izzou: [color=royalblue]The largest off grid solar plant in Africa is the Sahel region Solar plant in Burkina Faso
It's a 33 Megawatt plant and it produced about 15Mw in its test phase
The one in BUK is not up to 10Mw sef.

iamoyindamola: okay good let's start with his manifestos. National security Dollar rate Electricity Employment Standard of living ( can someone minimum wage start a family or survive with his family) Feeding school children Give youths monthly stipend Corruption
I think that's all I can remember, please with all sincerity rate those I listed You still didn’t explain what you meant by not leading in the “right direction”. What does the right direction mean to you? Now back to your post, I will try and answer each to the best of my knowledge and I hope you are actually ready for an open discussion and not grandstanding. Nevertheless, here it goes: 1. National Security. On Terrorism, I score him 7. There have been tremendous improvement in both the Military hardware and successes in the fight against BH. We no longer hear of suicide bombers, market place bombings, religious place bombings and the likes. The Military has liberated a lot of territories from BH and ISWAP. Prior to the Buhari led Administration, we had local government in the North under the control of BH. No single territory or LG are in the hands on these terrorist anymore. On Policing generally, this is where I score Buhari low as I expected police reforms from him. 2. Dollar Rate I’m not sure what this means, so maybe you can explain. 3. Electricity. If you really understand how electricity works in the country then you will know that component of the electricity sector was sold to private investors prior to 2015. We now have Gencos (Electricity Generating Companies) Discos (Electricity Distributing Companies) and TCN (Transmission Company). It is important to note that as at Dec 2014, Nigeria has the capacity to generate about 4,900MW and as at May last year, Nigerian currently has the capacity to generate over 8,000MW. That’s almost double Nigeria capacity in 4 years.Away from that, the Energizing Economic Initiative under the Rural Electrification Agency has recorded some major success. The initiative objective is to provide uninterrupted power supply to over 100k establishments in economic clusters around the country to boost productivity. The pilot phase has been concluded. The pilot phase was in Lagos - Sura Shopping complex, Abia - Ariaria market and Kano - Sabon Gari market. Both Sura and Ariaria market are been powered by Independent Power Plant (IPP) while the Sabon Gari is been powered by decentralized solar technology. Still under REA, there’s Energizing Education Programme which goal is to provide clean and sustainable power supply to 37 federal universities and 7 teaching hospitals. The one in Alex Ekueme University in Ebonyi State has been completed and commissioned. Another one in Bayero University Kano (BUK) has been completed and commissioned. In fact the one commissioned in Kano is the largest off-grid solar power plant in Africa. 4. Employment As at 2015, Nigeria unemployment rate was 5.31% and as at last year, our unemployment rate was 6.11%. This is considering the fact that we have gone through recession and back. Also, this administration has employed over 500k Youth through N-Power, over 90k cooks was employed directly under the NHGSFP. 5. Standard of Living Considering that some states are struggling to pay the previous minimum wage and were owing salary, how do you think they are going pay the new minimum wage? The new minimum wage is based on our current reality. With time, it will improve. 6. School Feeding Program. Under the National Social Investment Program (NSIA), Nigeria has the largest School feeding program in Africa. The National Home Grown School Feeding Program (NHGSFP) is currently feeding over 8.5m primary 1-3 pupils in over 40,000 schools in 35 states in the country. 7. Youth monthly stipend See N-Power 8. Corruption. The EFCC has gotten over 1,000 convictions since this administration started. Under this administration, we have seen SGF sacked for corruption and currently standing trial, we have seen Head of Service of the federation indicted and removed for corruption, we have seen the head of the judiciary stand trial for non declaration of asset, we have had high profile case convictions. Under this administration, we now know, stealing is CORRUPTION. So tell me sodik, what do you think? Let’s hear your views. |

BlueRayDick: Does it mean these agencies are self regulatory and don't answer to anybody as regards remuneration of their staff? Well, I don't know much about this and can't argue about it sha, but if this is true it means it leaves room for them to have Ghost workers; which is one of the reason FG is pushing for the implementation of IPPIS.
Meanwhile, it is a known fact these lecturers are not saints just like the rogue politicians dragging them. They are all product of the society we live in. Of course not, it’s not that those agencies are self regulatory, it’s just that they have a lot of control over their internal workings that lots of other agencies doesn’t. They are still subject to other relevant laws. If we really do want change in the country, we must be ready for lots of disruptive actions. The civil service is the breeding ground of corruption. It’s those in the civil/public service that helps politicians to turn rogue. |

BlueRayDick: Well, seems this FG vs ASUU is more like evil fighting evil here. The evil that has more leverage will come out tops.
FG paying for shortfall of their PAYE should not have happened at all. They should've laid this bare all along and let people see what ASUU and its members are.....The federal government we are made to understand subsidizes tuition fees for student, what sort of 4ckery is subsidizing lecturers' PAYE again ?
But then again, the FG agencies that are not under the IPPIS makes FG lack moral ground to enforce the IPPIS on ASUU and makes ASUU to want a continuation of their largese( If FG's story is true) At the bolded, it doesn’t. Those agencies were set up as revenue generating agencies and the Act establishing them gives them the legal backing to take out revenue collection cost for their day to day running. ASUU is not. There are over 400 MDAs drawing salary from IPPIS platform, using CBN, FIRS, NNPC and NCS who are revenue generating agency as shield is just ASUU trying to grasps at straws. Those years of strike by ASUU has given them a lot of powers especially over their respective University management and a tool to blackmail the government. That rubbish must stop. Even the current ASUU National President, Prof Ogunyemi is from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) which is a State University. State University are owned by state government and their salary are being paid by the state government. I won’t be shocked if it’s revealed that he’s drawing multiples salaries from the coffers of the FG. |

BlueRayDick: I read the article and I need to understand something here. Pray tell, who is responsible for paying university lecturers? I mean is it ASUU or Federal government?
1. The reason I need this clarification is the claim of the OAGF saying ASUU members underpaid payee. How? I work in a private firm and before I get my salary is paid my pensions and tax is deducted from source. The accounts/ finance department is responsible if whatever tax they deducted is underestimated or not remitted as required. The tax authorities have a job to take it up with them.
2. I think it makes no sense for government to make such statement as " ASUU members have been under paying PAYE tax for years and they have been covering for them " It shows the government, ministry of finance, FIRS, OAGF etc have very useless. If a set of taxpayers have been underpaying tax for years running into billions, is the sensible thing to do not write to them or their employers for clarifications or sanctions ? Why are we reading about this senselessness in a national daily at this period ?
3. You remember you talked about FG being the employer and that they should be able to dictate the contract if employment ? You know were of the opinion that the employee(ASUU) should not be dictating the terms of salary payment when those ones were saying they are not ready to drop BVN?
Now see FG claiming they rely on list submitted by ASUU which contained dead members . Are they supposed to rely on such lists without verification ? Is that how an employer that is supposedly powerful behaves?. Before now, the way the FG pays his worker in the tertiary institutions differs. FG every month send bulk personnel cost to each University and the Universify managements are the one that pays the lecturers salary, allowances and the likes. It’s one of the reason why ASUU are vehemently refusing to come on IPPIS because it will expose a lot of rot in the system. The University managements are the one that are supposed to deduct the tax and remit it to the FIRS but ASUU has been able to arm-twist those management (which most of their members are ASUU member themselves) who have 1 or 2 skeletons in their cupboard. Coupled that with rogue tax officials, then you get this concondrum. Even the list ASUU sends FG with BVN, 1,180 of them didn’t match with the records and had to be sent back to their various institution for verification. They earn illegal allowances, draw multiple salaries under the guise of “Sabbatical”, they are underpaying PAYE and you are wondering why they are vehemently against IPPIS. |

Each public primary school in all the states under the NHGSFP are the beneficiaries. NHGSFP is aliasing with each state education board since they are the one in charge of primary education in their state. Each pupil has their records with the State Education Board, so pupils address will be gotten from there. donjazet: Wrong. Not all politicians started from grassroots. Some were technocrats or bureaucrats who were simply handpicked by their principals to succeed them. Eg, Obianno of Anambra. I don't need to remind you that majority of the current political class are political offsprings of former military regimes . Many state governors and senators were handpicked individuals who necessarily didn't have to build up their image.
Some simply have the privilege of being from wealthy well known families.
All our democratic presidents had no grassroots buildup. Obasanjo was from the military. He handpicked yaradua to succeed him because of his late army brother who had died. Jonathan was a professor who was handpicked by Alamesie in other to balance the zoning ticket on recommendation from Peter odilli. As a matter of fact, he was chosen as VP by Obasanjo because he was perceived as weaker than odilli. Jonathan never had any strong grassroots movement even till today despite having served as president. He has been a victim of extreme luck.
I don't need to tell you about buhari. In as much as he had a fanatical following in his region, it was a following built as a result of his past military leadership. Not all politics is local, this is Nigeria, we don't have a system yet where people can crop up genuinely. It is difficult. Do you know the meaning of third force? With all Buhari fanatical support base in the North, why didn’t he win in the previous 3 elections he contested in? Look at all the example you give, they all have one thing in common: PARTY STRUCTURE. I’m not sure you really understand this argument. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by larride(m): 12:50am On May 14, 2020 |
donjazet: As someone posted earlier, at THIS POINT, going to vote for a third party candidate is a waste of time when you know the impossible odds of that candidates number making a dent not to talk of winning, however one can still enact change in other people's mind by relentlessly educating and informing others of the need for change both in person and on social media. On my watsapp, facebook, twitter and instagram page, I constantly advocate for radical change in our political and religious mindset. Overtime, more will key into this.
I have made a lot of people around me start questioning what they believe, that's effective work if you ask me. You can’t make a dent overnight. People have to trust you first. You have to show leadership attribute before they can even begin to trust your candidacy. The first point is always your locality. All politics is local. Let me give you an example. James Faleke. For those that don’t know his story, let me share briefly. I was staying in Ojodu Berger when he became the chairman of Ojodu LCDA, he did what other chairmen have never done, he made sure all the inner street were smooth and laid with asphalt, gave Ojodu a new look. 4 years later he went for House of Assembly representing the same constituency and he won with a landslide. From there he was nominated as Deputy Gov to the late Audu in Kogi APC. If not for some technicalities, he would have being the Gov of Kogi State today. You build capacity and support base from your locality. Your locality must be able to vouch for you. Look at what Banky W is doing in Eti Osa, he lost the last election to APC but he’s still visible doing all sort to remain in the mind of those in his community. Look at how Akin Alabi became a Rep. Examples abound, let them sowore n co start from somewhere before they start eyeing the top job. |
