Stan2330: How can one identify bad management before it starts reflecting on share price If you look well at the quarterly financial print, you will know a company that is not doing well. The financials of most of the brewery stocks had all the signs of underperformance before it started reflecting on the share price. |

On a serious note sha, that's a very good setup How do you reconcile TA with FA? I Just checked eternal last quarterly, q1 results and I was not comfortable with what I saw... Negative equity Negative retained earnings Loss after tax I am thinking q2 might also be bad.. Won't that have an effect on the TA set up? |

nosa2: I'm looking at FCMB Q1 2024 result and the published EPS is not making sense. The maths is not mathing. If one divides the profit by outstanding shares the number is approx. 1.45 as against the 5.8 they published.
Abeg can someone else cross check this?
I don't want to believe they will make such an error
Profit attributable to equity holders (N'000) 28,770,276
Weighted average number of ordinary shares in issue ('000) 19,802,710
EPS 5.81
These published numbers dont add up.
Please did they do a conference call? They probably annualized the earning. |

It is not a good thing when manufacturers are closing shops and all what a country enjoys is hot money which will become another problem in a short while when those investors are ready to repatriate their funds. BAT has gotten to sit up and work. |

crownprince2017: Even as small as I am, I can comfortably give 20% without loosing my sleep every year for that long in this Nigeria. If 20% is a big deal I shouldn't be in the stock market. Nobody that is earning money legitimately as an entrepreneur will choose fixed income over equity. especially, 20% for that long. You are definitely wrong on some of your assertions We have many people even in this forum who are earning money legitimately and are into fixed income. It is all about risk appetite and how individual decides to manage it. |

Locotrader: A stock with 1.2 Billion OS making a profit of #1.5B Naira in Q4 2023 and you called it illiquid stock. Which penny stock has this eps at the moment? The body language of this stock shows its going to be a leader of the insurance companies in the next 5 years and price will be heading to #10 with the continuation of positive financial results like this. Unless they are delisting . I rest my case. Just to balance your view, I think it will be better if you State that part of those profit might not be sustainable coming from disposal of business. |

essentialone: Two urgent remedy to Nigeria's economic downturn. May not be the best but needed urgently.
1. Announce the Pegging of the official rate of USD at N500
2. Announce the Pegging of Fuel pump price at N200
Free float does not work in a society where the larger percentage of the people, is driven by Greed. Fixed exchange rate does not work by fiat, it can only work when the government has a robust reserves to play with and can be easily used to defend the home currency. For now, our reserves is almost nil and so we don't have the dollar to defend the naira. I don't think we have a choice than floating the naira, thought it is very unfortunate that speculators have hijacked the whole process and make it messy. I don't envy tinubu and cardoso at this point. It is a tough one. |

It appears we love things to be sugarcoated.
The people that should not be bothered by what is happening are long term investors. If you are a short term investor, you need a good risk management. I think some of them bought high though they are claiming to have bought low. The way they jump out to attack anyone that mention the possibility of bear market is intriguing. |

The bull will continues till 2025 till when thr will be clear indication this government has failed. For now they are work in progress....I remain street credible Be calming down. I made that post in respect of people that may want to buy TB now. If you cannot get a guarantee 10% dividend yield in the stock market, don't you think it makes some sense for some to put their money somewhere they are sure of getting 20% yield. |

Streetinvestor2: If you get it now or at the end of maturity you mean give 23.4 because they reinvested for u.No vex pls explain Just look at it this way, If you are investing 1m in TB @ for example 20%, the 20% of 1m which is 200k will be left in your account if you choose the option of not reinvesting your interest. So what you effectively invest is 800k and the true yield will be 200k/800k multiply by 100 minus tax. |

BabsO2: This could create a big mess. Based on current economic and social condition of the country it could lead to steady continued devaluation, except economic and social conditions improve to make Nigeria attractive for both Nigerians and Foreigners. This policy on its own has a tendency to worsen things as people run towards perceived consistency. However, if security (a social condition) improves this policy could make some economic activities attractive, especially those that substitute imported goods or are involved in exports from Nigeria. One major problem with the current forex crisis is lack of clear guildlines on forex transactions which has led to all manner of onorthodox practices. A high percentage of diaspora remittance are not actually getting to the country. How could someone be in London or newyork and be exchanging pounds or dollars for naira with the dollar and pounds not getting to the country. |
