Christianity Etc › Re: Ban Religion For Africa To Move Forward... by larride(m): 8:30am On Jan 03, 2013
Christianity is not a religion. Christainity is a way of life. After the death of christ, his discples were called followers of chirst, when they got to antioch and the people there saw their behavior, they said they are christ-like which in-turn makes every followers of Christ a christain. Apostle Paul says we should check ourselves daily maybe we are still in Christ. Jesus had laid down princples for us, to guide us and make us a better person. His greatest commandment is LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF, christainity is being like christ, following in the foot-step on christ himself, go and read the 4 first gospel in the new testament and see the teaching of christ, his admonition with an open heart, then maybe you will understand more. Its our FAITH that makes us whole, when I pray to good for healing, I have faith in him that he will make me whole and he did, God answers prayers. Christianity to me isn't a religion but a way of life.

I just read these, a big thumbs up to the law enforcers. Our leaders need to start taking responsibility for their action.

Traffic offence: Ekiti lawmaker weeps over N30,000 fine
December 13, 2012 by Femi Makinde, Ado-Ekiti

The lawmaker representing Moba Constituency II at the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mrs. Ayoka Fatumbi, broke down in tears as officials of Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency fined her N30,000 for violating traffic laws.

It was gathered that the lawmaker’s car, a Toyota Sienna, was impounded by officials of the agency for packing loaves of bread on the roof of the car and for using the House of Assembly number plate on her private car.

The car with number plate EKHA 03, was said to have been impounded at Ajilosun area around 9.20am on Wednesday.

The car was brought to the premises of the agency.

However, the Chairman of the EKSTMA, Mr. Sola Waya, and the General Manager of the agency, Mr. Charles Fasuba, disagreed on the fine slammed on the lawmaker.

While the chairman was said to have asked the lawmaker to go without paying any fine, Fasuba insisted that the woman must pay the fine.

Fasuba said, “The law is not only for the poor but for both the poor and the rich. The laws were not made for just a section of the society. It doesn’t matter which religion or political party you belong, if you violate the law you will be made to pay for it.

“It is sad for a lawmaker that was a part of the House which passed the law to violate it. Anybody who violates the law will pay the fine.”

However, Fatumbi pleaded that she was not aware that she had to get a permit from the agency before using a vehicle with carrier to transport goods.

The lawmaker said, “The materials in the vehicle are for the empowerment programme in my constituency tomorrow (today).

“ I don’t know we have to get a permit at the agency before we can use the car to carry load since it has a carrier. I don’t know that a vehicle that has carrier cannot be used to carry load in Ekiti State.”

Politics › Re: Public Power Supply Continues To Improve by larride(m): 11:06pm On Dec 28, 2012
Power has improved in Nigeria but I'm I not living in Nigeria, in my area around Ojodu Berger, Lagos, we haven't seen just a blink of light for over 2weeks now, normally we used to ration it, 6 - 7hrs per day but now nothing, even along the lagos-ibadan expressway (Ibafo) I haven't seen light for over a month. So I'm asking, are these area no more part of Nigeria since power has improved but here its still same old same.

Highbros: it's impossible for the people to change without the country changing. If the country can change its people will be forced to change. Telling the people to change first is like telling those in Niger Delta University to behave like those in Harvard University. Yes! A change in every nation starts with the people because the Government represent the people.
I agree that change doesn't occur over night but our mindset must change first if we will be able to process that change. A case in study is when Gov. Fash was demolishing houses that where built on the road side, in drainage, everyone was shouting against him that he doesn't care about the masses but if he doesn't demolish those houses and there's an accident, they will be the first to lay blame on the government. When he prohibit okada riders in some certain roads, a lot of people still shout and complain that he doesn't care about the masses but if there's any accident concerning these okada riders, we are still going to blame the government, to sanitize the nation and move forward some harsh decisions needs to be made unless there will be no development. We need to start looking/thinking outside the box, to change the status quo, our mindset must change, our attitude towards the nation must change, our determination must change, we must work together as one body, the consitution isn't going to do all that for us but moral values will. I'm for amending the constitution and also changing our mindset about as people of this great nation.
Politics › Re: We Can Succeed With The Worst Constitution - Fashola by larride(m): 10:17am On Dec 27, 2012
Thank You Gov. Fash, that's basically what I was saying in the other thread. Like someone said above, even if a new constitution is brought forward with this our mindset, we will surely find a loophole to bend it in our favour. A change in every nation starts with the people, if the people are not ready to change, the nation won't change. We need to start large scale re-orientation to everyone, not just about good governance but about our responsibilities, our rights and the fundametal moral values. Once we get those right and we are united without any ethnic sentiments or emotions then we can begin to voice our opinions in one voice, then we can begin to enact those changes we want by demanding good governance from our leaders. Government CAN'T/WON'T do everything for us, we are the one that makes the constitution and not the other way round. Ask yourself this, even if we change the constitution, will it stop corruption, kidnapping, terrorism, scams? Until our mindset is changed, until we hold dear our moral values, nothing will change. Changing the constitution doesn't literally translate to a better nation. We really have lots of work to do. The first step is re-orientation of the masses, our mindset needs to change and we need to stop this tribal war. Whether we like it or not, we are all in this together both the Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa, we are all in this together.

What Gov. Fashola said is right, we as a people of this nation, we need to do soul searching and reflect in all our ways, the Nigerian system has decayed us, moral values doesn't count among us, tribal war is the order of the day, We demand good leadership from our goverment but we too docile or stagnant to do what's needed, for a nation to move forward, its not just about the government, we the people have lots of responsibilities to do, not just paying tax, not just shouting and screaming on NL, but being cautious of immediate environment, by thinking about our own safety and the safety of others, the security personnel won't be able to protect us without our own contribution, but the masses and the government must walk together for a better nation. We still have a long way to go as a nation, we continue to lay all blame on the government without searching ourselves, the government CAN'T or WON'T do everything, sometimes we the people need to start doing the right things. Both Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba and all ethnic group in Nigeria, we are all one, we must cut through ethnic sentiment, start re-orientation not just about good governance but also about our responsibilities to the nation. We all crave for change, for somethings to change, somethings will have to be destroyed. Change is gradual and very painful but we must endure if we want to get there. When the government sees that we are united, when they sees that we hold dear our moral values, our responsibilities and right, then our voices will be heard all round the nation with one voice without any ethnic sentiment or emotions, that's when we will start making progress. Before Nigeria will start to progress, we Nigerians must first be willing to pay the price for change.
