mej67:
3. But, the Youruba hatched a different plot and made a volte-face and united with the north. Aim -to crush the Igbos. Reason -competition and envy as I explain below:

4. It is on record that the white man (civilisation) came through Lagos colony which existed before 1900 and was, in 1906 merged with remaining southern territories under the British, and the territory was officially renamed the Colony and Protectorate of Southern Nigeria. In 1914, the Southern Nigeria was joined with Northern Nigeria Protectorate to form the single colony of Nigeria. But as time progressed, under pure, clean and fair competition, the Igbos had shot ahead of the Yorubas and all other tribes in Nigeria to be leading in the military, trade and commerce, civil service, transport and real estate. Igbos were the most educated and most widely travelled, existing in all parts of the country at the door steps of Nigerian independence in 1960. This is a long established fact.

5. The reason the Yoruba betrayed the cause and joined the Hausa/Fulani to crush Igbo in 1966, was a way, in their mind, to crush the competition and their envy of the tribe of Igbo.!
LWKMD!! RFLMAO!! cheesy Envy, kwa??! In what specific way were they envious of your people and how was it expressed, prior to the civil war? Don't forget that your people relocated from the North back to the East as a result of the pogrom in the North. From my research, the Igbo and Yoruba had access to education and both groups had high quality professionals at the helm of affairs in almost every industry, in the sixties!

You this guy Mej67, you are too funny for words. grin But seriously, I must commend Yoruba people. There is some kind of secret formula that you Yoruba guys have used on other tribes, that makes them talk and hyperventilate about your ethnic group without ceasing. It is as if their daily routine is not complete, without mentioning your tribe.

Please whatever that secret charm is, you need to bottle it and sell it in the open market...you guys will make a lot of money! shocked grin

6. And they succeeded...... The Igbos best brains and youths were mercilessly and brutally crushed in the 30month Biafran war. While the Hausa/Fulani led the brutal edge of the onslaught and genocide, their Yoruba allies provided the brain, the policies and tactical support for complete subjugation of Igbos. These include horrid programmes like economic blockade that led to hunger and malnutrition, the popular 20pounds and the abandoned property policy. Many children, that should have been the brains of today, wasted under hunger and kwashioko. The surviving Igbo males were made to be grateful for not being completely annihilated as proposed actually, and started life all over again with only 20pounds a head.
Guy, you need to go back and re-learn your history, o! Ojukwu declared secession. And he refused to rescind his decision despite appeals from different quarters at that time, and despite the initiation of police action by the federal side.

Secondly, the Igbo themselves asked Ojukwu for arms that they were prepared to fight their enemies. So like someone said on another forum: "why blame others for a war that you went into, with both eyes open?" When war happens, people die. It is a sad reality and a highly regrettable one. May the souls of the departed on both sides, rest in peace. Another thing was that your leaders did not sit down properly, to count the cost of going to war. If they had done that, maybe the story would have been different. If they had accepted the offer of a land corridor through which food could be sent to the South-East during the war, maybe more folks would have survived.

As for the abandoned property issue, it happened in Rivers state. Please talk to your kith and kin in those areas, as well as other SS folks who have vowed to be part of your 'Biafr.a project, to return your abandoned properties.

11. Above is the reason for the ferocious attack on the new rising wave of Biafran agitation. Guess who attacks is the most -Yorubas. They won't attach Niger Delta struggle, they won't ever comment on the killings in the middle belt. They are obsessed with Biafra and IPOB.

12. Many of them (Yorubas) actually know that their alliance with Hausa/Fulani is not working. Today, Nigeria is stagnant as a result. But they are divided. Many are practically ashamed to admit it. Many are very bitter that the Igbos survived. But a few are beginning to wake up to stark reality -IT IS NOT WORKING!!!!!!!

Read Fani Kayode today

https://www.nairaland.com/2666822/goodbye-nigeria-welcome-oduduwa-republic
Guy, I cannot speak for the Yoruba, but I suspect the reason why they do not bother about the Niger-Delta struggle is because the Niger-Delta folks do not accuse the Yoruba of being responsible for their woes like the Igbo often do, neither do they resent them publicly or visit them with hate for things they are supposed to have done to them, or didn't do. sad And a number of Middle-Belt folks have declared publicly that they will visit their invaders with severe punishment and reprisal attacks, as long as such invaders continue intruding into their ancestral lands. Did they call for Yoruba support at any time? Why not allow the Middle-Belt to lament the lack of support from the South-West, for goodness sake?? Wetin come be your own?

As for their alliance with the North, why are you crying louder than the bereaved?? If their alliance works or fails, how is that your own headache? Let the Yorubas bear the brunt alone, if such ties fail or not. Or were you the one who brokered the alliance between the North and the Yorubas? Na wah, o! shocked

As for Fani-Kayode, am still waiting for the Yoruba to tell us publicly whether Fani-Kayode is now their new spokesman, or if he expresses their collective will or not. Until then, I will not take him seriously. sad

13. In the 2015 election, instead of a united south to face and debunk the born-to-rule and the new i-must-rule-or baboon-and monkey-will-be soaked-with-their-blood, the Yoruba once again broke ranks and united with Hausa/Fulani. The very aim of it was to get at Igbos and the South-South brothers who, for the first time, was beginin to regain their voice and identity.

14, But this time, it is different.

15. The cabinet being cleared has clearly shown that the Igbos are more than a blowing wind. Just see the harvest of the best of Igbos. It is now being touted in the media that Igbo Okechukwu Enelama from Abia State will head Finance.

16. Yorubas, please ponder the current situation. Igbos (Biafrans) are not angry with you. They simply want you to wisen up. Come back home, we are Southerners. Leave the North. Or, just leave us ans stay with them, abeg!!!!!!!
Na wah, o! shocked shocked Why do you chaps always seek Yoruba concurrence or support, whenever you embark on a project? Dem tie the two of una together? And then you chaps get offended when the Yoruba do not give their support to your quest, so you turn round to vilify them. Which ranks did they break?? Did they ever agree to close ranks with you before?? shocked

Abeg, for those of us who are not from the South-West...these your antics are hilarious! Why can't you just do what you want to do, without dragging other non-Igbo along in your wake? Okey Enelamah has been offered a position. Hallelujah! If he was not offered anything, you guys would still complain. Chai! undecided

Are they going to rely on output from Dangote's proposed refinery which is not anywhere near completion yet, to bridge the shortfall? Or are they going to be setting up modular refineries? Or are they going to partner with independent exploration companies to invest and build new refining capacity? shocked huh

My father, an ex Biafra Soldier, also has such a uniform. They usually meet a couple of times a year where they socialise and share war experiences. General Okonkwo or major Okonkwo as he was then known was one of the Biafran officers Banjo led as he made his way towards Lagos to capture Gowon. After Biafran forces overran the Midwest, Ojukwu declared the area "The Republic of the Mid-West" and Major Okonkwo was appointed as its Military Governor. Many people from what is now Edo and Delta States probably don't know it, but for a brief period, they were actually an independent nation. Politics › Re: The Curious Case Of The Young Generations – FEMI PEDRO by laudate:
hasyak:
The curious case of the young generations – FEMI PEDRO

..... We were not rich, and we did not have any noteworthy inheritance. Nobody did us any favours, and the older generation did not give us a pass or a nudge in the right direction. In fact, the military administrations at the time made it extremely difficult for us to participate optimally in business, governance and politics. We did not have social media, and there was no technology to aide our goals. We were simply big dreamers determined to make a difference. We were highly enlightened and career-oriented, so we were able to force our way through the door by working extremely hard.

So what exactly needs to change amongst young Nigerians today? First, young Nigerians have to humble themselves. You have to be willing to learn the ropes and hone your craft. ....

Working as Otunba Subomi Balogun’s executive assistant was an experience of a lifetime. He was (and still is) a well-organized and thorough individual. He strongly promoted excellence and perfection, and did not condone indolence, laziness or poor quality work. He was also an impeccable dresser, always elegantly attired in all-white traditional wear or perfectly tailored quality suits. I picked up these virtues and adopted his style of leadership and management in my future endeavors. ......

Secondly, you must know your worth. Do not settle for less, and do not allow yourselves to be used by selfish political interests. Challenge the status-quo. Challenge the establishment. The youth make up a sizeable portion of the Nigerian populace. By extension, they have the loudest voices and the biggest potential.

Alan Moore, a prominent British author opined that “People shouldn't be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people”. This is especially true with regards to young Nigerians. You are more powerful than you give yourselves credit for. ....

Thirdly, and crucially, young Nigerians have to eliminate distractions. Do not get carried away by the allure of good living, bling, fame and fortune. Stay on the straight-and-narrow path. Distractions are the proverbial pot-holes; they slow you down from reaching your destination and damage your wheels in the process. By all accounts, social media is obviously the biggest distraction. It is a powerful tool, but can also derail you from focusing on the bigger picture....

Finally, take advantage of opportunities, no matter how small or inconsequential they may be at the time. Expect no helping hands. And when these opportunities present themselves, grab what you can. During our cabinet meetings, my boss and mentor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu always quipped that “Power is never served a-la-carte”. This is indeed true in the context of where young Nigerians currently are, and where they need to be.

These are the sacrifices that the youth have to make today. I have a lot of faith in the youth of today, but young Nigerians need to start having
WORD!! I simply loved this post. cool I had to edit it, to bring out the salient points that struck a chord in me. The young people of those days, were able to do so much with so little. sad

40 of them came together from different backgrounds, worked together for 2 years to build a bank that has become synonymous with greatness, both within Nigeria and a few other African countries. If na today, those 40 would have scattered in disarray after just 2 weeks!

a). Servicing (which is normal);
b). Wheel alignment (which is explainable);
c). Buying equipment like jack, caution sign, fire extinguisher (which is standard);,
c). Fixing back shock absorbers ( which recently came up).

Guy, when next you have a relative on admission who is in pain, needs care and treatment in a public hospital, and a doctor decides to misbehave like a 'tin god,' then weigh your options, before you come back here and talk. undecided Do you know how difficult it is to get another doctor assigned to a patient in a public hospital, if you reject the services of one doctor?

The cases you saw on NTA were just a few out of the majority of cases reported every year. Most cases reported to MDCN hardly get treated on time. Others are just buried under red tape. A few are given publicity, after several months or years have passed. Sometimes it takes years to bring them to a logical conclusion. And getting hold of the relevant hospital records to fight your case, is a difficult and herculean task.

I did not report because I do not believe in fighting fruitless battles, that are unlikely to be won. I was more concerned about the patient getting the appropriate treatment.

Here is a story from another Nigerian about her experience in the hands of a doctor located in a private (not public) hospital, this time around.

Doren Hospital misdiagnosed an ailment that could have killed me! | by Ibilola Essien

I struggled with whether to share this story and how much of it, I should.

I share so that you can look out and ask questions. You have just One Body. It can fail because some trained doctor did not bother to do proper investigative tests...

One saturday in July, I woke up in pain. I was feverish. I was tired. I could not explain what I was truly feeling. All I knew was I did not feel right.

I attributed it to the recent stress at work and was determined to rest the whole day despite the fact that saturdays are (cleaning and cooking days). Yes oh.

So I rested the whole of saturday confident that sunday would be better and I would be up and ready for work by monday.

Sunday dawned and I was feeling much better. By evening however, the fever had returned and I was in all shades of pain. Pain on my back but largely on my abdomen.

My husband decided to take me to Doren Specialist Hospital (his HMO hospital in Ajah). We got there and the doctor said she thought it might be Urinary Tract Infection or Acute appendicitis. Because of the pain they immediately placed me on IV and by the next morning, I had taken like 10. Subsequently they called the Chief Surgeon to take a look at me. He ordered that I do a scan on the 1st floor of their hospital to confirm his theory that it was acute appendicitis. I did the scan followed it with blood and urine tests.

Already, I was irritated with the quality of service in the hospital. The nurses were inefficient when they drew blood, my IV would run out for at least 30 minutes before the nurse would change it, blood would stain the sheets till I begged they be removed. I felt like I was in hell.

On seeing the result of my 'scan' the chief surgeon was convinced that I had acute appendicitis. At this point after seeing the wish washy attitude, I decided to google 'appendicitis'. My findings led me to ask the doctors if there were other ailments that may mirror the symptoms of appendicitis. One of them told me he was the doctor and what he said was the issue, was the issue. I shut my mouth (abi, it is law I read, I didn't read medicine).

Then came tuesday, the day prescribed for surgery. I was so upset. No one had come to explain anything ( I mean they were about to invade my body, the least they could do was give me detailed information of the procedure, I had a right to know. Didn't I?)

After I had nagged and screamed the hospital down, they eventually sent the anaesthetist to come and give me a 'detailed script' of how the surgery would go down. (Please pay attention to the 'detailed script', it is intended to be sarcastic, just in case the meaning is lost on you)

I went in. I did the surgery. I was bedhooked for 5days in the hospital and another 5 days at home.

The experience left a metallic taste in my mouth. What kind of hospital was that?

I resumed work in two weeks looking hot like fire and began to live life like nothing happened.

September came ( two months later). The pain resumed. Kai. What kind of wahala was this? Sebi they took out the acute appendicitis? (Guess my enemies were not happy. lol)

My sensitive and vigilant mum called. My dad said I should go to 'Mecure'. I did (they said I needed a doctor's referral). My mum insisted that I go see Aunty Mabel to take me to the Advanced Videoscopic and Laparascopy Center. Everyone was fretting. What was going on?

I went to see the physician at this new prescribed hospital. He examined me and told me he thought it was either a Liver disease or a condition known as Endometriosis.

He ordered me to go to a Consultancy and Investigative Center to do thorough tests like the ultra sound, CT Scan & Liver function test.

At the investigative center, they push liquid through my rectum for minutes, pump mixed 'liguids' through my arm. The result comes out. It shows clearly that Doren Specialist Hospital cut out my appendix for nothing. http://ilsa-aida..com.ng/2013/03/doren-hospital-misdiagnosed-ailment.html
After this lady shared her story online, a number of people responded. She was asked to report the issue to the MDCN. But one respondent captured the issue so succinctly, and made everyone understand the pitfalls associated with such a step.

....As a law student many years ago, i remember taking the course LAW AND MEDICINE. I can recall that we had absolutely no Nigerian cases to refer to in that course, with the level of incompetence going on in our hospitals i was shocked.

I was so vexed then but now that am wiser, i have come to understand the peculiar nature of our country. How do you sue a doctor who was negligent in administering treatment in this "naija" i use "naija " to sum up the peculiar nature of the country. We cannot estimate the level of underground work that one is expected to do to successfully sue.

Doctors in Nigeria do not talk to patients, they do not explain procedures to you. They see you as troublesome when you start asking questions. You can't even read their writing nor get to understand the prescriptions. The second opinion you go in search of (another doctor) would even confuse you the more just to make money off you. The medical profession is run like a cabal- cult.

Doctors who know what they are doing can not speak out against others. Just like the case above-Dr Ojukwu is their junior colleague, will the said Dr. Ojukwu agree to testify against his senior colleagueshuh what will be his fate after the case? would they not frustrate him in his career (naija factor), How would one even gather evidence when the hospital would have destroyed everything tangible you can hold on to.

It is indeed a hard nut to crack in this country. Even when they are reported to the governing body
. http://ilsa-aida..com.ng/2013/03/doren-hospital-misdiagnosed-ailment.html
Those who want to report doctors to the MCDN need to be well prepared with facts, figures and accurate data. In a situation where you are worried about the health of your relative, would you be in a position to record all these things with accuracy? Would you not rather battle to get treatment for the person in pain, before thinking about reporting a doctor to some kind of council?

Oseri:
The car, a MB C240 2002 model was advertised here: https://www.nairaland.com/2537910/sold-regd-2002-c240-grab

We negotiated and reached an agreement of 730k, papers and driving it down to portharcourt inclusive.
I have never met the said chuck234 before but based on trust i transfered 630k to him to have the car delivered to ph and balance payment after inspection.
The said chucks only identified three minor faults with the vehicle which are:
1. low engine oil
2. low coolant
3. damaged engine sand protector

Prior to cash transfer, chucks promised to fix these three items prior to delivery.
After a week chucks claimed he is sick and can only send whatsapp message but can't receive a call...... It sounded weird to me. I had to pressured him to give the car to the driver, his own appointed driver to bring the car to PH.
It took the dirver another three days before the said driver(name with-held) told me he's bringing the car to PH. At about 3hrs, the said driver told me the ATF was leaking and that he has to park to fix it. He sent me pictures of where they are fixing the car......
To cut the long story short, the driver was never on the road. he was never bringing the car. He lied to make excuss to siphon money from me. I told the driver to call chucks to sort it out but he said chucks can talk because he is sick. I never realised it was a tactics to take the remaining 100k from me prior to delivery. The said driver began to complain that the car has the following problem
1. hard starting
2. both front window glass not working
3. Air cotrol module and MAF sensor not working(so he called it)

At this juncture, it downed on me that my cash is stuck. Chucks fone is off(saying the said chucks is at the point of death..). But i need my car. I had to release money to have the car fixed. I ended up spending 66k.
The driver comfirms the car is ok. so he drove the car to PH. i took delivery of the car around 8pm. Instantly, i noticed the brake was bad, and the power steering was bad too. On further inspection the next day, this are the problems with the car.

1. Power steering pump bad
2. Brake tubes from abs module, one caliper, brake fluid reservoir removed and pluged. Brake system destroyed
3. driver side mirror cannibalised. it doesn't work from the control. it was put in place with a super glue
4. The moon roof control work erratically
5. gearbox shifting very badly
6. rear axle vibrating. i'm suspecting bushings
7. no horn
8. driver airbag already deployed. replaced with a caton airbag case
9. diver's door interior handle broken. put in place with a super glue
10. the entire shocks bad

the list is endless.

As soon as the driver delievered the car, chucks came alive. A sent whatsapp messages to comfirm the delivery. i told all the problems the car has which he denied. I told him to refund my money which he refused. I later told him to give me 50k to assist me in the repair which refused as well.
I have no choice than to live with my loss but more importantly to inform the house of the new method of scammers

This is a lesson for all

Reported him to who? His boss who is probably just as arrogant as he is? Have you ever received treatment in a public hospital before? And have you ever reported a doctor to the Medical & Dental Council, before? What came out of it? Guy, abeg...the most important thing was to ensure that the patient received the right kind of treatment to boost his chances of survival.

Ask all those who reported doctors to the MDCN if their loved ones survived and what happened at the end of the day. undecided

yorubas have really suffered, even the lactating dahomey women were breastfeeding their children in between hunting yoruba men.
The whole of western yorubaland would have been ruled by Dahomey queens if the yorubas didn't cry out to the British, begging them to colonize them. grin

The fulanis began their conquest very early in northern yorubaland 1820s'. Dahomey women were unlucky to have started very late around the1860s, by then the British and french had already started colonial conquests. So British interest over rode Dahomey interest, saving the yoruba from an eternal Dahomey queenship. grin
Ogbuefi, that juju the Yoruba people cooked for you is really working well, o! shocked cheesy Eziokwu! Imagine! If you do not mention them in one day, your normal routine cannot be complete. Chai! And na so so another side dey produce stark illiterates with certificates, persins wey go school but exhibiting very poor intelligence, such as the likes of the former president GEJ (PhD without intelligence) and his wife PEJ (Diaris God O!) - many of them clear products of exam malpractice; yet they have the audacity to come to Nairaland and belittle others, who may have earned their qualifications (no matter how lowly) by merit.

Mumu, abeg go siddon; common comprehension you no sabi - if you have read the article carefully you would have had no cause to ridicule anyone but yourself, because a perfect explanation for the excellent exam results had already been provided, in order to preempt idiots like you . angry
Guy, why are you getting worked up?? shocked A simple observation was made, yet you could not provide empirical proof or facts to dispute it so you had to reach into the realm of insults to show us how shallow your mindset has become. No problem. sad

GEJ and PEJ are the only examples of Nigerian university products you could come up with?? Out of the thousands of graduates that have gone through all the 30-something odd public universities we have in this country? Haba!! Is it that you were too lazy to get better examples, or too shallow to see other top-notch academicians that have passed through our university system, and excelled?? huh

What explanation was given for their excellent exam results at Baze?? Was it the presence of overseas examiners, whose identities, academic pedigree and background, nobody knows or can vouch for? shocked shocked Or was it the use of biometrics to screen candidates? Do students use biometrics to answer questions in their answer sheets, during exams? Or do the overseas external examiners grade their scripts after the exams? Kindly let us know. If you want people to believe that Baze churns out excellent products, then you have to allow the public to scrutinise and investigate their claims! Chikena! Anyone can claim anything on a website. shocked shocked

Anyway, all this is too hard for you to understand. So I expect you to delve into the realm of insults again, to search for a response. undecided

1. Baze University uses OVERSEAS EXTERNAL EXAMINERS to ensure quality and integrity in their examinations, and to ensure the British standard which the school operates is maintained.

http://www.bazeuniversity.edu.ng/

2. To ensure examination integrity, the University employs Biometric verification in its exam halls.
Interesting! And what is the quality of those overseas external examiners?? And what universities were those overseas external examiners drawn from? What are their qualifications?

As for biometrics, it only prevents impersonation and probably, forgery. Biometrics is not used by students to answer exam questions during the examination, neither is it used by teachers for marking exam scripts, is it?? shocked

Education is never cheap and is subisidized/assisted worldwide. The UK which has one of the best educational systems in the world give their students loans to cover their tuition and upkeep because average schools charge about £5-6k (N1.5/2m) for their home students while international students pay approximately double the amount.

The cost of infrastructure, personnel etc. makes education naturally expensive. Don't let our low standards fool you.
So who is subsiding the tuition fees at Baze?? Do you know how much the school charges per annum?? How many civil servants can afford to send their kids there??

I was just thinking about the cost.
Nigeria has schools with good quality of education but the question is "can the ordinary citizen be able to afford studying in these schools?"
Even though these schools are aimed at improving the quality of education in the country, only a selected few get to benefit from it.

I think the best way to improve on the general quality of education of the country is for the government to invest in education by focusing on the public schools (where most of the citizens are) and improve the quality of the schools. That way, every citizen can have access to good education.
Bros, that has always been my argument with these schools. The fees are extremely high, and we live in a country where there is nothing like student loans. Grants and scholarships, are like a few miserly drops in an ocean of need! sad

Yet, the private universities keep getting more and more expensive with very little alternatives available for funding the education of the ordinary citizens who truly want to learn and acquire an education. May God save us all! shocked
