointment of judges then you'll know you are incorrect.

For example the appointment of Peter Odili's daughters as judges while 'legal" they were fast tracked their parents.
They were fast tracked by the parents, how? Is it by telling the Governor to make her a judge or by influencing the NJC to recommend her?

Most times the President/Governor approves and appoint whoever the NJC recommends.

No, the way they are not compromised is to make the process of appointing judges plain, impartial and of merit.

As it stands, it's just politicians who appoint judges.

If you are claiming that our judges are not appointing on merits, you will have to bring examples.
