Family / Re: I Want To Cancel The Marriage Plans. Is It Worth It? by Larryhoover(m): 3:47pm On Dec 30, 2023
FanRong:
I'm sorry, this post is going to be a long one. But you're saving a soul if you read through and advice candidly.

My story
We've dated for 6months and we've lived together for the 6months.

On our 3rd month, I found her interesting and told her I'll like to marry her. She accepted but no engagement ring or anything to show. We just accepted by word of mouth.

Since then, I've worked towards it. I've told her to call her mum and eldest brother(dad is late) to relate my idea and understand their feeling since it won't be that easy to marry. (same state, but my people and her people are highly selective in marriage)

After several persuasion, and threat that I'll throw her out if she doesn't relate the circumstances to her family, she called the mum. And again I had to force her to call the eldest brother. She claimed she did. And that's enough. I'm ok.

Meanwhile, there's this guy(her ex) she claims helped her when she came to Lagos. It was when I started accommodating her that I found out in her chats that she was living with this guy, but lied to me she was living with her Aunt and the aunt's husband was harassing her sexually and she wants to leave. She later told me the guy, though provides for him but has never had sex with her, even when she was living in his house. These stories doesn't move me since everyone, who is not a virgin has an ex. So I forgave all that and we moved on.

She wasn't everything I need in a women, but I told myself I could train her the way I want. We continued adjusting to each others likes and dislikes.

I feed her this 6 months, provide comfortable shelter, buy her things she needs,(not want). Told her I'll do more and open a shop for her, if we get married, but she still confronts me asking why should I wait till after marriage? . I didn't allow the words move me cos Its my decision and my money and also, I'm used to gold diggers.

A good number of times, I see her as being selfish. If things doesn't benefit her, she'll not get bothered even if I'm involved.

Just this week, It became obvious to me that she argues everything I request her to do. From 24th Dec, we've been on holiday, we're always at home.
1. I'll wake her up at 9 and ask her to prepare breakfast for the family, she'll prefer to roll on the bed than do it. I'll finally have to do it myself so I can get things done and get busy.

2. I detest girls on eye lashes. I've repeatedly told her how I dislike it, but when she went to fix herself for the Christmas, she fixed the eyelashes, Contrary to my demand.

3. I got her some sneakers to upgrade her fashion style and look smarter, instead of the usual slippers and sandals she wears.
When we prepared to go to the beach few days ago, I requested her to put on the sneakers to look more fashionable, but she refused buttressing that she must wear what she wants, sandals.

4. Few days ago, we had a heated argument and she said that if I'm not happy that she's living with me, that she can go, afterall, she has somewhere to stay. I asked her to go and she immediately called that her ex bf to come to my house. I immediately swung into action, took all her belongings out, before the ex will arrive, at the same time, retrieving the items I gifted her.
While she was struggling to have her gifted items back, our neighbours heard the struggle and had to come and settle for us. She apologized and I forgave her. we were back into the house.

5. Just yesterday , we left home together, and I locked the door and I took the keys with me. We walked down the street together to the Busstop, I have almost no friend and seldomly greet. But there's this my ex girlfriend by the roadside, she saw me and yelled my name, I went to greet her and my Fiancée picked offence, left me without waiting for me. After that I chased her and told her it's nothing because I've told her everything about this ex.
Before we could get to the Busstop, she demanded for the house keys and I gave her since she might come back earlier than me.
We couldn't say bye. The anger was clear on her face and we parted ways.

After about 15mins, I got to where I wanted to make payment for the items I picked only to notice I am not with my transaction phone. I was confused where could I have kept it, the seller insisted I may not have come to his shop with the phone, and the phone rang as I called with my second phone. so I had to call my Fiancée for assistance since she's with the keys.
At first, she said she was still around the Busstop but when I told her I needed her to go home and confirm my phones whereabout, she said she can't go back that she has gone far, shouted on me and hung the phone.

I called and called and called, but she didn't pick. Many thoughts ran into me. Who took this phone? My money? , my phone? , my sim card? . I had to find my way and trekked back about 4km to the house since I had no cash with me. And finally saw the phone ringing in my house. I was relieved.

The way she shouted to me on the phone got me unbalanced, I felt she would be fire if I get this girl as a wife.

We finally traveled to our home state today and I paid the bills for the traveling. My major plan of traveling was to see her people and do the needful before I mistakenly get her pregnant. But I'm seriously contemplating of canceling this plan and throw her out come January. I need peace.

Dear nairalanders, I'm really in the middle of the deep blue sea and the devil.

I need mature and candid advice please.
Should I continue with the marriage plans or the redflags are obvious?

The way women are wired is different from the way guys are and the truth is you can't always have it all as deduced in the 80/20 rule but there should be a minimum requirement. List out all your preferred minimum or Fundamental requirements in a woman, evaluate it to see if she meet your expectations to take an informed decision.

My former Boss used to say "Don't advise anyone to get married but if as a guy you see a good woman, marriage is good". I think this should also guide you in your analysis.

I wish you all the best Bro!

It is indeed funny despite all the rumours about his health, he chose to ignore and stick with the Law 16 of 48 Laws of Power by Robert Green

Law 16.
"Create an air of scarcity around yourself to increase your perceived value. If you currently exist within an established group, intermittently withdraw so that others talk about you and admire you more. To do this effectively, you must learn when is the right time to withdraw"

He definitely understands how to play politics.

A decent profile and I hope he would lead the change in Benue through provision of democratic dividends.

As a Rev. Father, he should be able to connect with people easily and provide the desired needs. There are blueprints he can tap from e.g Fashola of Lagos, Seyi Makinde of Oyo and Zulum of Borno. You don't have to do big projects before making significant impacts.

With proper implementation of the right policies, he could be the pioneer of Benue liberation.

Though, i haven't seen any of his picture smiling... Lol. But I wish him all the Best.

You are very dumb...what's your stress on this. Are you intelligent than the 20 SANs that filed this petition? Don't be a scum!

The irony of this is that the SANs would cash out as usual but because of your bandwagon effect, your vacuumed head can't see a simple point I made because it didn't suit your narrative.

Why should Obi reported to be 3rd on the result be declared when an Atiku that came 2nd isn't claiming same?

Just try and drop the phone and think, think please.

What emotion? You see why I said you have a small brain. Obi is only complaining and has not started arguing. It's like when someone accuses you of stealing his thing. Both of you are in court, the judge tells you the petition brought by your accuser. You defend yourself that you did not steal. He will now bring his evidence to prove his petition. He will not add his arguments in his petition but will reveal them in court. Don't just conclude a case from petition.

And you can see how your big brain made you sound very dumb.

An analogy of I was beaten and I wrote a petition to disqualify my opponent, it is common sense for the arbitrator to ask "on what ground". If indeed you have a big brain like you claim that shouldn't be hard to answer but I guess your upstairs is a vacuum instead.

If you cannot comprehend a simple question, let me ask simply by saying, why Tinubu should be disqualified should be highlighted in the petition but someone earlier mentioned it could be a tactics which I think that is cool.

Is question of qualification for an election a pre-election matter?

Tinubu had no academic qualification to back his Chicago degree, though the Chicago degree is alleged to have been secured by Tinubu through dubious means.

If a university degree acquired through forged O'Level Certificate, the university degree certificate becomes voided before the law.

It was pre-election matter as it is the responsibility of the party and INEC to ensure a credible candidate represents the party.

Secondly, i thought this was cleared prior to primaries and Chicago State University affirmed his studentship except proved otherwise.

So present facts and not hearsays. The earlier you come up with facts the better as May 29 is just 69 days left.

Mr ITK, what Mr Obi did is just a petition and not an argument. It is left to a judge to determine if the petition stands or not. He is only complaining to the court. Tinubu will respond to the complaint at the law court. You cannot dismiss a petition as lacking merit without examining it, or hearing from the respondent. You should look for the reasoning processes behind the petition and the significant evidences at the disposal of the plaintiff or petitioner. That should be your worry and not acting like an urchin in Nairaland.

Try and make use of your big brain for once.

In as much as I know you will like Obi to emerge, but you also need to look at the validity of this claims. You can't be objective in your analysis if you have picked a side. You need to be neutral to act as an arbitrator and this is the angle the court would judge from and not hearsays and conspiracies.

So rather than screeching here on nairaland I would implore you think deep without emotions and ask yourself if this petition is a solid one.

It is not everything you act on like mob. Sometimes self thought helps and that would help you in this situation.

* Winner/2/3: Once evidence of massive rigging which the illiterates in INEC is trying hard to close is shown & those areas declared null & void, the remaining valid votes will determine who won. Osun judgement will be used as precedence...

No, it's tactical, it doesn't have to make sense. Judgement can be given on technicalities (we have seen this countless times). Since it has to get to the supreme court, have as many grounds as possible. This is Nigeria.

PS: The point about who came second is a nullity because LP is contesting the whole votes allocation called collation. I believe they have evidence to prove they scored higher lawful votes.

I like your response if truly this is tactical move then it would be interesting to see how this unfolds

A prayer for disqualification cannot be based on mere oral statement...

Evidence will be tendered...

You don't have to be a lawyer to think forwardly....

Another one spotted. May be you should go and check the Tribunal petition of Oyetola vs Adeleke and compare it with this joke. Probably then you can tell who is a backward thinker.

Courts are not based on emotions but facts, yes they may have the exhibits somewhere but you need to highlight on the ground of your prayers to the court. The petition only stated they are not qualified and nothing more. But like I said it would be nice to see how the court cases would go.

I just hope some SANs won't end up sounding foolish in the end.

You obviously haven't finished your Almajiri school.
So you didn't read where they insinuated that Obi won the election and got 25% from 2/3 of the state and Abuja?

That is exactly the basis that gives him a strong footing to seek being declared the winner of the february 2023 presidential election.

Here we go again. Not dissecting the issues from emotions as always.

You should go and read the constitution and the electoral act very well and if you follow the elections in Nigeria very well you will have an understanding.

I asked on what ground would 1st respondent be disqualified if he was passed on by party as well as INEC. This has to be stated just like Oyetola is using to support his legal battle in Osun on the basis of forgery allegations on Adeleke.

And if Obi is claiming this then, what should an Atiku that got 25% in 21 states do?

You guys don't understand how elections work as you are headless mob and the reason that if this election is conducted a 100 times you will always loose.

Btw, the result showed that Obi won 25% in 16 states and it would be nice you show us the result of how he won 25% in 24 states.

With this petition, the case has ended even before it started.

On what ground would you say INEC should disqualify a candidate and not eligible to contest.

That INEC should disregard the vote of the 1st and 2nd respondent, and hence declare the 1st petitioner as the winner. Then what should Atiku that came 2nd with over 6.8m votes do?

I think some SANs need to think deeply before filing a petition because these are pre-election matters that is the responsibility of the party not the opposition.

Well, it would be interesting to see the outcome of the Tribunal but honestly I expected something solid from the Obi's legal team and not this joke.

Go and check Peter Obi manifesto in 2003. He printed it as calendar and I had it on my wall. Just point one single thing he said he would do that he did not do. Understand something Brother, 8yrs is enough to set thid country to the path of recovery instead of this galloping infinitesimal election-centered economic growth mirages from Tinubu and the APC. We have seen that it's not in their interest to put the country to path of recovery. Anambra is enjoying Governance today because of the Peter Obi foundation. Soludo campaigned with it. The foundation does not add finishings to the building instead it makes the building boast of lasting 500yrs and withstanding any attacks. Just to point it out, Peter is coming to put us to that path of recovery and trust me he won't hand the country back over to these emilokan crooners. He handed to Obiano and look at what he did, Obiano handed to Soludo and we hope he won't be a sellout. As far as Anambra is concerned, they have relatively been enjoying peace and witnessing a boom in her economy. I am from there so you can't tell me otherwise because we were there in the 90s and Odera era, so don't tell me Anambra from Lagos. if you Decentralize the seaport and move traffic to Onne Seaport Igbos will gravitate towards that. That is redistribution of wealth instead of all these congestion at Lagos seaports and making people like you feel that Governance or what have you and delivering dividends of democracy is actually too tough.
So liberate your mind from the mentality of emilokan and prepare yourself for jobs ahead. Even a mere announcement of Peter Obi as winner, mere investors from South Americans would want to invest in this country. But announce Tinubu and his gangs of emilokan s and witness the highest capital flight ever in the history of this Nation. Those who see tomorrow have spoken. Make of it what you wish.

This is the issue I have with most people supporting politicians. You mentioned he delivered on all his promises and he left APGA for PDP while still a governor. I remembered his PDP candidate contested against Obiano, so saying he handed over to Obiano of APGA is incorrect.

You claimed he delivered all the promises of elections, let me ask, if what you said here is true why couldn't he at least ensure his foundation is continuous. We learnt Ojukwu had to beg Igbo political helmsmen for Peter Obi to run a second term why didn't they want to vote him without Ojukwu's interfere if he had done well in the first tenure?.

You said Anambra is enjoying governance, the last time I checked, Anambra is one of the most unsecured state in the country due to the activities of UGM and IPOB. And your purported Messiah stays in Ikoyi Lagos, according to reports, not even any his children can be seen around. The recent Soludo's article claimed most roads he constructed are already dilapidated, meaning he did substandard road projects and you said he delivered on all electoral promises?

Even though, his speeches sounds as if he intends to serve which I doubt, but one thing is certain which I know is that he is interested in serving his interest which Soludo also pointed out in his article because we know how elections play out in Nigeria.

Like I tell people, if Peter Obi was to win, he needs a strong political alliance across the country. A popular Buhari couldn't win elections for 3 consecutive times before forming alliance with Tinubu and the same alliance is being sought by Tinubu in the North in the current expedition.

With an Atiku, Kwankwaso, Obi, Wike in 2019, PDP lost the election and now all these Key PDP stalwarts are pursuing interest in separate channels today and you think they are not making the journey easier for Tinubu.

Try and disconnect emotions from reality, though I am not convinced a Peter Obi can make a difference cause he was also part of PDP until May 2022 and we also saw he was antagonized while serving as a governor. But if truly he can perform as you all have claimed and he intends to actually win the presidency, I think he would need more than the current support as winning elections is different from running governance.

Well, the hard truth is that all what you have been hearing from any politician now are all fallacy and hoax. All they are saying now is to cajole people to win elections either good or bad and I can bet you once they emerge, they would shift post. So, you holding on to what Tinubu said in campaigns is like expecting a white elephant project. Learning from 2015 emotional promises and campaigns and where it led us to, I can say it categorically, they are all projecting and only the winner would understand what they are up against after winning elections. So winning elections and governance are 2 separate things.

Go and check in the history of Nigeria politics, how many presidents or head of states have been able to fulfill all their promises?

Honestly, I think this IMF should be deprecated as they are always harbinger of bad news. Oftentimes I see this their projections as mind games like fundamentals analysis to cause panic across the world to enrich some powerful countries and force the less advantaged into loans so that they can always be at their mercy.

I am not sure I have seen IMF said a year would be good for any underdeveloped or developing country. This is sickening and I think rather than sending panic across the world, why can’t they help the struggling nations on how to navigate the economy. Instead, they would always dangle loan at you so that you can be continuously indebted to them and they can now determine how your economy performs.
