@huxley
so your not proud to be nigerian and your not proud of your tribe but your proud of your achievements that is being a good friend, husband, employee etc

So imagine this scenario Nigeria are playing England in the World Cup Finals and e don reach knockout stage of the competition who win the match go make am to the semi finals. Who will you want to win Nigeria, England or since u didn't chose either nationality will u be neutral?
I think that would be more in the realm of Patriotism and loyalty.

Or is it just that most intelligent young nigerians don't have the time for this kind of cyber community?

Agreed, there is still no electricity and there are street urchins,

so every other thing must be put on hold until power problem is resolved and all urchins rehabilitated!

even if second-hand smoking is a serious health issue?

CultureRe: African Americans Are Tired Of Bet! by LASIEFAIRE(m): 9:00pm On Jul 09, 2008
Personally, I think the Name BET should be changed. It is potrayed to represent a particular race( the black race) when indeed the powerhouse, weight and decision makers are mostly white whos primary and only motive is to exploit to make money.
RomanceRe: Does A Broken Home Affect Future Romance? by LASIEFAIRE(m): 8:23pm On Jul 09, 2008
Coming from a broken home may or may not affect future romance.
Many factors play important roles in determining the outcome.
The biological make up, neurological make, psychological make up and the environmental factor.
A divorce or broken home can serve as a distal, contributory and sometimes sufficient factor.
Using Becks theory,
A negative experience such as A divorce
leads to the formulation of a dysfunctional belief system ( romance always ends up bad), ( this belief system most times lie in the unconscious state if not trigger)
Now as the child is growing up, he/she might go through a romantic breakup or witness a nasty romantic brake up
this serves as the stressor( stressful event) and this activates the dysfunctional belief system in the unconscious state.
the individual now becomes afraid or uncertain about romance,
this is just a simple case and other things place important roles like
If the divorce was peaceful and both parents acted like parents
or if the child lived or witnessed people who loved peacefully or watever. this could serve as a reinenforcement for the child that romance is not always bad.
Like I have stated earlier various factors play various roles. But in many cases, divorce tends to affect a child's life in one way or the other.

CultureRe: Are You Proud To Be Black, African, Nigerian, Cameroonian, Igbo? Well, Not Me! by LASIEFAIRE(m): 7:34pm On Jul 09, 2008
The whole Idea of " black and proud" emanates from black is beautiful, a cultural movement aimed at reiterating that the black person was equally as beautiful as the white in an era when racism and prejudice was evident and prevalent. With the world aiming for a raceless society, the whole "black and proud" notion serves as an hindrance to this goal because the underlining factor is the belief that the black race is superior to other races in certain aspects. Notable black philantropist, activist and other noteworthy characters support(ed) the propaganda of equality of all race not a aimless proclamation of the beauty of the black race.  Furthermore, in my own opinion  - I stand to be corrected, this is a sign of inferiority and lack of dignity. Rarely if ever will you find a white, asian person proclaiming " white and proud," or " Asian and loving it." Most people use this as a ploy to cover up certain failure in their lives. " Black and Proud," is nothing but self gratification and glorification with little or no meaningful gain.

Actually I have more to say . . . all your points are based on speculation, supposition, assumption and my favorite, haterication grin. Like it or not the Big-three will be back with force and prob even more fire in their so-called old bones.
Allen is a military kid, if anyone in the nba is disciplined n committed, its him
KG's heart n fire was there when he was losing in MN, do you know think it will fade now he's a winner?
As for Paul Pierce, hearing is in the ears of the hearer, abeg lef am, no be im fault his voice is horsed out cheesy

and by the rest you mean Rondo who wowed the nba with how mature he played? or Powe who singlehandedly defeated LA in game 2? or Perkins with the double doubles? etc . . .our "rest" is dismal ain't it? cool
I will just chip in a little " WATCH OUT FOR THE LAKERS" Bynum is coming back

Hero:
Not too long ago a crowed in Lagos claimed some women turned into women form after first being a cat. They surrounded her and accused her of being a witch and then attempted to beat her to death with sticks and bricks and all kinds of other objects. Then you had to famous case of that Amina women who was accused of having an affair with some guy, and was thus sentenced to death by STONEING after she had her baby.  angry SICK SHIT!! The guy, who most likely raped her, was let go scott free. How despicable.  sad This is the type of shit that pisses me off about much of Africa. The dumb backward shit that still goes on.
Its despicable and beyond words, I bet most people feel that way too.
The idea of discussing the issue is to express ones opposing view with civilization.
I think - you know too - that there was no need for the last statement.
CultureRe: I Can't Believe We Still Do This In Nigeria by LASIEFAIRE(m): 6:01pm On Jul 07, 2008
VERY disappointing. Strange - a closer look at this incident might reveal that no criminal act took place in the first place.
I remember one incident vividly, someone got the nerve to shout OLE OLE for no apparent reason,
next second a mob was gathered serious lynching this young man, if not for the rare timely of MOPOL the brother would be dead.
Capital Punishment of any kind- with a few exception- is unjust.
RomanceRe: Am I Being Overly-jealous? by LASIEFAIRE(m): 5:47pm On Jul 07, 2008
maybe you are overly jealous maybe your not.
one advice for you is consider what he is telling you as the truth, you shouldnt make him throw away his friendship with the ladies just cause he is in a relationship with you. Personally, i think your best option would be to develop some sort of relationship with the ladies, kick it together, go shopping, girl night out, them female things. They want him to visit them - fine - tag along, he should introduce you as more than a friend,
