Politics › Re: Lagos Trailer Driver Jailed For Driving Against Traffic by larride(m): 11:42am On Jan 10, 2013
kenmaro: A 3 months imprisonment or a fine of 100,000 and seizure of the vehicle is on the high side for a traffic offense. Instead, i think a one(1) month social work or a fine of 25,000 with a mandatory 7days driver's re-certification and a non-seizure of the vehicle is OK. After all, the vehicle did not drive itself wrongly rather it was operated by a human. I tell you this country Nigeria does not have a fair judicial system for the helpless Nigerian citizen. If it was an elite citizen(the "who is who" in the society), do we think these kind of punishment would have been judiciously applied? Go around Lagos state to see a lot of siren blaring convoys driving against traffic in their quest to either catch-up a flight or etc and causing havoc to other road users. Some of these people in these convoys are members of the state cabinet and other top government functionaries. What has the government done to these set of people? Take the case of former speaker of the House of Rep(Salisu Buhari) who was convicted of a case of certificate forgery some years back, what was the punishment for his offense? A mere fine of 1,000naira. But i tell you, just a case of certificate forgery in the quest of employment in a company here in Nigeria will land a helpless citizen(who is a "Nobody"wink in jail with an option of a very bogus fine.
Fashola is really doing great reformations in the state and neither am i against his reformation policies but he should ensure that equal justice is applied to the high and low in the society.
Remember "What is good for the goose is also good for the gender".
But what about the Military officer that was arrested? What about OBJ buses that were arrested and seized, what about the Chief Justice that was arrested. Fashola himself doesn't go around with sirens so where do you see any of his cabinet members or top officials that will do what the number one citizen of the state doesn't do? Until strict laws and prosecution are melted out, those tank trialer won't learn.

No one can deny the fact that power has improved immenesly but Mr. President should be able to quote actual figures since he's the C.I.C. There's a difference between 4500MW and 5000MW. Mr President has tried though but we still have a long way to go but we are getting there little by little. Mr President, please review and verify whatever figures or stats you are going to churn out in public so as not to be seen as a liar.

Politics › Re: What Has Gov. Fash Done To Some Nlders by larride(op): 8:32pm On Jan 06, 2013
Gov. Fash has done a lot for Lagos State and the ban on okada won't change the mind of average Lagosians. Even the okada riders have moved on.
Politics › Re: What Has Gov. Fash Done To Some Nlders by larride(op): 4:11pm On Jan 06, 2013
PointB: It is not about having anything personal against Fashola. The core of the discontent is that Lagos State receives over N30B every month, but there is no commensurate project completed to justify the income. What's even alarming is that most of the project attributed to Fashola are either private sector sponsored or World Bank financed.

Isn't it then worrying that while Lagos State generate high IGR and receives substantial FG allocation, the state is continually being immersed further and further into external debt. If this is not sign of stealing and systematic corruption, pray, say what is?
Go and read up the 100 days in office meeting. Take off your PDP red tinted glasses and see Fashola achievements/project for yourself.

within few years he has been a governor he should be really doing more to it

and he knows that!

but with one man collecting taxes and the other cosigning

there isnt much transparencies there?

what do u say?

Lagos by now should have most of its roads damn solidly built with roads signs visibly display

forget the ACN agbeors in nl; the truth must live am afraid!
I'm sorry but when last did you visit Lagos?
Politics › Re: What Has Gov. Fash Done To Some Nlders by larride(op): 1:17pm On Jan 06, 2013
iamtheprincipal: For me, Gov. BRF has done nothing wrong. Some persons opted to criticise his administration because of his benefactor whom they say has taken possession of Lagos State.
Even at that, they are both different individuals. If you want to rubbish/criticize Tinubu which isn't a saint by the way, you are free to do that but to rubbish Gov. Fash administrations and abilities as a leader with what he has done for Lagos so far, then I don't know what they want him to do. He has done much but he can still do better and he can only achieve that with the speed he's going.
