Just a mere thought of your mum or sibling should give you more than enough reason to live.

You can actually create your own website on bigiwebs.com. It's a new platform in Nigeria and it an extension of wordpress. Having familiar with WordPress is a plus and if you are newbie you can actually get your handwet as creating a website is currently free.

To concur with what others said, put your own pictures. Dress corporate and look successful. Use other pictures that you taken, may be in the office, vacation, training, while studying or delivering presentations and create a moving slide on the home page.

I don't advise people to copy online pictures, themes or plug-ins in their website. Somebody else may have used the same pictures.

Make them original.

Thank you for the feedback. smiley

But it beats the purpose of the site. Having a personal site with someone else's picture is like having a contact page with someone else's email address. Ogbeni change that thing.

I plan to get my own personal website soon. Still building my profile though
Thank you for the observation smiley. A professional portrait of me sits right below the header and the image was not intended to misinform the public. I will, however, replace the header picture to a different one that will not contain any controversial images.

Career / A Personal Website (is It Really Worth It) by leedigital: 6:37pm On Feb 22, 2019
So, I recently had enough motivation to complete my personal website which I had embarked on, a few months ago. I had initially abandoned it for some other projects which have recently been consuming most of my time. You can take a look at it here. After its completion, my curiosity got me wondering if this would really add much value to me or if a personal website is totally worth it at all.
Carrying out a little research to know more about personal websites, why it’s needed, and who needs it, I was able to understand more on personal branding generally. Without wasting any more time, I'd like to proceed to discuss some of the interesting things about having one.

1. Standing out from the crowd

With a consistent increment in the unemployment rate in Nigeria today, you will all agree with me that recruiters have definitely seen it all. Even after following every guideline out there on creating an amazing resume, more than a thousand others are doing even better and going extra length in your field. Small things like having a personal website including in your profile can make the much-needed difference that you need to get the attention of recruiters.

2. Freedom to explore your creativity

The maximum number of pages recommended for a good CV is 2. Include any more number of pages and you risk your CV being tossed into the trash. You are really limited in what you can show to the world and you only get to streamline it down to the normal boring necessary information that you need to include. With a personal website, you are only limited by your imagination. There is no need for you to sound professional, as you are always free to talk about yourself and your work the way you wish. Simply put, your personality will shine through your own corner of the internet!

3. Increasing your online visibility

Yes, you have a great LinkedIn profile, and your other social media presence are great, but it could be even better when you have your own personal website. It increases your chances of getting noticed on the web! A well optimized personal website exposes you to potential clients and recruiters.

4. Helping you to acquire new skills

I came across a number of articles where the writers claimed to have had their first encounter with web design via creating their own personal website. Yes, only a very few people will be willing to do this. In fact, according to a report from branded.me, more than 42% of people say they failed to create their own personal website because it is time-consuming. You can always hire capable hands to do that for you. However, that doesn’t mean you will not be acquiring some new skills! Management of a mini personal website is what everyone can handle, and you will be acquiring some new skills by doing just that. Now you can add to your resume that you can manage a website, with your own personal website as proof.

Bottom Line

In terms of your personal brand, you will agree with me that a personal website does more good to you with the only downside being the little cost in creating and managing one. You do not necessarily have to run a big business to own a website. Everyone, from students, job seekers, start-ups, and small businesses can make use of one. If you can afford one, please do get one right away.

Business / Creative Instagram Posts To Boost Your Business Page by leedigital: 3:06am On Feb 19, 2019
Being in charge of the management of LeeDigital’s Instagram account for a while, but only recently began to stand up to the challenge. It was one of two options for me, continue to drop one or two posts in a month on the page for the few inactive followers, or brush up the account and start making consistent quality posts.

However, my first challenge started with defining what these "quality posts" are expected to be. I wanted posts that will be captivating and at the same time engaging to the right audience. Yes, I had read up a few articles to understand the importance of getting the attention of the right audience and not just random followers. In order to identify these posts, I embarked on a research checking through some of the most notable pages that I have fallen in love with. Some pages are just so cool that I can’t but imagine hitting the “Follow” on going through their posts. Let me save those handles just for now wink.

After a few searches, I was able to come up with a few ideas that you might want to consider to spice up your Instagram page. Check them out below.

Behind the Scenes Photos

This comes first and in fact, every serious Instagram page should consider these types of posts. Start with creating photos and videos that share the visions, aspirations, and motivations that are behind your products. Also share the ways your employees interact, and how your product or services are being handled. There is this emotional attachment that comes with seeing how products or campaigns are being made. I believe this will definitely increase the chances of you turning a loyal follower to a buyer/client. I observed some of the highest engagements from these kinds of posts.

Unique Product Usage

This applies to majorly Instagram pages of vendors of physical products. You can create some rare usage and hacks of your products. You can also take this a step further by creating a video showcasing these creative hacks. Who knows? One of your videos might even go viral!

Inspirational Images

Give your followers a break from the norms of you showcasing your products or services. Inspirational quotes and images are a great way to offer inspirations to your followers and show them that you actually care about them and you are not just after their money. In fact, you can make a twist to this by creatively infusing them into your product display.

Celebrations & Events

This can be seen as a subset of the “behind the scene posts”. You can share personal & business milestones on your page to get the attention of your audience! On a general note, higher engagements are experienced on posts relating to any forms of celebrations such as birthdays, anniversaries (both on personal & business accounts). Introducing these kinds of posts once in a while keeps your followers engaged.

Founder Stories

You can add even more human feel to your Instagram page by attaching a human face to your business. Sparingly sharing photos of the founders of the business is a great way to achieve this! Letting your audience in on the stories of the founders makes them have the feeling that they are actually a part of the business.

Conclusion

Building an Instagram page can be fun and sometimes it can be frustrating. Especially, when you feel you have done everything right and you are not getting anyone to like your photos or comments (Issue for another post). Building a great page is nevertheless, always worthwhile.

Building a successful business is all based on happy customers and clients. When thinking of branding, it is very easy to pass this as something for big corporations. However, branding is just as important for small and medium businesses.

Branding is generally about the associations which are made with a company, service, individual, product or organization. These associations created are usually intentional and may sometimes be otherwise. The associations are usually achieved through active promotion via marketing and corporate identity. In a bid to bring some effective branding techniques for start-ups/small businesses, Lee Digital was able to gather the following tips.

1. Invest in your customers.

No, I do not mean literally giving out money to your customers waiting for something in return. One of the most efficient ways to get the word out on your brand is through focusing on your customer’s experience. Though this might seem simple, the numbers say otherwise on the number of companies that fail to do just this. A happy customer will definitely share the news of the company with friends and families. Referrals and customer testimonials definitely get more attention and are more likely to convert. It’s no gimmicks, who will you likely trust? A classmate who shared his experience with you? Or that big belly guy yelling on the T.V?

2. First impression matters.

You should always strive to leave a good first impression about you with your prospects. Even if this entails spending more to create the perfect first impression, it will definitely be worth it. A lot of companies are found wanting in this aspect, as they tend to put the cart before the horse by focusing on tactics before strategy. You should ensure that you understand your value and connect everything back to it. You should also create high-valued tactics and look professional as much as you can.

3. Branding is about consistency.

If you want people to associate your values with your business, then there is a need for you to be consistent. You don’t want a confusing perception of your business from your customers. Ensure that you stay true to your graphical contents such as colours, typography or fonts. Creating a standard design guide will help you achieve this.

4. Create an elevator pitch.

Launching a start-up, the best way to promote your business is through words of mouth. Whenever you get the opportunity to discuss your business, ensure that you have a consistent elevator pitch for your prospective clients and customers. So hit those networking events and expos with this pitch to create a uniform sense of your business.

5. Put your customers first.

The first tip is based on your customers, and so is the last. This is to emphasize the importance of treating your customers right to your business. Ensure that your customers top the list of your considerations in making business decisions. There is a need for you to be very sensitive to any actions that will have negative impacts on your customers. It is only when a customer feels well taken care of that they will spread the word about your company to others. Always remember, customer testimonials get the most attention.

Bottom Line

Getting your brands established in your audience mind should be your topmost priority as a start-up. There is a need for you to get this right, starting from the first day of business. Taking the little familiar but forgotten techniques explained in this post will get you started in the right direction. Enjoy your day. smiley
Career / Re: My Salary Is Way Lower Than My Colleagues, I Am In Pains!! (please Advice) by leedigital: 8:22pm On Jan 03, 2019
Holybwoy:
Poverty issa bastard.. This is the first time I would be getting an offer above 100k. When the chinese HR called me on phone and said "You are the guy we want to work for us. we will be offering you 150k".. I quickly jumped at the offer because I earn 40k at my former place of work. When I was going through the interview process, they asked how much I earn at my current place of work, I said 180k for a graphics designer position.
So, when they offered me 150k, povertea don block my brain to negotiate further.
Today, upon resumption after complaining to my HR about salary deductions, he said it was a mistake. He then proceeded to show me my Salary profile. He thought I was looking at mine but I was scanning through my colleagues that we came in at the same time..
700k.. 600k.. 500k

I am in pains!!
I am not envying them.. i am just feeling stupid for not knowing my value.. they know theirs!! I won't make this same mistake..

Chaii embarassed embarassed embarassed embarassed

Is there something I can do?

This is really sad. Just keep your head up and keep doing your job even better than the 700k guys. They will see your worth soon enough. Or better still, you can consider one of the ideas dropped earlier and look for a better opportunity and leverage that for a pay rise.
