Peter obi is a unicorn. If he had entered he would have waved his magic wand and Nigeria would have turned to Dubai - just like that.

All you have to do is look at soludo, who is also taking the hard and unpopular decisions right now, rather than engaging in touchy Feely photo ops. That is what real leaders do.
One thing I'm glad for is that Tinubu is not following in whatever steps that Buhari followed economic wise.

He should take the hard decisions now and hopefully things get better for it. I dont want him to start following the populist agenda at this critical point. Do what as to be done to get this country back on the right path.

The Buhari that everyone is blaming created an MSME clinic in the 6 region of the country where MSME can meet, aggregate and showcase their product and also get on the spot solution for whatever challenges they are getting.

As at today, there are 30 shared facility for MSME in the country.

Money can be generated from selling defunct refineries.

Ajaokuta steel.

Money borrowed for subsidy removal......

Might be wrong though
So Peter Obi will just enter and put the refineries on sale immediately?

Sell off Ajaokuta steel also.

Do you even know how long the process of selling off National assets is?

Do you know you will have to pay gratuity to those working in those assets that you intend to sell?

The last thing I've heard of the $800m loan was Buhari sending request to the NASS to approve the loan. Whether they have approved the loan and whether world bank has approved and disbursed the loan I dont know.

For argument sake, let's say he get those assets sold off within 6 months, so tell us how the second part of my post will be done. Give out loan to SME? Grant or what?

So where will the money to put into SME come by? Where will he raise the funds from?

Which sector of the SMEs will the funds be available to and how do they access it?

Also you agree you were wrong ba about "ALL PETROLEUM PRODUCTS ARE EXEMPTED FROM VAT"
So it's not impossible to have petrol VAT?
all it takes is to remove it from the exemption list ba?
Now is that impossible?
What was in the Finance Act was "All Petroluem Product". I have no idea why AGO was removed from the description of what a petroluem product is. Only Zainab, the former finance minister can answer that.

What is happening next month is review of the tariff as scheduled, it's better you wait for the review first.

From what I have seen, diesel is not exempted from VAT
Used to be. I remember reading a KPMG article in 2020 asking the former finance minister to clarify if VAT will be paid on Diesel seeing as AGO was removed from the description of petroleum products in the schedule order she signed in 2020.

Not sure anything was said about it since then.

You are saying the Buhari led FG could not review or step in whatsoever to create a way to ensure the people are protected this period.

You have not said anything new because the price will still go up.
You make it seem like these things are cast in stone and cannot be changed or NERC chairman cannot be asked to not increase while FG pays this particular subsidy.

Let the poor breef guy.
E hard for you to understand?
If the Buhari led FG did not protect the people, why do you think the price hasn't skyrocketed?

Larride are you trying to have a conversation or are you trying to talk like a party man?
Let me know first to decide if to be serious or waste your time
Your problem is that when anybody explain the process how things work for you, you automatically means the person is talking as a party man.

I just explain to you the process that NERC and the stakeholders in the energy business has been running the industry.

Since 2014 when electricity was unbundled and privatized, NERC and the Discos usually review tariff based on a lot of criteria to come up with whatever tariff the Discos will charge. They review most is supposed to be 5yrs and then year on year.

When the first agreement was made in 2014 and the first tariff made $ was 198/1, when the review was done in 2020, $ was 400/1 which cause the tariff to spike during that period, in 2022 another tariff review was done, with $ at 440/$, it caused another tariff hike. A new tariff review is due next month and nobody knows how much the price will be.

What's most important is that the price of gas as crashed which should reflect in the new price but the floating of the naira means the difference in exchange rate will be an important factor.

The issue for me is why NERC is agreeing to use $ benchmark for an economy that runs on naira.

So wetin you dey try do?

Oya protect him nau.

But you'll still buy light for this high amount too because as usual in your mind, me complaining is me doing Obi vs Tinubu.
Yes you are confused. Electricity has been privatized. Everyone knows that.

Of course, I will pay for the energy the same way you and your bands will pay for the energy the same we have all been paying for the energy.

The koko is that you didnt read the article before coming here to spurn "they want to remove subsidy on electricity" and your band of trolls lap it up.

Lmao..

Woye is an idiot.

Abi suddenly president nor dey ask NASS to do amendment.

As if nor be the same buhari amend cbn act for ways and means to 15% this year to cover the borrowings.

Again Woye na idiot🤣
It's like you guys dont know that most part of electricity has been privatized?

NERC is the regulator of that space and without them, most of these Discos will just be charging anything they want as electricity tariff.

If you read the article I posted, the government is paying these Discos 50bn every month to subsidize their shortfall. 50bn every month is 600bn yearly that the govt has to pay Discos whether they meet their quota of at least 5000MW distribution or not.

One thing I dont understand is why they NERC is pricing electricity based on $$ when we have enough gas in the country.

What's in the news that changes this.

There is going to be a possible hike of over 40% of tarrif.
What in the news will change that the common man will pay even more?
What the news does is explain the reason.
It doesn't change what is most likely to happen.

So again what is the difference?
So is it the President that is removing "subsidy" on electricity or hiking the price as you and your bands want us all to believe this morning?

You can't buy any decent Toks car below 5-6m now.

Someone I know got a car loan of 7m, he had to add some money to buy a Nigerian used car

The original plan was to buy a Tokunbo. The prices he got shocked him cheesy
The customs 9yrs rule is that you cant import a car that's more the manufactured date is more than 9yrs, but if you want to import a car that is more than 9yrs old in production, you have to pay the same tariff as nearest one.

For example, now you can't import car that's manufactured below 2014, but if you want to import a car that's below 2014 model, you have to pay tariff of a 2014 model.

I have no idea but let me check CBN website, they usually publish it on their website.

The market is yet to stabilize. I dont think the market has enough liquidity yet. That's why CBN is increasing withdrawal limits from dom account to $10k per day. With time the market will stabilize.

Technically I don’t even think the Stalingrad encirclement was a great tactical pincer by the Russians as such. It was more of the Germans pushing forward stupidly and refusing to retreat (because if Hitler’s mad instructions) and the encirclement happened naturally as more and more Russians arrived to their flanks and back.
Once the encirclement took place though the Russians squeezed the Germans to death in an unbreakable vice.

The great tactical encirclement battles that I can remember are Changping by Bai Qi, Cannae by Hannibal, Tannenberg by Ludendorff.

Khalid Ibn-Walid also used it. Alp Arslan also used it at Manzikert.

Battles of Marathon and Hydaspes can also be called pincer movements.

Larride on that Osmanonline website there is a series about Alp Arslan as well. He was the greatest ruler of the Seljuk Turks who came before the Ottomans. If you liked Ertugrul you wll like that one too.
Ertugrul used to talk about Alp Arslan alot in that series.

I'll check it out.
