Too busy thinking about we could without wondering if we should.

It's not just govt, we sometimes face those issues in the private sector;the proof on concept is about deployment, but skirts over actual viability

So the project is a success, but the operation of the asset is a failure

You can easily tell when a typical Nigerian is at the helm of affairs in any establishment.

The idea of school uniform, how on earth does it impact excellent customer service. Attention and publicity OK but never customer service.

The customer is not interested in all these things, all the customer needs is a superlative wow service and experience whether at the ATM or inside the bank or even on the web.

Spend money and time to select quality personnel and train them.
Cut out the drama.

Southshore Women's and Children's Hospital is gradually building a reputation for itself as a specialist centre for treatment of gynaecological issues in women. The founder and owner of the medical centre is Dr. Olajuwon Christian Alabi , a qualified UK trained Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who performs non-invasive fibroid removal, at his clinic in Victoria Island, Lagos. His special interest is in resolving infertility issues, fibroid and performing minimal access surgery (Keyhole Surgery).

https://southshorewch.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/WhatsApp-Image-2017-05-15-at-3.28.29-300x219.jpeg

Dr 'Juwon Alabi completed his gynaecological training in the Manchester area of the United Kingdom, and worked as a consultant gynaecologist at the Liverpool Women's Hospital and North Manchester General Hospital, before relocating to Nigeria in 2009. On his return home, he worked as a visiting consultant to St. Nicholas Hospital, Lagos. He is currently an adviser to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) and Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu (OOUTH) on Minimally Invasive surgery. He is currently dedicated to his medical functions at South Shore Clinic.

His special interest is using new technology to manage women's health issues, to yield improved outcomes, quick recovery (and sometimes no external cuts during surgery) using techniques such as Laser and other modern technologies. Dr. Juwon Alabi's clinic strives to ensure that each patient is informed about the available treatment options, that are specific to their needs. It provides women with non-invasive and minimally invasive treatment options. As a culture, it continuously invests in advancing and improving its knowledge and skills; for the benefit of its patients.

The clinic was created to bridge a large gap in the Nigerian health sector, to provide women with the same advances procedures offered abroad (non-invasive and minimally invasive treatment options), and to substantially reduce the need to travel abroad to receive modern and affordable treatment that could easily be provided by well trained specialists that are properly equipped with modern technology and equipments here in Nigeria. https://thefertilechickonline.com/join-us-as-we-welcome-southshore-womens-clinic/

That's a great point. I assumed they were just going to subsidize the medicine. It's obvious this place would be more expensive than other hospital because it's specialist hospital. Then they had to run generators and pay foreign staff at premium rates. I'm sure they weren't making same wages anyway.

The fact is statistically the hospital could have been run worked well if they weren't idiotic in execution. Nigerian's spend a billion dollars on medical tourism with 50% going to 50 per cent of the patients travelling to Europe, Asia, America and other parts of the world. If we captured a 10% of that market share the hospital would be profitable. The fact is the didn't care anything about business case.
God bless you for this submission! undecided And they can still get things right if they tackle things properly using the right tools, resources and mindset. There was no reason why the authorities could not have connected the hospital to the power grid. How much does it cost to acquire feeder pillars, armoured cables, transformers etc., to hook up the hospital to the national grid, when you compare what has been spent building it? huh

for ur info the topic here is about the IGBO custom.
I only said that in some cultures and some properties that customs overule the will.

and I made reference to the Iji-Ogbe custom of the Benin people a subset of the Yoruba kingdom to back my claim.

so if u r poised on holding on to my earlier arguments which was that in Yoruba king, based on the place, and property that culture will overul a will..
then I will tell you that the place in the Yoruba kingdom is the Benin Area and the property in question is the Ijio-Ogbe...
so what's your argument exactly??
Guy, you are confusing Bini cultural practices, with Yoruba custom. sad Both are totally different. They might have had links in the past, but not anymore - they have evolved into two distinct cultures. Stop arguing blindly. undecided

if yes, reply if u r not willing then move ahead
Guy, take it easy. The Bini people do not have the same inheritance practices, as the Yoruba people. They are two totally different forms of tradition. Among the Bini/Edo people, the first son inherits everything, unlike among Yoruba people, where the property is shared equally among the children, or equally among the wives of the deceased and their offspring. Hello

I dint say we do not need a world-class hospital in Nigeria. I said we do not need that kind of " world class" hospital. Note the quotes.

We cannot have a world class hospital overnight and you would agree with me that world class doesn't necessarily mean size or design of the building or dumping expensive modern equipment in it without proper management or training that is why I mentioned research and suitability.

My emphasis was on its workability and not just an avenue for wastage.
Guy, I am not a fan of semantics. sad What exactly do you mean by 'that kind of "world class" hospital?' Is there a particular kind of world-class hospital, or does the word 'world-class,' have a different meaning? Nobody is talking about the size of the hospital, as I have never seen a world-class hospital located in a room-and-parlour structure, or within a bungalow. Different specialties exist in a world-class hospital, and the problem with this hospital is just the state govt's ineptitude. The hospital can work, if all those concerned decide to make it work! Simple. angry

Proper management and trained medical personnel can be obtained to run the hospital, if only govt decides to do things right. undecided It took 8 years to build that hospital, it was not done overnight, so why didn't they make adequate provision for the equipment and personnel during that time? The problem with the hospital can easily be fixed, if the state govt decides to tackle it squarely. undecided You do not need rocket scientists to restore that hospital to full functional status.
