The one they did with vehicles did not work

Put an innoson vehicle of 5m side by side with a 10m foreign used Toyota Avalon. 95% of people will still go for the Avalon.

Only way IMO is to restrict it as they have done.
Yes but they really need to reduce import duties on tokunbo cars. It's one reason why Tokunbo cars are fùcking expensive.

I have still not seen anywhere in the world where customs are involved in revenue generation, it’s an abnormally.

It distract them from their core functions, that agency should be manned by technocrat.

What’s a representative of national universities doing on the board of custom.

Everybody is just trying to fleece and make money from Nigeria business man, reason we are ranked low on the ease of doing business.
Lmao. Na clowns write that Act that established Customs.

Its also something that Customs is an agency under ministry of finance instead of interior.

Hopefully after the reformation, they reconstitute those who make up the board of NCS and move it to Ministry of Interior to join Immigration.

The retaining of the 43 banned items list by the CBN don’t look wise to me.

If we want a unified exchange rate, banning importers from accessing fx for certain items on the official market will lead to them sourcing the fx from the parallel market.

We should do away with banning it reeks of military mentality, let’s introduce import substitution.
Unless you want the local manufacturing industry to collapse totally, let the fx restriction stay. The govt still has to protect local players.

Unless you want them to remove the fx restriction on those items and increase the import duties to astronomical heights.

If they can collect all direct and indirect taxes I am all for it. Most local govt taxes in lagos and else where are a black hole. You have to use a tout and there is no record. Just some weird looking paper receipt like that

I would love to pay all my vehicle bills directly online.
LASG in particular needs to reform their tax collection again. The amount of indirect tax that goes to individuals pocket is alarming.

LG tax collectors also, I doubt they are even accountable for the numerous indirect taxes they collect.

I fully support the proposed merger of NIMASA, FIRS, and the NCS! Aside from ensuring an efficient revenue-collection system, this move would cut down the unnecessary duplication of functions
In the President Advisory Council report, they intend to implement the Oronsaye Report. I'm all for it.

They should leave Customs and NIMASA alone tho, just move their revenue generating arm to FIRS while Customs and NIMASA continue their other mandates.

They should merge EFCC and ICPC

They should merge NPA and National Waterway Inland Commission

They should merge VIO and FRSC, VIO should be a department under FRSC

And so on.

It will bring efficiency into these MDAs and reduce redundancy.

Customs have always generated revenue. It is what import duties are about. But this may also wind up burning us as things you buy from abroad may also be charged when you bring them in.
Yes I know Customs generate revenue, those excise duties and different import duties should be paid directly to the FIRS.

Customs should focus on border protection and integerity.

this here. Jamb is now self sustaining because oloyede plugged all loopholes where jamb officials were diverting fees and levies to their personal accounts.

as an example, customs officers have always been rich because they too are diverting fees to their personal pockets.
As good as I like this, Customs and NIMASA mandate is beyond just revenue generation, border protection and integrity is also part of their mandate.

Surprisingly Customs is an MDA under the ministry of finance when they are a paramilitary force and should naturally be under the ministry of interior.

PBAT will have to send different Bill's to the NASS to remove revenue generation from Customs and NiMASA and move both of them to ministry of interior and if possible merge Customs with immigration.

Customs themselves should be concerned with securing our borders and not in charge of collecting revenue in the first place.

Why is INEC acting in cahoots with APC at the tribunal?? Just see how these people are blatantly corrupt. I thought INEC was supposed to be independent? This country sef?
So who did you expect Inec to defend? LP or PDP?

In 2018 after the election in Osun, INEC defended Oyetola at the tribunal against Adeleke.

In 2022 after the election in Osun, INEC defended Adeleke against the same Oyetola they defended in 2018.

You'll just be doing cho cho up and down. You say INEC rig your candidate and declare APC the winner but you don't want them to defend the result they announced.

last 2 months, I subscribed for DStv using visa Option on the DStv app, it was declined and I was debited, I did it the second time using flutterwave (which I've been using) it was successful and I was debited..

I logged complaint to both my bank and the DStv platform.. DStv said that I got value for my money (which is probably the 2nd subscription) I made it known to them that I did it twice.. the first was declined while the 2nd went through.. they said they only received money for the 2nd..

I carried the case to my bank which is KUDA.. they logged the case... Each time I check ✅ on the case.. they tell me they re waiting on the recipient which is the DStv for the feedback..

Fast forward to few days ago.. after like 3 months waiting.. they replied me that the recipient (DStv) replied them that I got my real value ..

That was how I lost that 14k+.. no refund.. case closed.. although there is option for escalation..

These tech companies are thief's I must say.. it's hard to see any department 🏬 in Nigeria that is devoid of corruption and fraud huh
Message them again and explained that the transaction happened twice and the one Dstv was talking about was the first transaction.

This kind of scenario happened to me with Zenith Bank, I did a transaction twice, the first didnt go through and the second one did. When i contacted Zenith and after like a week they said the company said i got value for money. I had to explain for the guy that called me that if he check the transaction he will see 2 different debit to the same organization, 1 went through and 1 didn't. He checked and said it's true. I was refunded within 24hrs after the call.

He will still most likely be made CBN Governor when the removal of Emefiele is ratified by the NASS after whatever information they are doing.

It's the first time I'm hearing about Special Adviser on Monterary policies which is the job of a CBN Govenor.

shoprite has pulled out of nigeria

the new owners are nigerian and have no need to demand forex based rent figures. it should actually be clear to anyone who shops at any of the malls, because the standard is dropping all around. there are now some very very razz looking shops in shoprite festac. you already know they cannot be paying in forex.
Even the prices of things have always been quoted using the parallel rate. Almost all market prices are determined with the parallel rate.
