So, this right here, is the truth.
I am privy to some of these embassy confirmations due to the nature of my work.
Embassies/UKVI or Canadian authorities usually conduct verifications in the normal course of visa processing. they may dig further when something appears to be "off" about an application. Sometimes, they go as far as requesting to know the balances in the account, probably, because the visa officer believes the applicant has an hidden intention they cannot verify looking at the papers submitted. Then, they may request for more and if the bank declines to provide more information, they may issue the applicant a refusal and request him to go through the AR route to prove what they could not establish during their verification. Basically, pushing the burden of proof to the applicant.

Summary: Embassies verify statements. In some cases, they request for account balances. This is why some people will advise that you leave the money in the account until your visa is issued.

Is it also true that they verify the money in your account at the point of entry ?
