Of course they deserve to be built and as u can see, it is being constructed.

The OP complained about a shoddy job and further stated that the drainage is being handled by local labourers.

It is this point the person u quoted tried to explain to the OP, the the road is an inner street that cannot bear heavy equipment.

Sincerely in Nigeria, majority of these kind of roads are abandoned by the govt. And the fact that Amosun is fixing this road shows he is a governor who serious about infrastructural devt.

chris81964:

No it is not. From what I read from your posting it has a very standard but small charger. Your 200 AH battery will require 13 hours @ 15A before it is fully charged.

What you want is an inverter that can take you through a 3 step charge process. Bulk Absorb and Float. Your batteries need to see about 29 V daily. This is done to help keep sulphation at a minimum and meet the daily usage parameters as set by the manufacturer.

The voltage range of 140-275 will panic me too. Would you want your flat screen or refrigerator seeing voltage that is that high? And you know the history of PHCN with bad transformers and fluctuating voltage.

Save the money and purchase the proper piece of equipment.

smiley smiley Alright sir. Thank you so much. So what is the price range in Naija for those premium brand inverters (1.5KVA)?

I have no personal experience with the inverters you mention. The Axpert by Voltronic is one that I have very good experiences with.
Inverters should not really care who the manufacturer of the battery is. Look for an inverter with a good charge algorithm. Minimum you want is a three stage adjustable charger. Adjustment for battery type.

Thank you once again. The algorithm part is too technical for me oh. How do I identify the charge algorithm?

This are the specs I copied from Prag's site on their 2KVA:

Thank you very much sir for your response. These ones seem a little above my budget. I have been reading about prag inverter and thinking of going for it in combination with FullRiver Batteries.

I know prag is not a premium brand, but can it safely deliver for me in that combination? I seem to like a lot of the features on its display and I was told its a brand I can safely combine with the FullRiver batteries. That other indian brands like Sukam, Kevin, Luminous does not work well with FullRiver batteries.

The installer I contacted wants to give me Kevin + Quanta batteries. He agrees that FullRiver batteries may be a better option to Quanta but stated he does not trust prag inverter, and further said it does not have smooth changeover to public supply when light is restored. How true is this pls? This is contrary to what some other installers and sales persons told me.

Everybody seem to be throwing advice to give advantage to their own products. I know you are well versed in this, I seriously need a neutral opinion. kindly advice.

I also read diverse opinions on nairaland, and a lot of people believe Prag newest additions have been improved on. Abeg help

webfx:
We currently sell & install a range of inverter products and deep cycle batteries and accessories that are affordable  and reliable (come with no story guranty).
However during a lot of our sales engagement we've encountered a lot of negative impressions about this technology which in our view is really due to mis-information on the part of get rich quick marketers; mis-understanding the proper effective use of an inverter by the user; shody installation by the technician.
so i've started this thread to do the following:

-answer any question intending users may have
-help identify and if possible render free advice to solve problems current users may have with their inverters
-last to show case our current affordable offers ! grin

so feel free to join the thread if any of the above applies to you

SO WHAT IS AN INVERTER ABOUT?,

An inverter is basically a storage system for electricity. It stores up electrical charge in a battery system which the user can make use of any time during an outage from the Public Utility Grid. It can be compared to your water storage system at home. You pump water from your borehole/well into the storage tank once full the water from the storage tank supplies the house with water till the tank is empty which then requires another refill by using the waterpump again.

In the case of your inverter system, your batteries are the storage tank, while the inverter is your pump for storing the water and making use of it at the same time. Thats the simple analogy. so lets get a bit techy!

Some of the important metrics to note when choosing an inverter are the following:
1. Waveforms: Sine wave or Modified Sine Wave
2. Load Rating capacity: 1kva, 2kva e.t.c
3. DC Input Voltage: 12v, 24v 36v, 48v
4. Charging Current rating
5. Available circuit protection: Overvoltage, undervoltage, low battery disconnect, over-charge protection, wrong polarity protection e.t.c

i'll explain each of these starting tommorow. Stay tuned!

Politics / Re: Igbos And The Hausa-fulani. Why? by LasgidyPort: 3:22am On Dec 20, 2015
Lovesdaisied:
Igbos are accused of tribalism and bigotry in Nigerian politics while Hausa-Fulanis are home free for applying the same motives in their votes and alliances.

True.

The question is why?

Out of all the geo-political regions in Nigeria, the North arguably benefited the most from GEJ's administration. But Northerners were the most vocal in their disdain for him largely due to his ethnicity, a disdain echoed endlessly in the media-hounding insults he endured, and ultimately, his dismissal from the presidency this year.

I assert that his ethnicity was largely to blame as far as the North is concerned because, contrary to what many think, corruption in past administrations led by Northern leaders did not inspire as much rabid condemnation from Northerners.

We could also deduce that ethnicity played a role in the Northern hatred for Jonathan given the 2011 post-election violence in the North, where innocent youth corpers became victims of circumstance in a bloody show of anger and resentment.

Of course, their deaths are nothing more than a meaningless footnote in Nigeria's grim history. cry

If igbos are tribalistic in politics (although Jonathan NOT being Igbo is a confuzzling snag in this label) they are not worse than their Northernly neighbors, really.

So it begs the question of why Hausas are generally off the hook for employing tribal politics while Igbos are vociferously condemned, judged and penalized for doing the same thing.

As an aside, the only group that largely calls Northerners out for being tribalistic, if social media is any indication, are Igbos. And in an ironic twist Igbos are lashed out at and called tribalistic rabble rousers for daring to touch the sacred cow of the Nigerian prison state.

Given this double standard, is it REALLY out of reach to surmise that this contraption called Nigeria has a tribal hierarchy, where the North is a supreme race absolved of all sins? Where the south east is observed under a microscope by watchful eyes ready to snap at their every (misdirected) move?

Adding regionalism and parochial, almost racist attitudes pervasive in the country to this disconnect calls to question the viability of the Nigerian state.

Is all this heartache, insult, anger, divisiveness and misgiving worth it?

To forcibly sustain a country nobody REALLY likes anyway....

....is madness!

Just thinking.

In contrast to your assertions, Northerners still voted more for GEJ....

...than Easterners voted for Buhari.

In tribalism, both of u guys are two sides of a coin. Your write-up is just the case of the 'Kettle' calling the 'pot' black.

It's either you all have gone mad with hate or have lost your senses to bileful partisan politics.

The people in question are bonafide citizens of Rivers state who have got every prerogative to enjoy the perks that comes with the virtue of their citizenship including the right to be elected into public offices.
They're citizens and as such, are worthy to be where they're today.

They're designated ex militants today because of the failure of the Nigerian government.
In fact, they're as bonafide as every other alternatives you feel are on ground for any elective or whatever stake.

If your anger is that they were former militants, may I reiterate that you should channel your greviances to your failed government? If the gov was where it ought be, they wouldn't have been where they went and likely wouldn't be here today.
If they're opportunists, then, {no}thanks to the opportunities that were created by the unjust treatment of the goose.

It is u that actually sounds deranged. Instead of u to table ur points, u re being insultive to the OP. No wonder u are supporting those gangsters. You sound like one yourself.

And wait a minute, why do some of you always shout 'hate' at the mention of little criticism. It sounds so silly and cowardly.

For your information, it is the future that actions of today manifests. The OP is concerned about the future.

You are very correct, they are bonafide members of the state. But the foundation is being set for a wild wild Rivers.

We also have millions of other educated and rationale citizens of the state, that would have been a far better option than these guys.

Go and look at South American countries that made the mistake of elevating thugs and gangsters into government. The result was failure in governance with daily violence.

The result is a continued supremacy battle by rival groups and highly congested prisons. The result is daily deaths.

These guys are not states' men. They are touts and opportunists. They daily recruit thousands into their violent groups to deepen & entrench their power.

And the main challenge is not about their history as militants, it is about their modus operandi. They are selfish and empower only their own! People of similar violent mindset.

They are very violent and rule by violence. They are bullies, who does not believe in 'live n let live'.

They have the mindset of subjugating people in their area of influence.

Once you are not among, you are susceptible to be maltreated. And now when they get too powerful, the security agencies will always dance to their tune and will make them to get away with a lot of atrocities.

Before u know it now, these gangsters will be the ones setting the order of things for even the well educated in the society.

Before one knows it, they will become role models to youths, who'll believe violence and brigandage is a way of life to be successful.

Any society that wants to prosper always push forward their very best. Those who push forward their best thugs always regrets it in the future.

so the summary is that PDP might provide candidate from kano and vice from se

But if PDP packages themselves very well, the can get up to 60% in NC..don't 4get most NC states were PDP states up till last election, it was Buhari's Might nd APC strategy that made PDP lose in most of dis states!!! Benue, Kogi, Jos, Kwara, Nassarawa were all PDP states...so my broda don't be too sure... The Buhari factor nd APC strategies may not work well in 2019...coupled with the fact fulani herdsman are killing nd raping NC people....i hav met many NC people, the don't really like being called Hausa..!!

Your logic is flawed. When the NC states were PDP, PDP struggled to get votes from them in the presidential elections. So now that they are APC is when they'll get votes right??

How come u guys have not abandoned this other logic that NC will not vote hausa fulani because of the savagery of the herdsmen??

It is this same faulty premise u guys used to deceive Jonathan, that he'll surely win the NC, and alas, what happened, they voted for APC in both the presidential and state elections. PDP slightly won Taraba gubernatorial, and the case is still on sef, tribunal can still order rerun based on irregularities we all witnessed.

You said this fulani herdsmen crap before 2015 elections; it failed to turn out the way u predicted when the odds seems to favour u then sef, now tht the odds is kinda against u, u re still repeating the same faulty assumption.

And what makes u think PMB will not be able to restore security and sanity to the NC? That Jonathan was not able to check the activities of the herdsmen for 6yrs does not mean PMB also will not be able to do same.

Security as of now is the priority of PMB and i'm very sure after 2 yrs, he'd have succeeded in better protecting the NC minorities than GEJ was able to do and as such win their hearts further.

On the state side, eventhough APC is governing most of those states, PDP still has a good presence. The implication of this is that the governors will not be able to act with impunity as was obtained when PDP was ruling the states.

As such, they will have to rely on good governance "only" to be able to retain their seats and win a 2nd term. Most of the governors will want a 2nd term (Benue, Plateau, Adamawa) and will definitely perform to have it. This will further dent the chances of the PDP in those NC states.

Buhari will achieve 95% votes in the 19 northern states in 2019 and surely with a yoruba as VP Yorubas will still vote their son Osibanjo, the only option PDP has is to convince Tinubu and Top Yorubas to join PDP biko... except PDP brings a (northerner and yoruba) supported by Jagaban... in fact PDP should prepare for 2023

You are right. I'm of the opinion that they should just prepare for 2023. And the best way to prepare for 2023 is to field a very popular Igbo man as their presidential candidate in 2019 backed by a popular Northerner.

This paring will make Igbos eternally grateful to the PDP, and after APC completes PMB's term in 2023 (if tht happens), this pair will be a very formidable force to whoever APC is bringing.

They have benefited more than any other zone under pmb.Two out of every appointment made by pmb alwz comes from their? My broda...... Uzo di far!!!!!!!!

This is so on point. The PDP is so heartless. Even if they think the plausible way to win the elections in 2019 is to zone it to the North, do they have to announce it so early when a lot of their passionate supporters from the SE and SS are yet to recover from the 2015 defeat.

And even at that, why cant they zone the presidency to the SE and then get a popular PDP person from the North as the VP? I know if this happens, the whole of SE will try and register enmass and then come out to vote in heavy numbers. This pair may slightly lose to PMB (if he still contest), but it would have been a good investment, as the pair will be a strong contending force in the 2023 elections. Politics an be an investment atimes.

And this will force the APC to also zone their presidency to the SE in 2023 after PMB's 2nd term, peradventure he contests and win 2nd term.

Sincerely, I must say PDP has not been fair to the SE despite the massive support they get from this zone.

If a fresh Northerner wins the 2019 presidential election, he'll definitely want to do 2 terms, and politics is too complex to say at the end of that 2 terms, every other tribe will willingly give the SE the ticket. Politicians are not that nice. We have a lot of greedy NC & SS politicians that also has their eyes on the number 1 seat and will not give up easily. Saraki and Akpabio comes to mind.

Even if Buhari wins and rules till 2023,The APC would lose should it field Osinbanjo or anyother SWner against a Northern PDP candidate in 2023!! This is simply common sensemThe north are ver much united and do not care about any party as long as they are the presidential candiadate while we in the south keep fooling ourselves!!

Tinubu succeeded in ruining southern unity achieved for the first time in our nations history in 2011,This betrayal would haunt the south for years to come as the souhern regions would find it difficult to stand unified for any southern presidential candidate.

If the APC fields a SWner, the PDP would field a northerner with a VP from the SS/SE likewise if the PDP should field a SS/SE ,the APC would field a northerner with a SW VP.

Better brace up dear, the north would rule us for a very long time to come whether in APC or PDP.The so-called sophisticated yorubas jubilating and thinking they are politically savvy would soon understand what i mean if the APC are stupid enough to field Osinbanjo or anyother SWner against a northern PDP candiadate. The recent experience of Femi Gbajabiamilla in the speakership of the HOR contest should be a prelude of what is to come in future.

So unless the south overcomes her differences and unites,we would continue to play second fiddle to these northerners.

This seems to be your only post wt some reasonable elements. Although, it is still awashed with some observable fallacies.

Point 1, u guys should stop blaming Tinubu for everything, what u guys are just doing is hyping the man unnecessarily.

Point 2, u claimed Tinubu rubished the southern unity. This made me laugh. It is not on the eve of elections, that GEJ and his bunch of sycophants will start shouting southern unity.

If u want Southern unity, he should have started working on it from the first day he won the 2011 elections.

I even make bold to say that GEJ did not actually need a divisive "southern unity" to win that election.

Majority in the SW and NC voted against him based on his poor performance. And it is the critical votes from this 2 geopolitical zones that gave PMB victory.

Assuming GEJ performed wonderfully, and didn't engage in mudslinging the opposition, he would have won that election.

And pls stop overhyping Tinubu by mentioning his name everytime.

Apc......confused tenure

You are the confused one. When the APC did not support this same Saraki as senate president, a lot of you guys opposed to the APC were the ones that gave him support. Now that he has started messing up, you are pushing the blame to the APC. APC only supported him as a senator knowing his antecedents and capability. Any mistake he makes as a Senate President and not as a Senator should be borne by him and you his supporters and not the APC. Stop using cheap blackmail. This is the same way you'll go about blackmailing the APC that the North has both Senate President and Speaker of the house, whereas you guys played an active role in ensuring that happens. 1. During the elections by not electing any ranking APC member from the SE and SS and 2. By directly supporting these Northern guys when they defied the APC.
