I just read the ASUU chairman's interview with Nigerian Tribune. He gave reasons for their refusal to provide their BVN.

He claimed the government had been paying them salaries over the years without the use of BVN, where are they suddenly requesting for it now? It is the believed that the government is probably looking for a way to drag them to the IPPIS platform by hook or by crook. ( You know these lecturers think far and wide)

If I was in their shoes too I wouldn't trust the federal government and I will be angry as well. Does anybody request for the BVN of Legislooters, Judisharing and Executives before paying them?
The government is not going to continue doing things the old way. The government is coming to a compromise to pay them during this pandemic yet they are saying the government should go pay them through the old method. BVN will expose the lot of them taking multiple salary from the system.

FG gave directive that all its agencies, ministry and department that are not yet on the integrated system to enroll in IPPIS.

First ASUU refused saying they have autonomy, later they said IPPIS cannot accomodate their peculiarities like age of retirement, visiting lecturer n so on. Then they brought UTAS and say the government should be paying them through it. cheesy

FG refused and gave them deadline to enroll or they won’t get their salary. Some enrolled and some didn’t. Since Feb FG stopped payment to those not enrolled on the platform and then ASUU declare indefinite strike in March.

Yesterday, Buhari gave approval for their withheld salary to be paid (Feb/March) so they can at least provide for their families during this pandemic. Tonight ASUU says they are not going to drop their BVN to get paid. cheesy

Join IPPIS, No. Oya drop your BVN, No. what exactly is ASUU problem?

This country na proper cruise sha. Employees telling their employer how and which platform they should use to pay them.

Wiser to allow fools to suffer in slavery (religions).

It's because of fools like these some books are hidden. When a person grows in intelligence and knowledge, they will be able to gain certain knowledge.

For now, they can keep wallowing in slavery, praying to dead gods that don't grant requests.

Much of the so called non oil allocation is still connected to the oil sector.

Now is time to ditch any expense except food and shelter cos things go rough.

This is why I said Naija Govt must allow people out on the streets to make their daily hustle. We can't afford lockdown at all. While Govt revenue has disappeared, 95% of Nigerians do not rely on that but on the informal sector. Allow these people to go out and make their bread to limit social disorder.

BTW, as to our old argument as to distribution of palliatives, see how UK Govt keeps database. 1.5 million people with underlying conditions received a letter telling them not to go out for any reason even shopping. They call it shielding. My brother in law and popsie received the letter 3 days after Govt announced it. They simply mined their health records and sent the letter with speed. See wetin Govt dey deliver them weekly so they don't have to leave the house. I go still need to dey supply swallow and soup ingredients to my popsie sha, cos I know he can't stomach this.
I think we are heading to the reopening of the economy sha. Sanwo-Olu hinted that they are trying to produce 1m face masks to distribute to people starting from next week. They are making it compulsory for anyone going out from next week to wear face mask.

Airport has been closed for another 2 weeks yesterday, so International traveling is still a no go area for now.

I believe they should lift the lockdown when this current one ends but the fear is the social distancing. How many people will keep to it. Kano is already reporting multiple death on the street. We really don’t want things to go that way.

Even Lagos is VERY DEPENDENT on oil money. No government ( Federal, State or Local) in Nigeria can do without oil money at this point in time.
Wrong. Lagos is not VERY DEPENDENT on oil money.

Let’s take last year breakdown for example, from Jan to Dec last year, Federal allocation to Lagos is 152.4bn while Lagos generate 205.6bn in SIX MONTH ( Jan 1 - June 30).

#COVID19Thoughts: TSUNAMI LOADING ...

If you are a state governor in Nigeria and you are not already working round the clock, night and day, you are playing with fire. Red-hot, napalm FIRE!

Here is your reality. Bonny Light (Nigeria’s crude oil) is trading at about $11. This is half the cost of producing the barrel. Even at that price, Nigeria is not able to sell her crude oil. She has tens of millions of barrels of crude oil in scores of vessels cruising the seas, like a gala seller in Lagos traffic, looking for customers. No is calling; no one is buying. Nigeria is offering a $5 discount per barrel but who will buy when U.S. shale oil is selling for $2 (and no one is buying that either). Nigeria has other bigger challenges because it does not have onshore crude oil storage so she has to put her oil on vessels. In the last week, the cost of renting the vessels doubled to $350,000 per day. Do you see the picture?

Clearly, this has to be the lowest the oil price can fall, right? Wrong! Over the weekend, Canadian oil hit -$3. Not $0; minus $3. They, too, are not selling. Why? China - the factory of the world - is running at a fraction of its capacity. The airlines are shutdown. Farms and factories are shut down. Many analysts are saying that the world may not get back on its feet for a few more months. In reality, we may be stuck in this new world until a vaccine is found for the novel Coronavirus and a major percentage of the global population vaccinated. Unknot your tie, we may be in this new world for a while.

Mr. State Governor, why should you care? The world as you know it has changed and nothing has prepared you for what you and the residents in your state are about to experience. All state governments except Lagos depend on allocations from the sale of Nigeria’s crude oil for most of their revenue. The Federal Government allocations to the states started dropping off a few months ago. It will get worse.

About a month ago, I had a chat with one of the State Commissioners for Budget and Economic Planning. At that time, he was already petrified by what he was seeing. The cheque from the federal government was getting lighter. Sadly, he couldn’t get his principal and colleagues to understand that what they saw moving in the distance were not clouds but a Tsunami that is gathering speed. Many of the state governors still can’t see it.

Mr. State Governor, the catastrophe is close at hand but you still have some time to lay the sandbags. This is the time to get into emergency mode and plan for the worst. What will you do when it becomes obvious to you, in a few weeks, that you can’t pay salaries and provide the basic minimum public services required in your state? What are the economic choices you have to make today? What things do you have to cut off today to be able to tide over tomorrow?

What will you do when hordes of criminals take to the street, looting and killing people, in search of something to eat? What if there are multiple demonstration by different groups of people in different parts of your state? What are your options?

Who are the people who would help you maintain public order? I am sure you are not banking on the Nigerian Police Force. They won’t have enough bullets to kill the number of people who would be on the streets. It can’t be the vigilante groups. They may be the ones doing the looting and killing. Basically, how are you going to balance this elephant on the top of a needle?

Set up your “war-room” now. Pull in your best thinkers. Borrow from other states and outside Nigeria if you must.

Reach out to everyone who has a voice in your state. Your best solution may be to convince the people instead of through coercion. Decide who is in the best position to convince the different groups of people.

This is no time to be partisan. Turn this problem into a shared one. Don’t let anyone brand it your problem.

Plug the leakages in your system starting with the “security votes”. Call on the illustrious sons and daughters of the state and convince them to join you in planning for and in funding palliatives for the poor and vulnerable.

This is the time to plan and act. Act as if you are convinced that the dam will break. It is more than likely that it would. If it doesn’t, you are still ahead. If it does, you will be ready. Don’t be caught napping. It won’t be pretty.
Winter is here.

Not necessary. I don't have to be the one to recommend such literature.

Other people on Nairaland have many of these books in their e-library, and whenever interested members have an opportunity to interact with them, they could get to read the book.

Truths need no coercion, force, or daily adverts like religions do. If something is true, people will still know no matter how long.

That's my own belief.

As the hermetists say, when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.

Enough said on the subject.
But here I am since morning begging you to tell me the name of the book so I can read and begin to gain illumination.

Modified: The book isn't a must-read to see your gods and priests in religion for the fraud they're. Anyone with a basic IQ level can reach that conclusion by putting their critical thinking skills to use.
So you are saying the book is no longer important but basic IQ and critical thinking skills?
