BlueRayDick: This shows we have so many vague laws in Nigeria.
Very soon we will start seeing Murderers walking free from the guillotine because their lawyers know technicalities. At least we've seen electoral fraud standing because of technicalities and we are seeing a convicted criminal almost walking because of same reason.
It's just a pity. I'm sure OUK will apply for a bail soonest and he will go about his senatorial business soon enough.
So if a retrial starts, a new judge is assigned the case and aftertge trial lasts for another decade the same situation arises and the judge is promoted. What will happen? Will the president of federal high clue reassign the case to a judge who will pronounce judgement or they will invoke this same Act that got them into this present mess? The President of the high court should have reassign the case to another judge and all accompanying exhibits and document transferred to the new judge to finish the case. OUK will definitely get bail. It’s really a sorry state. |

Amoto94: How many barrels are sold per day and at what price as at then? The recovered funds can't all be looted by the regime, remember we were sanctioned and we had bills to pay I think to circumvent the sanctions the regime used third-parties to lodge money abroad for foreign transaction purposes. Are some of the recoveries looted the probability and possibility is very high, but are all of them loots? I highly doubt it Nigeria was producing around 1.9m barrel of oil per day and oil was selling for average of $18. It was rumored that 70% of those revenue was never paid into the federation account but his own accounts in America and Europe. |

BlueRayDick: I guess this finally shows all 3 arms of government in Nigeria are faulty.
So a judge knowing fully well he’s been promoted from federal high court to Appeal court still passed a judgement in a federal high court case . Honestly something is wrong in this country.
Now the whole trial and prosecution was an effort in futility. That’s a waste of tax payers money. Is there not supposed to be an inquiry panel or something to be set up to look into this and unravel how we ended up here?
Now a criminal like Orji Uzor Kalu will walk free not because the charges against him are untrue, but because of mere technicalities like a judge forgetting which court he actually presides over now.
Naija Na wa o According to the Suprem Court judgement, they ordered a re-trial. He wasn’t acquitted and discharged. I do agree that it’s a waste of tax payer money. 12 years to finally get a conviction and the Supreme Court overruled it on technicalities. The fault doesn’t lay with the Judge but with those that enacted the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA 2015). Section 396 in subsection 7 provided that a judge in the high court that has been elevated to court of appeal shall have dispensation to sit at the high court to pass judgement. The President of Court of Appeal granted the judge a fiat under that section 396 subsection 7 of ACJA which enable the Judge to sit and pass judgement on the trial. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court rules that the fiat is unconstitutional. Any law or Act that is in conflict with a constitutional provision will give way to the Constitution. The Supreme Court orders a fresh trial. What a waste of taxpayers money.

They can go the way or no relegation and no promotion or just promote the first 3 in the championship, expand the league to 23 teams and stop the carabao cup for next season. Once the season ends, 6 team relegate and things go back to normal. Top 4 remains as it is. If City ban hold, then 5th replace them in Europe. No time for sentiment. |

gensteejay: So, people should start talking after it's been passed into law?
Should the NDDC boss and other stakeholders complaining about not being carried along in the exercise wait for the bill to be signed into law before voicing out their concerns?
I'm sure you know the bill has already scaled the second reading in the lower chamber of the National Assembly last week. This is what you said: gensteejay: https://twitter.com/tvcnewsng/status/1257641064187469825
Why sign a bill for mandatory vaccination for a vaccine that's still said to be about 18 months away to be ready for public use?
Things done in a hurry (driven by fear) and without due consultations usually don't end well. Accept that you were wrong, the bill hasn’t been signed yet. Now back to the rest of your post, you need to get acquainted with the legislative process. First and second reading of a bill means the bill has been accepted to be deliberated upon, after the second reading then there will be public hearing on the bill then the standing committee will sit and deliberate on the draft bill while taking into consideration all the opinions, ideas and suggestions from the public hearing, the standing committee will then present a final draft bill to the house which will be read for the third time and after which vote will take place to pass the bill into law. After the House of Rep pass it into law, the bill will be sent to the Senate for harmonization and concurrence, the senate will also read the bill and refer the bill to their standing committee to go through the bill and make recommendations, if the senate finds any issue or aspect in the bill that needs correction, they will send the bill back to the House of Rep who will make the necessary adjustment and send back the bill to the senate. After the senate goes through the bill and OK it to be voted upon, the senate put the bill to a vote and if passed, the senate will then transmit the bill to the President who will either assent to the bill or reject before it becomes an act of Parliament. You welcome. |

eph12: What do you think the issue was at the beginning of all these? Instead of them taking samples for testing and trying to nip things in the bud, they were doing mass burial immediately. Does this make sense? Most of these people that died didn’t die in the hospital. They died at home and were buried in accordance to their religious belief. It wasn’t the government that buried them, it was their people. It’s another thing entirely if they were dieing at the hospital and no test was being conducted. The government of Kano cannot be absolved of blame in this issue because large scale number of death within a week shouldn’t have gone undetected. |

Of course, but you should know most of those that died has been buried already, so how do you get samples for testing? Unless maybe to want to test their close contacts and even at that, most of those buried are unidentifiable. |

In this case, how could verbal autopsy ever help ascertain the number of deaths that were covid-19 related when the symptoms of covid mimicks other sickness dat are renown to Nigerians like malaria?? eph12: Yes, and I didn't state otherwise.
I hope you know verbal autopsy is not enough to arrive at a conclusion in this pandemic? Like BlueRay once said, without posthumous testing, there will be no way to 100% ascertain if the deaths are Covid19 related or not but Verbal Autopsy does give a clue about what to point to. I asked that question because of the way you were ridiculing the Verbal Autopsy. The data they will get from the VA will be used to a certain degree to ascertain the likely cause of death. I’m not a doctor and I’m not sure if I heard Malaria causes shortness of breath, dry cough and the likes. |

We are comparing 2 players....their career.
You are bringing part of it.
Agenda must agend Both of them play together in EPL from 06 - 14. They both were in their prime. It’s not about any agend, for those years they played together, Vidic was better than him and his 2 times Premier league player of the year attest to the fact. Since 94/95 that Premier league started awarding Player of the season, Vidic was the first defender to win it and as at today, he’s the only defender to win it twice. |

Even Maldini/Cannaravo/ Nesta will suffer with the defenders and goalkeepers in Man Utd during 2003-2006. From 06/07 - 13/14 that they both play together in the EPL, check this out: Vidic had: More interceptions More blocks More tackles More tackles won More clearances More aerial duel wons More last man tackles More headed clearances More goals More assists More yellow cards More red cards Pray tell Expert, who was organizing who? |
