kikake:Nah, bros' permit me to respectfully disagree with you on this score. Adichie is not one of those Igbo writers trying to use the name 'Nigeria', as a way to make money from their art. Adichie is a truly gifted and talented writer, who has earned fame and credibility through her inspirational works of fiction, and her talent. The fact that she hails from Nigeria, does not add anything substantial to her status or her fame. She earned both status and fame, solely through her writing. ![]() |
NOETHNICITY:Tell dem, o!! |
igbodefender:Don't mind those fake people trying to put fake words into her mouth. Adiche is very outspoken. if she supported Biafra, she would clearly assert it, without being ambivalent. She is not a pretender, of any sort. Didn't she take a categorical stand on feminism, when she wrote 'We should all be feminists?' |
7inches:You are the real coward here. Because so far, you have been unable to substantiate your allegations, with any proof. You think name-calling and insults, will make people think you are right? Thanks for showing your true colours. You want me to drop my facebook ID here? Why?? To achieve what? Can't you see what a hopeless clown you are? How many times have I asked you and your people to provide solid, incontrovertible proof to show that Laudate is Yoruba? Include the name of his town, village, local govt area and traditional ruler, while you are at it. Every correct answer gets 20 marks! Until you are able to do that, may it never be well with you, you lying ekwensu! ![]() |
cstr1000:Nobody is disputing Achebe's role in modern African literature. Obviously you did not watch or even listen to the entire interview in the Channels TV report, that you attached to your post. I did. Adichie spoke about how authentic Achebe's works were, and how different his writing style was, and how he inspired her and a generation of African writers. Not once, did she mention that he was her mentor. Not once was the word 'mentor', ever mentioned in that interview which lasted for 4.42 minutes. So what fake stories are you peddling here?? Kindly pick up a dictionary to find out the meaning of the word 'mentor,' and also the verb 'inspire.' Then try and compare the two, in order to understand the differences between them. ![]() |
odduduwa:You are daft. Inspiration is totally different from Mentorship. Pick up the dictionary, and spot the difference. And the tribal bigotry is oozing from your words, can't you see it? |
Okwyjesus:I agree! Achebe inspired Adichie, but did not mentor her. She has admitted countless times, that she drew inspiration from his works. But she did not receive any 'mentoring' from him, did she? ![]() |
7inches:Your stuvpidity is just so glaring. Busted.....who? ![]() |
OkpekeBeauty:Who told you she was mentored by Achebe? Must you exaggerate in order to make a point? She only met the man thrice, in her entire life for goodness sake! His works may have inspired her, but mentoring? I have met Chinua Achebe only three times. The first, at the National Arts Club in Manhattan, I joined the admiring circle around him. A gentle-faced man in a wheelchair. |
eezeribe:Ah, tank you, o! I think say na only me see her shape.... wey resemble mammy water own! |

In 1992 Morenike Okupe’s friend approached her to help look for a caterer to provide food for her brother’s wedding, as part of her support for the wedding. After a reasonable search, she didn’t find anyone suitable for the menu that had been discussed, and realized that this was an opportunity to start a business. Morenike gathered her mother’s pots, pans and started preparation for the wedding. The outcome was a success, and she soon started receiving orders for conferences and weddings. Today, Malas Foods celebrates 20 years anniversary of catering food in Nigeria, with 45 people in its employ, and an average of 200 catering services every month. “When you find the place called ‘purpose’, stay there. I had always been very brilliant and ambitious growing up as a kid, but I failed serially at everything I tried until I started Tenstrings in 2007. That moment when I realised that the Tenstrings idea was ‘purpose’, I’ve stuck to it for the past 10 years without looking back or sideways.I found this piece on another blog and just wanted to share it. I don't know the person who said it, but the words resonated with me. ![]() |

omoharry:Madam, it was not the sit-at-home order that was given that upset the Arewa youths. Please read up the genesis of the whole issue. It was the continuous vituperations, insults, vile ethnic slurs, campaign of hate & calumny etc., that Kanu used to denigrate them, and the way he went about urging his followers to kill any awusa, simply because he wanted to create enough trouble, in his bid to actualise Biafra. Those Arewa youths merely expressed their anger at his methods by urging him and his people to vacate the North. There are responsible ways of pressing home your demands. Even if you want to create your new republic, why must you demonise others? Kanu's irresponsible speech and methods, bred nothing but antagonism for his cause, from other ethnic groups. Nobody has a monopoly of hate. I am not an Arewa youth, so do not even go down that route. You should try and realise that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. That is what Kanu failed to realise. And that is what has caused the mess that led to the Kaduna declaration. ![]() Please separate the mayhem caused by the Fulani herdsmen from the declaration made by the Arewa youths. Or is it the Fulani herdsmen, that are the sole members of the Arewa Youths association? Everyone has roundly condemned their atrocities, and some state governors have even banned them from grazing within their state borders. There are so many different tribes in the North, that are different from the Fulani. And when that declaration was made, quite a number of prominent leaders from that region rose up to condemn it, unlike in Kanu's case, where leaders from his region and Nd'Igbo in the North, kept mute and quiet, when he was asking his followers to kill any awusa on Radio Biafra. You should tell Kanu to stop deploying hate speech that is capable of putting his followers in jeopardy, wherever they may be. Nd'Igbo in the north, are the ones being left to deal with the consequences of his hate speech, while he keeps gallivanting all over the Southeast, enjoying himself in his father's house. |
omoharry:Kanu should have thought of that before running amok with his hate speech. Did he think that when he was telling his followers to kill any awusa and labelling them as parasites, and other unprintable names, those people would applaud his antics? |
