Realdeals: Some governors on Friday evening rejected the re-election of Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers as the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF.Bad losers. Upon all the money GEJ gave Akpabio to damage Amaechi's bid, he has failed! |
GEJ wanted Ameachi out. He put Akpabio to be PDP Gov Forum chairman to endorse Yuguda of Bauchi. The northern governors prevailed and endorsed a weaker Jang of Plateau to contest against Amaechi. Ameachi won by 19 votes to 16 votes of Jang. What does that tell you. GEJ has no ally in South West and the core North. His allies are only in the South South and South East. Trust me, it gives you a glimse at 2015 and where lies the strength of APC (the new opposition frontier). I am sure Aso Rock is in disarray now. My opinion is that when opposition unite, they can cause major havoc for the ruling party. Read below http://premiumtimesng.com/news/128589-despite-pdps-noise-amaechi-will-win-re-election-as-governors-forum-chairman-fayemi.html Despite PDP’s ‘noise’, Amaechi will win re-election as Governors’ Forum Chairman- Fayemi Oti Omatsone Published: April 8,2013 Governor Kayode Fayemi The two men were in Ekiti State together. The Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, gave an insight into the political machinations going on among the 36 state governors, when he declared on Saturday that the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, will be re-elected as chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF. Mr. Fayemi said this in Ikogosi-Ekiti on Saturday at a symposium organised The Future Awards with the theme “Project 2015: the character of our involvement.” Mr. Amaechi has become unpopular with the presidency and the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party over his stance on major national issues. The Rivers State Governor’s influence was said to have troubled the presidency into forming the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governors Forum, with a more malleable governor, Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom, as chairman. The first meeting of the PDP Governors Forum was, however, boycotted by some of the party’s governors including Mr. Amaechi; with some sending their deputies, and others abstaining completely. Why they don’t want me Mr. Amaechi, who was at the Ekiti program along with Mr. Fayemi, gave an insight into why the presidency is uncomfortable with him. He said the problem comes from his public stance against the corruption in the petrol subsidy payments and the use of money meant for all tiers of government to pay for subsidy. “Governors are not opposed to fuel subsidy, governors are just frustrated about the corruption in it,” he said. “They balloon the figures.” “It is one reason they (the presidency) don’t want me as governor’s chairman,” the Rivers Governor told the audience largely made up of youth from across Nigeria. He’ll remain in office PREMIUM TIMES had reported on plans to remove Mr. Amaechi as NGF chairman before the last meeting held earlier in the year. At the end of the meeting, the governors, after intense power play, agreed to retain Mr. Amaechi as chairman, until his tenure ends in May. The Rivers Governor is, however, eligible for a second term as governor; and his Ekiti counterpart, a member of the opposition Action Congress of Nigeria, said he will be re-elected. “Forget the noise you are hearing out there, when election (for Governors’ Forum Chairman) comes, you will see,” Mr. Fayemi said assuring that Mr. Amaechi will be re-elected. |

this is sweet. Goodluck should see the handwriting on the wall. 2015 will be tough for PDP. |
fkaz: 15.The details of this Proclamation will be transmitted to the National Assembly in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution. But in the meantime, let me make it clear that within the purview of this Proclamation, the Governors and other political office holders in the affected states will continue to discharge their constitutional responsibilities. The same thing on ma mind. I read thru the whole broadcast, and I could still see that my dear president is afraid to take decisions. If you want to implement state of emergency, implement to the fullest. Of what benefit is it to have the governors there when they really can do nothing. If they re taken out, it will be a warning to other governors to sit up. Afterall, they get security vote. |
truth4meal: When people are paid to reason they sideline their conscience and think in naira...some people are paid to be unreasonable.U are so on point. I am amazed at some comment here... |
ddippset: a spanish affair? Pls do not rope barca into this. Barca have receive a real nice beating from the centre guys in black. Allowing milan to score from a handed ball, allowing zlatan to play the psg game, allowing zlatan's goal when he was offside by a whole meter. But madrid? See nani's scandalous sending off? See last nite? Don't even bring barca in this for they ve been having a raw deal! With the refs and uefa.Leaving Barca out of it and concentrating on yesterday game, you will agree that the Ref was afraid of either Madrid or UEFA... ![]() |
Izrhiell: And Nani wuz red carded. HmmmmOn Saturday while my car was being washed, i made a statement that UEFA wants the champions league to be all Spanish affair (i mean spanish final). A Real Madrid fan yelled. I told him to wait and watch their game which was coming up (yday's match). I predicted there and then that some funny decisions will go in favour Madrid. I called him lastnyt after the game and he was blushing cos he realised that my prediction was right. That is why i dislike UEFA. Their permutation and conspiracy is too much and it damages the integrity of football. And the world almost pointed the gun at Nani of Man UTD even after the red card. What a shame! What annoys me is that these two clubs (Barca and Real Madrid) really do not need the assistance of a ref because they are good enof. Unfortunately, they are making it difficult for other clubs in other leagues to compete on 'level playing ground'. My desire is that one of the german clubs in the Champions League will do the damage to their gamble... |
Cristiano Ronaldo may have got a fright ahead of Real Madrid's Champions League quarter-final clash with Galatasaray after being stopped for a picture by his doppelganger. The Portuguese star was driving but stopped to pose for a snap with a young fan, who happened to be a dead ringer for the former Manchester United winger. The youngster had his idol's likeness down to a tee - complete with Real Madrid top, spiked and gelled hair and even a diamond earring like Ronaldo has been known to wear. my car is an A specs which automatically switches on and off, the full light. During the day however, the deem light is auto on which is common of most A specs vehicle. And when visibility is poor, it switches to full light. For instance, when i drive into the car pack at shopping malls, the full light immediately turns on, and as i drive out, the deem light returns. It was designed like that... |
I think I share your sentiment. The same thing I said to my colleagues @ wk this morning. Dont be surprise if the game between AC Milan and Barca shows the same sign of bias. Anyway, it is football. It makes it painful and competitive sometimes. Man UTD fans should take it easy and get on with it. |
But now it can be revealed just how fond the Insurance agent is of waving cards around after it emerged the 36-year-old has not refereed a single game without booking someone all year. He has shown an incredible 36 yellow cards and three reds in just eight club games since mid-January. Only on Saturday, in his last domestic game before travelling to Manchester, Cakir showed six yellow cards in a game between Akhisar Beledi and Elazigspor in Turkey. A week earlier, meanwhile, he booked five players and sent one off in Gaziantepspor’s win over Bursaspor. It also emerged last night that Cakir follows both Real Madrid and star player Cristiano Ronaldo on Twitter. I am so disappointed in some of the bigots here in Nairaland. When Lagos State Government shut down Mile 12 market, they didnt shout because the traders there are not Igbos or what? It is time for all of us to become real and objective in our critism. Have a blessed day. |
blink182: what are you saying, that these guys contort money you are holding in your hands?U know it is very easy to critcize pple if you ve never been a victim. Are u trying to say, we re lying? The purpose of this thread, I guess, is to educate you so that it doesn't happen to you. If you find it hard to believe, then take your dollars to Allen and get a roadside BDC guy to change it to naira. |
This is true. I have had my own bitter pill. It was right at the entrance of Tantalizers opposite Alade market on Allen Avenue in 2009. 20k suddenly disappeared from the money I counted in their presence and my driver. It was like a dream. I felt so stupid and used. The painful thing is that it didn't take too long before I discovered that the money was lighter the value I counted. As soon as I ran back to the location, they were gone. It is strange but real. |
Hope u will find a guy who can take all those rubbish. |
I am so unimpressed with that penalty call by the referee. That was a ball to hand. So funny that Man city got an undeserved point. |
1. Fashola 2. Oshiomole 3. Fayemi 4. Ameachi *QED |
These govt officials think we are fools. They always claim glory when they see little improvement in global GDP ranking. Conversely, when they see the Per Capital Income ranking (where we are ranking very low) they would blame our large population for their own ineptitude. They should stop talking about GDP. They should start talking about Per Capita Income which is a better reflection of the quality of life of the citizens. |
@Malawian, you have distinguished yourself as a jobless and clueless man. If you are short of ideas on what to post here, you should request to be delisted from this land so that Nairaland can quickly reduce by one, the number of pple who only occupy server space without anything to show for it. |

This is the reason I keep advising pple around me not to travel illegally to the UK because doing so will make you live a frustrated life. You cannot even get meaninful employment. Now these folks have turned into monsters against their children, nuincance to the UK, and a disgrace to Nigeria... |
Please it is important to verify info beefore posting it here, distracting and deceiving people. My thought is that I could tell from the picture that that tweet wasnt posted. It was only a composed but not sent. If you look closely, you would see that @iamdbang has broken lines under it. It is a sign that the tweet was in an editable format meaning that the tweet was composed but not posted before the picture was taken. Please be very critical before raising emotions here. Thanks! |
souleymon: The Need to Transfer Fund to YouI agree with you. I have tried many banks. It is amazing that Skye Bank's internet banking is the best I have seen and used. Unfortunately the bank no dey advertise their internet services like other banks do. It is fast, secured and reliable. I also have initiated transfer to my UK account from the internet banking platform of Skye Bank. I was shocked that I needed not go to the banking hall to transfer pounds from my dom account to UK. Sometimes, na this so called big banks dey fall person hand... |
lacasa: Very good.It is so foolish of you to react without verifying information. How can u be so sentimental because ur people (fulani) are involved? Go and research it. The order is not against fulanis but everyone in that territory. The idea is so that the innocent are not around when the military begins to comb those villages and hills. For God's sake, Over 100 innocent Nigerians were murdered last week. I never saw ur comment condeming the whole rubbish! You are such a bigot mahn! |
The presidency mobilised 3,000 soldiers to Edo for this election (for God's sake?). And the PDP candidate is an ex-military officer. So, what do u expect? I believe PDP is able to displace Oshiomhole but only through rigging. And trust me, nothing would happen if they rig. The only things that may happen if PDP wins: 1. Pple will take to the street. Army and Police will kill some of them; 2. Enquiry will be set up to investigate the violence (That's the end of the matter); 3. ACN will go to tribunal. (Don't forget that Ayo Salami has been dethroned); 4. So whoever is the president of Appeal Court will dance to PDP's tune; 5. And PDP is back in business. I have not seen a strong Nigerian youth that can resist the above. I really want to be quoted wrong! Cheers! |
Did you ever take this beverage?

I am of the opinion that we should demand the resignation of Farouk Lawan through a persistent online (facebook, twitter, nairaland, blackberry etc) campaign. Nigerians, we must begin to make demands on our elected leaders and tell them the way out when they have failed. I would have started a physical demonstration requesting his resignation but for the nature of my job. Trust me guyz, the melo-drama we are seeing daily on national tv would continue if he doesn't resign. As it is now, attention is off the report and has shifted to him. If he really thinks he acted in the best interest of Nigerians, he should be man enough to resign so that attention will return to the report and we can face Jonathan and watch his body language over the next few months towards the complete investigation and prosecution of the culprit in the subsidy saga. See, if we all don't cry out, Nigeria will be ruined right before our eyes. I call on young minds to use their BB, FB, twitter, etc to place a demand for the resignation of Farouk Lawan. |

how would a state governor discharge his constitutional responsibilities and you said you declared state of emergency in the state. The state governor still remain the chief security officer of the state.
