What I dont know though is if Manu Garba will like Simon Moses very much. Manu is not a fan of players hugging the ball. Manu prefers opponents be beaten by simple passing whereas Moses likes to beat players himself by committing them with his dummy movements and skipping past them. The dude is never afraid of a dribble. He is an excellent winger!

But seriously, as tempting as it is to get into this Success-Kelechi argument, I will not do it simply because it makes no sense to me in the long run. I dont want a situation where I will be watching the Flying Eagles and would not want Success to play well just so that it will prove I'm right that he is not as quality a player or a situation where another Flying Eagles player wins the MVP and I will not be completely happy because my prediction for Kelechi to be the stand-out player did not come to pass.

I love them all. I wish them well. Their success is a Nigerian success. That should be the spirit, folks.

can't watch either. First video is blank and second vid.....can't even see a play button.

Will try again tomorrow morning.

*modified*

Just watched this clip....even though it's really a compilation. Nothing there suggests he's better than KC. Most of his goals are from capitalising on the goalie's mistake, scramble balls. Nothing waoh! Nothing at all.

Iheanavho's Man Utd U21 dribble alone will rubbish this entire clip. Won't even mention games against Kansa City.

KC is technically far ahead of Success....what am I saying? Awoniyi's first goal against Congo at the AYC sef will rubbish this entire clip, even Bulbwa's winning goal at the finale is eons better.

I guess these are special cuz it's top flight.
LMAO...when I say this girl has a BAD MOUTH, y'all think I was kidding. Priceless comment!!! grin grin grin

Just re-watched Iheanacho's first goal against United. City fans were hyping it so I had to go see it and it really is a beautiful piece of work on slow motion.

Re-watch it guys. He's got some ghost moves. Even Messi can't touch that cheesy

When I first saw the goal, my mouth was left ajar. It is a goal of pure class. Messi scores that goal and the internet will be on fire. The close control, precise run, quick jump, positional awareness and cool placement even while being chased by a myriad of defenders screams TECHNICAL BRILLIANCE. It's football intelligence at its peak.

I watched his clip on you tube.
Guys this guy is almost one of our best player going to the tournament.
Welcome to the club. Talented lad. So much talents in the team. Brace up for a great tournament.

I checked through some predictons for the tournament and I was shocked that almost everyone outside Africa predicts Brazil to beat us hands.-down. While a Nigerian victory has an odd of close to 5, a Brazilian victory is barely 1.

Great! They will have no idea what had hit by the time it's 4am Nigerian time on June 1st.

The Brazilian team in this tournament is different from the qualifiers. There are different players and coach.

Do not underrate them.

Leecodeman
Another reason I think they wont do well. Who changes a coach barely three weeks to a competition except it's just to make up the numbers or for development? You'll see what will happen in the competition.

I tip Nigeria and Hungary to qualify from the group.

I notice that this Manu Garba team always makes the final with the team they open any major tournament with, at Caf u.17 championship in 2013 they open and end the tournament against Ivoire' coast(they lost the both matches), the same happened some months later at the U.17 fifa world cup, which they start and end with Mexico including a 6:1 thrashing. Again, Earlier this year at Caf u.20 championship they also start and end against Senegal. Will this tournament be the same? It look likely considering the capabilty and achievement of the two teams.. I JUST CAN'T WAIT
My opinion: Nice coincidences. It was Ghana, not Ivory Coast at the African U17 though.

But I think this Brazilian team is too weak to be in the finals. Following their qualification and preparations reveal that they are not a typical Brazilian team. No flair, no creativity in the final third, they don't even score alot of goals. They seem to be structured around not conceding goals. It's a description that best describes a Greek or the 1990s Italian National team, not the legendary Brazilian team. Even with the new coach, not much has changed.

It's good to start a competition well, but I won't place much importance to our victory against Brazil on June 1.

Call it overconfidence, but it is what it is.

I've not observed the Kelechi-Lampard comparison. Truthfully, I have not seen a player he plays like. He has a hybrid of different players. I have seen him shoot like Yaya Toure, I have seen him evade players like Henry, I have seen him create like Messi, I have seen him score Inzaghi kind of goals. And yes, he has a Balotelli-kind of arrogance, which is more like confidence to me.

I think he stands alone.

Waooo, I'm impressed. The execution of the first goal was pure class: the turn-around and what he did to that Man U no.4, the dribble and jump and the calmness in slotting that ball into the far right of the keeper. I think, this is one of the best goals I've seen him score.

Thanks for posting this video. I hope these boys replicate their forms in New Zealand.

I still believe the boys to watch in Nigeria line up are the trio of Mathew, Ifeanyi and idowu. These three can string complex and complicated passes in very limited space making their opponents chase shadows.
I think Sokari has changed the dynamics in the middle. Judging by what Manu Garba has been saying, Sokari's technique is top notch and he'd probably be the go-to person in the middle. He said Sokar is one of the three players he's tipping to make waves in New Zealand. I think Mathew, Sokari and Ifeanyi would be the ones running strings in the midfield.

TheGoodJoe:
What we need from these boys is for them to pay attention to their coaches and play strictly to instructions. Fear or confidence is not as important as them sticking to the plans of their coaches on the field of play. That is what will help them win the title. They are in good hands.
I have said many times that forget these players, the superstar(s) in this team is the coaching crew headed by Manu Garba. Isnt this the same country that Eguavoen, Keshi (many dont know that Keshi failed as an age-grade coach), John Obu and the likes have picked from to go to the age-grade tournaments? It takes tremendous efforts to scout players and achieve with them from the grassroots. I'm not just impressed with this, I'm impressed with his tactical awareness. he seems to know his own weaknesses even before outsiders find them out. What more can you ask for?

I hope he continues with this philosophy because it is the only one that can ensure that our age grade football produce stars that foreign clubs will fall all over for. Almost every member of this team is being offered a pre-tournament agreement. From Saviour to Bulbwa to Mustapha to Musa to Matthew to Sokari. Through this man, Nwakali, Iheanacho, Success, Ezeh, Alampasu have all gotten foreign clubs. Not just useless clubs. They have got top clubs. Iheanacho and Nwakali in Man City. Yahaya in Tothenham. Ndidi in Genk in Belgium. Success in Granada in the best league in the world, Ezeh with Porto, the Portoguese giants, Alampasu, a goalkeeper, in Estoril in portugese top flight. Even the great Enyeama had to first go to a Bnei Yehuda in the Israeli second division. When last did we see this happen to our boys? These are strides that haters will never see.

I just cant wait for the tournament to start

Manu promises to beat Brazil in World Cup

https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2015/05/Samm_3_March_1_580x473.jpg

Flying Eagles coach Manu Garba has promised his team will beat Brazil in their U20 World Cup clash in New Zealand.

The African champions have yet to beat the South Americans at this level with their best result achieved 10 years ago when they drew goalless on their way to reaching their second U20 World Cup final in Holland.

The Flying Eagles take on the Samba stars on June 1 in New Plymouth to kick start their 2015 campaign.

Manu said he will be going for broke against the five-time world champions.

“I respect all the teams who have qualified for this championship and that includes Brazil, who have been good at this level, but believe you me, Brazil is Brazil and Nigeria is Nigeria,” he began.

“Brazil have won the World Cup several times, but Nigeria have got silver twice and a bronze.

“At U17 level, we are rated No.1 in the world. And half of the team to New Zealand are from the last U17 team. We are a united team who have conquered the world at U17 level and we have now been joined by other players who are more technically balanced than some of them from the U17s. So, I believe we are ready to take on any team.

“But I also know that the first match in any tournament is the most important and so we will do all we can to pick up the maximum three points against Brazil, which will go a long way to motivate the team in subsequent matches.

He continued: “I could recall Mexico came to last U17 World Cup as defending champions and they had not lost a match for two years. But against a Nigerian side, who did not play a test game for a month, we defeated them 6-1.

“This is not to say we will be overconfident. We are confident in ourselves to beat Brazil in our opening game.”

This is what I'm talking about. This man knows what he's talking about. Negative soccer pundits just sit down in their one room self-contained writing reasons these boys will not win and the man is busy looking up the stats and watching video tapes of his opponents with a view to not only hitting them hard where they are weak but also making sure that our strengths are showcased.

A reliable source told me that Manu watched Gent's last match to see Simon, watched Granada's match to see if Success would play and has been following all Iheanacho's matches at Man City.

Each time this man speaks, you know he understands football and he's all out to carve a niche for himself.

Those of us that have been following Manu Garba know that the U-20 World Cup is not his major concern. This man has said that he will not rest until he coaches the Super Eagles to bring home the FIFA Senior World Cup.

Let haters continue to hate and give us all the reasons why this team will not succeed while we continue to encourage the boys that are destined for greatness.

Uhmm... Which Haruna do you speak of Sir? If it's Haruna Lukman then please note that you've made a faux pas. Haruna lukman featured at the 2009 fifa u20 world cup in Egypt. Mikel starred in 2005. Mikel was taken off in that game against Korea Republic(i.e. South Korea) and was replaced by a certain Kola Anubi... And what happened next? We gave up our lead and went on to lose 1-2. Boy!!! That result got me a little scared ahead of our next game against a Senderos- and Alexander Frei-inspired Switzerland. I was just in Jss3/SS 1 back then in 2005. I was having a great week at school academically only for that result to stain it. Never the less, Thank God we recovered and went on to stun the world but couldn't get the title no thanks to Messi. THAT'S ONE OF THE REASONS I'M BANKING ON THE LIKES OF AWONIYI THE INTELLECTUAL, IHEANACHO THE GENIUS, YAHAYA THE INIESTA, SUCCESS THE BEAST, IDOWU THE 4-LUNGED HORSE, MUSA MOHAMMED THE ROBOCOP, EZEH THE BABY-FACED ASSASIN AMONG OTHERS LED BY MANU GARBA THE WISE TASK MASTER AND NDUKA UGBADE THE SCIENCE OF FOOTBALL PROFESSOR TO DELIVER GOLD AGAINST ALL ODDS.
I know they will deliver... No hypes intended. They stand on the threshold of greater greatness...

There's no day I come to this thread through Google (yep... been doing this since last year before I joined Nairaland couple of mins ago) to read the latest Joseph1013 posts on The "Super" Flying Eagles that won't have a certain highly knowlegeable and intelligently funny female soccer pundit called 'Safari girl' declaring how much she adores this wonder of a player with high intellect called Taiwo Awoniyi. I hope you get to meet him some day... It's only befitting that he gets to meet face to face with "his greatest and most passionate fan" (even if you aren't at least I'm yet to see or hear of anyone with high regards for Awoniyi) :-)
I really must commend Joseph 1013 for this thread and the other ones focused on the Golden Eaglets and The Dream Team Eagles. Thumbs up Sir.
High Respects to The likes of Tbaba1234, Daninya11, TheGoodJoe(the mancity fan who defends keshi so much... Hahaha...), LeeCodeman, Linked among others. Your incisive analyses, funny or sometimes silly comments, facts digging, Word plays and brilliant deductions plus more keep me coming back for more. Respect Sirs! I'm actually an SL10 forumite and was kinda surprised but full of pride when a nairalander quoted me on this thread couple of days ago in response to 'flying eagles 2005 and flying eagles 2015: de ja vu?' I'm actually 'that' forumite who wrote this, "And one more thing... It isn't de ja vu..." The Nairalander (bless his heart) must have culled it from the SL10 thread that carried that piece and the comments of other esteemed SL10 Forumites. It's great to be a Nairalander officially.
Now for the last but the best... Safari Girl (apart frm Joseph 1013) is one brilliant individual that keeps bringing me to this thread. You just gotta give it to the lady... She's very knowledgeable, is witty with words and ideas, got an absolutely outstanding sense of humor and much more. Thank you Miss for making this thread one to behold... Thanks to all and Godbless.

Nice to have you here bro. I love visiting SL10. It's a great place and what I like most are the commenters. I was glad when I saw familiar commenters from the now defunct KON forum. I dont like commenting on sl10 though because they always ban anytime I put a link to youtube or any other useful website as regards sports. KON allowed us to put links on our comments back then and I still miss it. I resigned finally when I was trying to tell sl10 folks about this wonderful thread and sl10 deleted my comments.

Anyway, it's nice to have you here. I'm sure you'll love it here. Cheers bro.

NB: Kudos to joseph1013. He's to be appreciated because even when no one was reading his articles posted or commenting on his thread, he was always posting. If I remember correctly, he started this thread when Manu Garba was promoted to be the Flying Eagles Coach in November 2013, the same time Amunike was appointed Golden Eaglets coach. The hackers stormed nairaland and deleted all his contents but he was not discouraged. He simply kept on posting and updating the thread. Kudos bro.

This is an example of someone who is truly passionate about what he is doing. I look at @nff on social media and I'm ashamed. Late updates, obsolete contents and a generally not interesting platform for football fans to participate. I wont be wrong if I say that Joseph1013 is the kind of person they should employ to bring life to their image on the internet. He's been doing this without gratitude or payments for so long. He truly loves and is passionate about football. Well done, Sir!

This is why I think the NFF is very useless. How can you abandon the player so soon. How many weeks back? This is utterly irresponsible.

You will see that the whole secretariat will be empty when the tournament begins as they would have sponsored themselves to New Zealand, yet they cannot take care of one of the key players that made that possible.

So many i-d-i-o-t-s running this country.
