kingzizzy: The people who fought for Biafra, the Biafran soldiers such as my father, they did not fight for Ojukwu. People like my father fought for their freedom and they were to prepared to die for it. Those men did not fight for Ojukwu. As for Ojukwu, only a stupid soldier will allow himself to be captured or killed for nothing in a hopeless situation. A soldier who survives today, survives to fight another day. Guy, those who went to the warfront did so on the orders of Ojukwu. They were the heroes who knew their lives could be taken on the battlefield, but they still went ahead, anyway. Ojukwu on the other hand was a coward, who rather than give his life to the cause chose to run away, when he could have faced the enemies in mortal combat at the end, like his soldiers did on the battlefield. |

EUROBOMBER: property saga is a discussion for another day but the truth is that only a foolsih General will allow himself to be captured or killed when there is room for escpae.
Ojukwu saw that he could escape to Abidjan and he used it. Nah!! Only a cowardly General escapes, abandoning his people to their fate. Effiong had more courage than Ojukwu. He could have been shot, after handing over the instruments of surrender. Afterall, he fought on the side of the rebels and he was part of the Biafran high command. porshuch: I remembered the day my father told me the story about Biafra, when he ended the story, I looked into his eyes and told him that the war hero was Philip Effiong Hehehe.... |

kingzizzy: I recommend that everyone should read Philip Effiongs "Biafra: My story". Philip Effiong was an admirable man. He stood by his boss through thick and thin. It should be noted that had Ojukwu stayed back at the end of the war, he would have been caught and killed for nothing but the Nigerian authorities had no beef with Philip Effiong. It should be noted that Philip Effiong joined the Nigerian Army in Enugu in 1945.
I'm happy that when he died, Biafrans went to Ibinio Obong to give him an unforgettable burial. Okay, so Ojukwu was afraid of death and that was why he ran away?? Why did Ojukwu abscond after sending so many to give their lives for the Biafran cause, on the battlefield?? EUROBOMBER: It is only a foolish General that will allow himself to be captured when there is room for escape. ojukwu did the right thing by escaping capture because he would have been humiliated and killed.
The rule for Generals is to escape capture if you can but where this is not possible, you either commit suicide or die taking your bullets on the chest and not your back. Taa! Ojukwu absconded, abandoned his people and ran away. When he returned, he got his father's properties back but did not even bother to put pressure on govt to enable his people who had lost their assets in old Rivers state under the abandoned property saga, get their own properties returned to them. |

oyb: I, and a lot of people I know who voted apc, are disappointed in ambode.
The guy inherited a working system and then he basically dismantled fasholas structures, then he went on some bizarre mission to sully fasholas reputation. Then he is taking pages from the Worst of PDP governors, (challenging bus drivers ala fayose), from gej (disjointed rejoinder to the economist scathing article ).
When the man goes to inspect anywhere, he comes off as just coming from a party or being on some sort of jamboree. The robbers have always been on the roads, but they are much more confident right now.
In the wake of the cash crunch, aregbesola seriously fell hand by holding onto the bailout funds and delaying payment of salaries. If I recall, he was demanding workers letters of employment or some such. Guy, you just spoke my mind. I have avoided commenting on PDP, APC, Tinubu etc., simply because I do not want to develop high blood pressure on a beautiful, sunny day. Ambode worked at close quarters with the previous governments in Lagos State. So he should have hit the ground running. For over 5 months after the elections were won, many things in Alausa almost came to a standstill because Ambode refused to form a cabinet, like Buhari. You would make enquiries on progress of works in certain areas, and you would be told to wait until a Commissioner is appointed. Even on-going construction works which were on track during Fashola's time were halted, because of lack of direction and uncertainty as to what path Ambode would follow. For months under Ambode, there was no motion and no movement. The Lagos HOMS project is a classic example. Houses were built with taxpayers money. Subscribers have paid in full for these apartments. All that is left is for govt to release allocations of the houses to those that have paid for them, and allow them to move in. What is so difficult about this?? Yet, till now everyone in Alausa is clueless about how to proceed. Some of the subscribers are complaining that they took commercial loans in some cases to be able to pay in full for those houses. No one is listening. And the worst of it all, is that there is no timeline on when the entire issue would be resolved. The Apapa gridlock caused by fuel tankers is another issue that grieves my heart. After a lot of talk and showmanship, Ambode gave instructions that the tankers should relocate from Apapa. It was done, temporarily. But guess what? The road tankers merely shifted their parking lots to Apapa-Oshodi Expressway/ Mile 2 Area to cause another wave of chaos. Amuwo-odofin-Festac-Orile became a difficult stressful area to navigate because of the traffic. Now, the trucks have shifted back to Apapa, and the whole area again looks as if it is under siege. It is only in Lagos, that I see huge road tankers and trucks parked on bridges designed to support rolling stock and not stationary weights. Tomorrow, we would complain that those bridges have become defective. What does it take to get tanker drivers and owners to obey traffic laws and government orders?? Ambode has been unable to find a solution to this simple puzzle. May God save us all. |

lalasticlala: Philip Effiong Turns 90 Today! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Effiong Obong (Major-General) Phillip Asuquo Effiong, Akangkang Ibiono Ibom may you continue to rest in peace, in the bosom of the Most High God. You were an uncommon soldier, a man of principle whose humanity was not in doubt. A man of courage, compassion and integrity who did the best he could, to end the carnage of the civil war, and save further lives from being lost at a time when it mattered most. You took a step many could not have taken - a step that some thought was unpopular, but necessary. Your courage will always be remembered. For this reason, many of us remain thankful, and will always be. We remember you with gratitude. We remember you with warmth. We remember you with love. You will always live on in our hearts. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there; I did not die

And check out who made made the quote, Thomas Sankara (1949-1987), he lived for just 38 years. How old are you now, Laudate? Your time is running out o. Oloshi! Anuofia!! Onye nzuzu! Is it not obvious that the number one enemy the Igbos have in Nigeria are the Yolobas? The Hausas hardly have time for this and they're not much on Nairaland. Even the ones here don't go about spewing rubbish about us, so you're definitely YOLOBA.

Atlantian: Guy, let's not argue about this stuff. Have you ever practically used these modules ? I have. Have you ever developed these modules ? Yes I have. Do you know how they work ? Yes I know. These are not stand-alone platform, I have repeatedly stated that it could be integrated to the existing OLBS and runs on same hardwares. It can not stress the resources. There are turnkey on-demand systems that can be integrated. I am about 5 of them I am presently using within the Treasury banking sphere, so please. RGTS platform is a kid's play compared to automated modules. Nigeria as a country does not even operate these modules, but I believe CBN knows they exist. When I am discussing, I am localized slowpoke from some third world. I am talking about project we develop in USA and which over 16,000 plus ODFI and RDFI are currently using and you are talking about some dumb RGTS. RGTS is the reason there is so much successfuly fraud in Nigeria banking sphere. I probably need to hold a seminar within the banking strata to educate you folks about transmissions of payments. I hate this arguments. Sanusi conived to commit the TSA fraud, if truth is what you are after. That is the truth, I am not interested in emotional and sentimental brou-haha. Guy, point out the exact shape and type of fraud that Sanusi used the TSA Account to commit, instead of wallowing in gibberish and conjecture!! A lot of people went to school, and are unlikely to just swallow gossip because it makes you feel good to recycle it. To whom brain is given, common sense is expected please. Have you even bothered to educate yourself on all the sharp practices that was happening in the banking sector before the advent of the TSA?? Banks would hold public funds without paying interest for 90 days or more, and then turn round to still lend govt the same money at 15% interest rate or more! A state like Kaduna discovered the existence of funds that it never knew it had, based on the TSA. And you are here talking about fraud that Sanusi perpetrated?? Provide incontrovertible proof instead of dwelling in the realm of falsehood!
