Hi everyone, please can I get the breakdown of estimated yearly living cost in Derby, UK inclusive of accommodation (single woman without dependent and also preferably in the school provided accommodation because all bill like gas, wifi etc are included in the rent), food, books /study materials, clothing, etc.

Just a regular lifestyle, nothing extravagant.

Please.. Thank you.

My second question is, my offer is for September, when is the best time to start enrollment?

For now, i am concentrating on sending my transcripts from my school to them and getting my certificate from my university.

Congratulations, I am quite encouraged by your confidence, I am writing on the 14th of January 2023. Any further tips?

Congratulations.

Please can you post the link of the thread where you got useful tips from?

Derby offered me admission but they are requesting for IELTS. Their reason is that the DOB on my WAEC certificate is wrong and they won't accept affidavit. So, i sent them my NECO. I don't know if they will accept it though.

But meanwhile, i want to start getting prepped for the IELTS exam because i don't want to loose the offer.

Endeavor to read the school requirements. Some schools don't accept WAEC result if it is above 10 yrs. Also, some schools have their internal English test you can take.

Okay, thanks. I will check their website again and contact them again.

Hello

Have you asked if they can accept any alternative like WAEC or letter from your previous Uni stating the course was taught in English?

If they don't accept it then you have to make arrangements for your IELTS test

Cheers

I sent them this email immediately i got the offer

Thank you for your offer of admission to study in your university.

Regarding the conditions, English is the official language of my country, Nigeria and all my education was received in English language.

Also i scored a C4 in my English language when i wrote West African Examination Council (Senior School Certificate Exam).

Good morning everyone, i just got another offer from University of Derby to study BIOMEDICAL HEALTH (my 1st degree is Medical laboratory science) but surprisingly they requested i submit proof of IELTS test.

Besides, this wasn't among the requirements on their website for the course.

Honesty i am contemplating going for this course before September but this IELTS test just weakened me. Please how do i go about it.

Though i am still expecting offers from some other schools like NTU, Southwales, UCLAN, Teesside.

U said u have 5M...
If u have bsc.....there are schools in europe with masters degree tuition less than 700k for 60 unit depending on the course e.g Hasselt uni, Namur university etc...
U will still have enough left for proof of funds.and travel without too much head ache like UK

Please can you throw more light on the low tuition universities in Europe? Like the schools. Thanks

UK universities now are like hot cake, if you waste time they will carry your slot give another person.

Indians, Pakistani and Bangladesh are hustling it like mad.

So the earlier you pay the better.

But them no dey give you CAS now oh till maybe like 3-4 months before resumption date.

The reviews i read about Bedfordshire is not appealing at all.

I am applying to 5 more schools.

Will patiently wait.

My 2nd question is, for someone resuming September 2023, what is the best time to travel assuming Visa has been issued and all other conditions met.

Can i travel June/July? I have a blood relative i can stay with till school starts with September.
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 8 by Legitmenaija: 9:27pm On Dec 26, 2022
Good evening, i got an offer from University of Bedfordshire for September 2023 and have been asked to pay 65% of the tuition before they can issue CAS.

Please Who knows how long i have to make the payment?
I sent them an email but apparently they have closed for the year.

The answer is 25.

Red wine = 3
Champagne = 5
2 glasses of "half filled" drink = 2

3 + 2 x 5 = 25.

Hello Nairalanders!

Been going through a rough patch recently and my head is quite full at the moment.

The pressure to hustle, succeed and survive in this current world we are in is real but not easy.

God, life & nature has been good to me and i have tried to do my best to survive in this harsh yet beautiful world.

In a nutshell, i seem to be falling behind and loosing the zeal, will and drive to keep pushing and surviving.

My failed marriage may have something to do with it as it wasn't what I ever wished for but however it happened and kinda affected my drive for survival.

I need really positive minded people around me (online or offline).

I want to be motivated.

I want to go far in life and make some positive impact.

I need people who are goal oriented with great hunger and fire for growth to be my friends.

Adult Males and females are welcome.

Be intelligent, smart, full of ideas with determination to succeed and pull your fellow humans up along with you.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME
I'm a mother to 3 kids aged 10 and below.

Family / Re: I Need A Mentor For My 10 Years Old Son. by Legitmenaija: 3:42am On Nov 09, 2022

His poor grades and lazy attitude towards studies is probably because he's too young for his class. At 10 he should be in primary 5 or 6 not JS2. Maybe he finds the work too advanced and that's why he can't keep up. Since he's ten in JS2 it means he probably skipped 2 classes so his foundation may be weak. You could try getting him a lesson teacher though if he doesn't already have one.

As for the sluggishness and playfulness I don't think you need to worry too much about it. It's likely just a phase that will pass. He's still maturing so. When I was that age I was so playful that I could hardly sit in one place for up to five minutes. I was very restless in class, constantly talking and causing distractions. My parents were worried too but by the time I was 12, my attitude had changed and I was doing well in school. So don't be too worried it's just immaturity which he'll grow out of.

Just keep talking to him and encouraging him. With time he will change.

Thank you.

He started from pre nursery at age 2.

His father didn't allow him do nursery 3, saying it was not important.

So from Nursery 2 he entered PRY 1 and have been going like that.

He did not skip any class.

I have a nephew with a similar problem.. but his is a bit too serious.

At 14, he's still struggling to read and write to a point that he can't even construct a good sentence in his home language or English.

My boy does not have such problem thought.

He reads very well.

He is very good at spelling.

He writes very very well.

The issue i have with him is the sluggishness with with he does things. Especially the note copying from the board.

He probably needs a male figure to talk to like some one suggested.

Though there is great improvement since i started implementing all the advice given here and in my inbox.

He is now in speed writing competition with his classmates.

I told him he can do it. He only has to push himself and its working.

We will definitely get there.

I totally understand your frustration. You need to get tougher with him, some kids are like that, they need to be pushed hard.

My kid does quite well in school, he is quite smart. However, this same boy will come last if we let him have his way. He doesn't want to do anything. He wants to play every single minute.

The secret is to go tough, we make sure he does his homework regularly, set a timetable for him and give him personal homework to do. Sometimes, the temptation to want to let him play is there, but knowing that this world is tough is enough to make us push him hard. If he is successful tomorrow, the benefits are majorly for him.

By the way he is given play time too, but the play time is a reward for doing all his tasks successfully. Try and adopt this same approach, it may help.

Thank you so much for the tips. I am grateful.

You are right to want a mentor for him but also know that you are also part of his problem for always trying to compare him to others. Camparison of him and the pushing of him to level up with others at all time is highly dangerous, I repeat it is highly dangerous, I speak from my personal experience as a child and as a teacher.

When I was still actively teaching what I usually do with such children is to join them in their playful imaginary world through things like story telling that requires their playful response too. The words that they usually use in their response is what I then always use in explaining serious stuff like mathematics and other subjects that they hate or find difficult.

Believe me this works greatly, with this I was able to always get through to them and help them overcome their changes. But I always add a little bit of prayers unto God for them too in my secret because if knowledge and wisdom can only be gotten solely by man effort then Solomon won't have prayed unto God for it in the first place. 08131136076 is my contact in case you may need further tips.

Thank you so much.
