You are just confusing yourself thinking you are confusing the boy. The Old testament basically consists of the Torah and later some additions. It is only in Judaism you get an accurate definition of the old testament. The theological institution or the bible school you attended may give you the definition of old testament but that does not have any usefulness under this situation.

The main and the central part of the old testament is the Torah which is the teaching, direction, guidance and law.

You don't have any superior argument. You are only trying to use logic or motivational English to prove that tithe predates old testament because the events captured in Torah happened before Moses wrote the Torah.It becomes an ordinance when it was documented in Torah. Whether Abraham lived before old testament is of no consequence without old testament and the Ordinance of Tithe is in the Torah.

Look, I'm not a theologian nether I'm I a Bible scholar, so I don't delve into scriptural issues based on theological perspective.

A little I know about the scripture is through the help of the author, Holy Spirit. And argument over scriptural issues is not also my thing.

However you are dissecting the biblical epoch or names given to era, is none of my business. But my concern is the understanding of the truth that tithing preceded the old testament.

We have old testament likewise the new testament, so what do they mean. They simply mean old and new covenants. The old covenant was given to the Jews by God through Moses while the new covenant came through Jesus Christ.

When Abraham paid tithe there was no law and there was no guideline on how it should be paid. But one thing that stands out is, tithe just like praise and worship, are what God demands from His people, irrespective of the era or ages. The fact that the old covenant provided a guideline on how tithe should be paid does not mean that same guideline is applied to the new covenant.

Bottom line: When I started paying tithe, nobody forced me to do so. I had a conviction through personal teaching and direction of the Holy Spirit, that's why I can't stop paying it, even though every other person on earth stop.
The Bible says, as many that are led by the spirit of God are sons of God. The best conviction one can have is by asking the Almighty Father to teach or reveal to you the truth about the issue.

The truth in the word can never be established through argument but by revelation (understand) inspired by the creator himself.
