IlekeHD: Christianity........a nest of confusion.
Since when did a man of God have the power to determine who gets through the gate of heaven?
Actually the bible is quite unclear. The Bible is very clear. All one needs to do, is to read it with an open mind.... And the man of God is not using any power to determine who gets to heaven, he was just using the criteria set out in the Scriptures (which any individual must obey in order to make heaven), to arrive at a conclusion about the person's destination. |

OBAFEMIawolowo: My mom being a delta Igbo, I have to still make my Igbo maternal brothers understand some facts about them. I just have seven advice that will move Igbo nation forward wherever they want to be (either Biafra or Nigeria).
1. Stop competing and start cooperating
2. Drop your arrogance and start being friends with other parts of Nigeria.
3. Forget about ikwerre, opobo and ijaw people, they don't like you.
4. Every Igbo man should make alaigbo his first line of investment ( no one will developyour land for you)
5. Start respecting your host communities outside alaigbo, ezeigbo of akure was flogged for his arrogance.
6. Stop building mansions outside and start building industries in alaigbo.
7. Be your brother's keeper and respect other Nigerians.
The IsraeIi control american economy today because they are cooperative, america today cannot emanate laws that will go against the Israelis because they contribute to sponsor any emerging president.
MY LAST ADVICE FOR NDIGBO You may not succeed in Biafra if you haven't solve the issue of intra-ethnic segregation and start cooperating. Biafra will end up being a joke if an anambra man cannot see an IMO man as a brother or an ngwa man detests an Onitsha man.
Stop competing and start cooperating, Igbo will be very great with this. Na true word you talk, jare! Collect one chilled bottle from the barman over there! All the drinks are on me. |

I won't buy this bullshit layelaye. According to the Bible, there are certain conditions a person must fulfil, in order to enter heaven. If Pastor Adeboye saw she had fulfilled those tenets as laid out in the Scriptures, would he be so wrong as to say she was in heaven, if he was convinced she had met the scriptural qualifications to gain access into that realm?? Even Jesus Christ told one of the thieves that was crucified along with him: "Today, thou shalt be with me in Paradise." Would you say He had no right to do so? I do not want to start quoting scriptures, as this thread is not a platform for such things. But please be rest assured that the Bible is clear on what an individual needs to do, to enter heaven. If any individual meets the criteria, what would hinder him from gaining entry into the place?? |

zimoni: Well, I'm a christian sha.
Yet, Adeboye got it wrong. I'm beginning to hate the PastorPreneur. Why the hate?? There are certain things that parishioners discuss with their pastors or vicars, in confidence. To repeat it, would create a breach of trust and confidentiality, especially when the other party has not given permission for disclosure. It is a lot like 'doctor-patient' confidentiality. In christian circles, it is easy to deduce what kind of conversation Pastor Adeboye probably had with the late Mama HID Awolowo. She wanted to become 'born-again', or needed an assurance of God's salvation, in order to be able to cross through the portals of eternity, with peace of mind. She must have felt the end was near, and wanted to prepare her mind, for the great beyond. He must have led her in prayers and confession of sins, so that she could feel some reassurance about her relationship with God. Well, these are just my own thoughts. The relationship between man and God is an intensely personal one. It cannot be lived through others. However, a spiritual leader can help guide a person along the right spiritual path according to the dictates of their religion. |

Francis5: Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg and here in Africa, Botswana, are all landlocked. In the next 100 years, Nigeria will not be like Botswana. Nigeria of today has access to the sea, but remains one of the poorest countries in the world. You are an ignorant ass As for Switzerland, I am not sure where you got your info that the nation is landlocked, o! It sits on the bank of a very large River called the Rhine which connects it directly to the sea, and it has 3 ports on the bank of the Rhine. All three parts of the Port of Switzerland – Kleinhüningen, Birsfelden and Muttenz-Au – are well connected to the European road and rail networks, and offer optimal conditions for the establishment of reliable and efficient supply chains.
KLEINHÜNINGEN
On the right bank of the Rhine, Kleinhüningen is composed of docks I and II and a turning basin. Kleinhüningen has three container terminals, whose development is still growing. Kleinhüningen also serves as platform for the transshipment and storage of dry bulk goods such as steel, aluminium and other metals, as well as for liquid fuels.
BIRSFELDEN
Birsfelder is on the left bank of the Rhine and is specialized in the handling and storage of steel and other metals while being connected to production sites. In addition, this part of the port is also used to transship other dry goods, containers and petroleum products.
MUTTENZ-AU
Located on the left bank, Muttenz-Au is the area where particular liquid fuels are transshipped and stored. Moreover, this part of the port is used for edible oil, fertilizer, clay, grain and other dry goods. It is specialized in the handling of heavy freight.
The Swiss Rhine ports are a major asset for the country and the region. The Rhine connects Switzerland to the sea.
Waterways are not only an economic asset for companies, but also for individuals. In Europe, there are indeed some 500 million tons conveyed through waterways, with a traffic volume of 100 billion tonne-kilometers. http://www.citizenports.eu/partners/port-of-switzerland/ |

Nigeria of today has access to the sea, but remains one of the poorest countries in the world. You are an ignorant ass Please remove Botswana from that list. Do you know how many investment opportunities Botswana has lost, due to its lack of access to the sea?? Despite its' better-than-average state of infrastructure, a number of foreign investors have had to bypass Botswana to relocate their businesses to its neighbours - South Africa and Namibia. Some years back, a Korean automaker wanted to set up an assembly plant/sales outlet in Gaborone. They later rescinded on their decision, and took their plant to South Africa due to the lack of a seaport in that city. The road leading from Windhoek in Namibia to Lobatse in Botswana, is always lined with large heavy-duty haulage trucks transferring goods from Namibia (which has a viable seaport) to Botswana. If you get caught in the traffic on that road, you will hate yourself. The nearest ports to Botswana are Walvis Bay in Namibia and Durban port in South Africa, which is roughly over 700 kilometres away. Today, Botswana has realised how badly it has been hurt by lack of access to the sea, so it is now partnering with Namibia to invest in a railway line that will run straight from a town in Botswana to Walvis Bay Seaport in Namibia, so that at least it can have some sort of direct access to the seaport. It has also constructed a dry port at its own cost within Walvis Bay, on land that is owned by the port authorities of Namibia. Botswana, Namibia sign bilateral agreement
The Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, Mr Kitso Mokaila says the signing of a bilateral agreement between Botswana and Namibia, for construction of the Trans-Kalahari railway line will ensure realisation of SADC's vision of regional integration.
Speaking at the signing of the bilateral agreement on Wednesday, March 12 Mr Mokaila said the project would not only link the two countries but will also benefit other landlocked countries in the SADC region and Africa as a whole. The railway line will be constructed from Mmamabula in Botswana to the seaport of Walvis Bay in Namibia and will include the development of a coal terminal and associated loading facilities at Walvis Bay.
“Construction of the Trans-Kalahari railway line will also open an alternative trade route for SADC countries and add to the already congested trade points to the international market. Coal is one of the cheapest sources of energy and will continue to be of great importance to daily life activities in many years to come,” he said.
He added that the Trans–Kalahari railway line was a key infrastructural development to the economy of Botswana as it would not only open a trade route for the coal mined in Botswana but will also promote foreign direct investment and ultimately contribute to economic diversification.
Minister Mokaila said Botswana was rich in coal deposits exceeding 200 million tones and the situation called for a potable market to be identified for the coal that will be mined at Mmamabula. He added that countries such as China and India were potential destination for the product as the use of coal was still in high demand in those countries.
He called for the two countries to demonstrate commitment to the project and mobilize the private sector to also participate. Though negotiations were lengthy and laborious, Mr Mokaila said the signing of the bilateral agreement is the beginning of a long and sustainable journey with economic value.
“This project is not aimed at producing short lived rewards, but is rather focused on long term sustainability and creating a conducive environment for investment in the two countries and the SADC region as a whole,” said Mr Mokaila.
However, Mr Mokaila warned that great hurdles lie ahead as the project will be completed at immense cost. He thanked Namibia and Botswana for the personal commitment showed by the Heads of States of the two nations, being President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama of the Republic of Botswana and President Hifikepunye Pohamba of the Republic of Namibia.http://www.dailynews.gov.bw/news-details.php?nid=9896 Botswana Dry Port to Become Operational This Week | June 30, 2014 |
The Botswana dry port in Walvis Bay is expected to be operational this week, Botswana Railways’ Commercial Manager Mthulusi Lotshe said last week. The dry port will cost N$60 million.
The Botswana dry port is constructed on land owned by NamPort. The facility would be used exclusively by Botswana Railways for handling both containerised and non-containerised cargoes for import and export to, or originating from this eastern neighbouring country.
Lotshe made the announcement during the Trans Kalahari Corridor (TKC) information session hosted by the Trans-Kalahari Corridor secretariat in Windhoek.
He said the objective of the dry port is to consolidate maritime goods into inter modal and long distance transport flows.
“The other objectives of the dry port include improving cargo processing through coordinated operations; facilitating collection and distribution of local, regional and international transport; and integrating Botswana and the Southern African Development Community region with the Walvis Bay port,” Lotshe said. http://mpoverello.com/tag/walvis-bay/ |

Zimoni , I nor go ask you, you & the sabo crew already don share boundary. The Hausa and the Fulani group are a pretty interesting lot. I am not sure if it is still possible to have pure Hausa indigenes, as there has been a lot of acculturation and inter-marriage in the North. There are so many different Northern ethnic groups that speak fluent Hausa (e.g. Kanuri, Sayyawa, Bachama, Fulani etc.) I am not familiar with Yobe or Adamawa. But I have spent some time in Kaduna, Kano, Niger & Kebbi states. On one hand, you have the rich, well-educated folks who form the bulk of the upper class. Many of them have 2nd and 3rd degrees from Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Egyptian and Middle East universities. You would be amazed to see their hijab-wearing women have had the best kind of education from the poshest schools around. Religion is a strong factor, and even though there are a few Fulani Christians, most Fulbe believe that being a true Fulani goes hand in hand, with being a devoted Muslim. Many of them speak fluent Hausa....come to think of it, I have never met a Fulani person who could not speak Hausa, even though I have met a number of Fulani that cannot speak their indigenous language. Respect for authority is entrenched, and the monarchy in various communities, are revered. The wealthy families live in opulence, but there is also a large educated middle-class, who are fairly comfortable and content with their earnings. At the other end of the spectrum, are the really poor uneducated citizens who live from hand-to-mouth, on a daily basis. They have benefactors, and so they gather each day in front of the houses of their benefactors in order to receive a daily stipend, or a daily handout for a meal. They are the ones that can easily be used as tools by the rich. Due to their lack of education, they can easily be brainwashed. Among this lot, you will find the almajiris and the talakawas. Again, religion plays a decisive role within this group. There are also animists that practise the traditional religions, but I have only met just a few. The politicians and extremist preachers often find ready tools, among these poor chaps. What am I saying?? You have Hausa, Fulani, Kanuri etc artisans and professionals, just like you have among the different tribes, down south. They are just as widely diverse as the southerners when it comes to their daily lives. Ah, I am not sure I am making a lot of sense here, because some of these things are just so hard to describe. And yes....a lot of them are hooked to their radio, and also TV sets. They love Kannywood just as much as they enjoy watching Nollywood movies. Ask their women! |

baby124: Oshodi's are descendants of the Nupe warrior prince. They are not bini Hello, the name Oshodi in Yoruba, is the same as the family name Oshodin in Benin. I do not know if they are related, but it started out as a chieftaincy title in the old days. The current Oshodin of Benin is Chief Dan Ize-Iyamu. Benin… A City battling with Modernity | The Nation Newspapers |
Benin City, the capital of the old Benin Kingdom and present day Edo State, is an ancient city struggling with modernity. Relics of its past glory are struggling for prominence with modernity. Mud houses are being demolished for erection of high-rise buildings and lock-up stores, reports Osagie Otabor.
It is a common practice in Benin, the Edo State capital, for the front of buildings in commercial areas to be turned into stores . Also affected are some palaces that are supposed to be historical monuments and a reminder of how lords of Benin kingdom ruled over their households.
Palaces visited are those of Ogiamien, Oshodin, Isekhere, Oliha, Ero and Obaseki. The architectural design of these palaces, its pillars, doors, walls showed the palaces were fortified against external attacks.
Located along Sokponba Road in Benin City is the palace of late Chief Izevbokun Oshodin. It is opposite the palace of Chief Nosakhare Isekhure, the Isekhure of Benin kingdom. The palace of late Oshodin lies in an expansive land. It was a palace that was once a pride to live in and it housed many.
A walk into the palace would tell a story of how late Oshodin lord it over his household. There is a courtyard where the family ancestral shrine is located and meetings are held. Its walls are meters-thick and fortified against any attack. http://thenationonlineng.net/benin-city-battling-modernity/ The former VC of university of Benin is Prof. Osayuki Godwin Oshodin. So members of that family bear the name as a surname, even though it started out as a chieftaincy title. Like I said earlier, I cannot tell if the Oshodi family in Yorubaland is related to the Oshodin of Benin. There was a lot of interaction between Benin and Lagos in the old pre-colonial days, and nobody knows if one of the sons of the late Chief Oshodi Tapa ended up moving to Benin to settle there. But it would be interesting to explore this link. |
