Politics / Re: Senate Says It Is Ready To Amend Nigerian Constitution To Okay State Police by Lekomax: 11:35am On Feb 18
malali:
Clueless senators, ready to rubber stamp the president or a prominent elite.

They are not even aware they represent their constituencies, they have not discussed state police with the people who elected them.

Tinubu mentioned state police yesterday, the whole senate woke up today, and they are ready to "approve" it.

Presidential, legislative and the judiciary should be holding each other accountable, to provide checks and balances.

But in Nigeria, none of that exists.... Possible problems would be:

1-Potential for political interference and corruption.
2-Inadequate funding leading to poor resources and training.
3-Fragmentation of law enforcement, causing coordination issues.
4-Risk of abuse of power without strong oversight.
5-Exacerbation of ethnic and regional tensions.

Start slowly 80% federal police and 20% state police,Gradually over 6 years pullback till we have 10% Federal and 90% state, But there should always be federal oversight, Nigeria is too polarized to have every state having their own police.

If this government should turn to state police overnight, They are removing the subsidy on state security.

We are still in the turmoil of removed dollar and fuel subsidy. Anyone suggesting state police now is being delusional.
I strongly agree with you. πŸ‘

Not sure Lekki new seaport would make that happen soon. Just like Lagos State government did, nothing stops Soludo from inviting partners without FG financial contribution to build a seaport in Anambra
How would that be possible when none of the Eastern states is by the sea? Lagos State is by the Atlantic ocean, reason it's possible to have seaports there. South East is landlocked for your information.
Politics / Re: Lagos Election: Chinedu Rhodes-vivour Hallucinating After Sanwo-Olu’s Win – APC by Lekomax: 9:50am On Mar 20, 2023
How on Earth did you think Yoruba's would vote GRV, a silly young man that was fond of tweeting derogatory stuffs about his father's Yoruba tribe, while forming alliance with IPOB? It's not about where Sanwoolu comes from, as long as he is a Yoruba's man. Yoruba's don't discriminate against one another, hence they consider Lagos as collectively owned by them irrespective of state of origin. Besides, Sanwoolu has performed excellently well. It would be so unwise to experiment a blessed state like Lagos in the hands of a novice as Governor who has anti-Yoruba and IPOB agenda. GRV's past really caught up with him, coupled with the unguarded statements of his delusional supporters that tagged Lagos a no man's land. There was no way he could have won the election. This is a lesson for his likes.
PremiumTech:
I think many people in the APC lacks emotional intelligence.

1. They are so blinded that they failed to understand that they are further widening our already fragile unity.

2. I am a Yoruba, but the kind of divide that Tinubu and the so called elders set in motion will hunt the entire country for a very long time.
We were not allowed to join the queue on Saturday because they say we didn't look like Yorubas. I mean, what an injustice?
Just to have access to the state funds and continue looting our money.

3. GRV is more Lagosian that Tinubu, Sanwo Olu, Fashola and every others combined. None of these people are originally from Lagos. Tinubu is from Iragbiji in Osun state, Sanwolu from Ondo and all. GRV's father is an "original" Lagosian. So I wonder how this being an Igbo came into play in the first place.

4. Tinubu's son is married to a foreigner (non Nigerian), Tinubu's wife is originally an Itsekiri lady, Tinubu is from Osun state. I just can't process this whole Lagos take over by Igbos.

So if tomorrow Seyi Tinubu decides to contest, I hope the same people should be able to tell him that he's an alien and not a Lagosian?

5. How some baales and oba heartlessly joined in the destruction is what is left of our heritage baffles me. I thought they were elders.

6. And I ask again, where's the receipt or any evidence of Igbos saying Lagos is no man's land and that they want to take over Lagos? I thought that people would demand for evidences before they joined in causing this indelible enmity or hatred?

It is so sad that people don't think about the consequences of their actions before venturing into injustice.

The little trust is broken and it will backfire even in the APC because some southeasterners are members of the APC too.

Politics / Re: Tribalism Hidden In Foundations Of Our Country Have Come Out - Bolanle Olukanni by Lekomax: 3:48pm On Mar 19, 2023
How will they retaliate? Instead of you to advise them to be well behaved like other tribes living in Yoruba land, you rather talk about retaliation. You hardly see Yorubas and other tribes living in Igbo land, so if they foment trouble, they will end up being losers. They always want to dominate wherever they are, but can't tolerate other tribes. Yorubas are not fools, enough is enough.
Jnkay:
My take is what goes around comes around. When Igbos will hit us back we Yorubas should not complain. I know Igbos because they don't forget things easily and they will remind us all we did to them soon that is who they are. They will keep quite but they will eventually retaliate.

EmekaA125:

Guber elections are holding in 28 states across the federation but na only Lagos videos we dey see.

They have abandoned their region to UGM and IPOB grin and are bent on determining the fate of Yorubas in the South West.

Two months ago, I was never a tribalist. But these animals will bring out the beast in you. What you cannot take in Anambra or Enugu, don't bring it to South West.

You guys keep playing senseless politics that has never favoured you since the civil war. What will be the fate of Igbos in Lagos and South West after the elections?

This same behaviour is why the South Africans, Ghanaians, Libyans, Indonesians, Indians etc are hostile towards us. This same attitude by a section of the country in bringing disrepute to our nation by relaying their hosts with hostility and crime.

Just yesterday, I saw a video of an IPOB wannabe disarming a South African police officer of his pistol and his fellow tribesmen were there hailing him to shoot the officer. If the SAs decide to pounce on all of you, you will now expect solidarity from the rest of us against Xenophobia.

I am patiently waiting for the animal that quote me to say rubbish. I get plenty time today. Thank God, it's a weekend.

This is Lagos island not Lagos State.

Just like Oyo state is different from Oyo town.

Enugu town is different from Enugu state

Lagos State is a Creation of the Nigerian military government.

By the way, there is nothing contentious in saying Lagos State is Yoruba land.

The whole of Nigeria once belonged to Royal Niger company as a private property. It doesn't mean there were no indigenous Hasuas in Kano or indigenous Igbos in Anambra at that time.
πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌYou are just too much! It's high time all these ignoramuses are enlightened to be able to differentiate Eko (Lagos Island) from the entire state. It takes only a mad person to drag another man's heritage, claiming it's no man's land. Kano (North West) is Hausa state, Anambra (South East) is Igbo state, Lagos State ( South West) is Yoruba state!

Politics / Re: The Internet Never Forgets: Gbadebo Vivour Accused Of Insulting Pastor Adeboye by Lekomax: 3:11pm On Mar 07, 2023
This GRV obviously has no Yoruba blood in him, based on the various derogatory statements he has made about the Yorubas. Can't imagine an exuberant bigot governing a complex state like Lagos. This election is an eye-opener to so many hitherto hidden issues.
brutustech:
Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party, made a derogatory remark on Twitter about Pastor Enoch Adeboye, a highly respected pastor and leader of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, in response to his compliment to El-Rufai during a visit. This tweet has generated widespread outrage and debates about the importance of respectful discourse in public conversations.

Although some supporters of the Labour Party have defended Rhodes, citing his right to free speech and claiming that his tweet was simply expressing his personal opinion, a significant number of people, particularly the elders, have condemned his language. They believe that insulting a revered public figure like Pastor Adeboye is unacceptable and disrespectful.

Furthermore, they see Rhodes' generalization of Yoruba people as those who are known to "lick ass" as a derogatory comment, that insults the entire Yoruba clan

Gbadebo's remark is not only harmful but also has the potential to escalate conflicts. It undermines the fundamental principles of civility, tolerance, and mutual respect, which are essential for a healthy and functional society. Making derogatory comments about someone with a differing opinion about others creates an atmosphere of hostility and division.
Moreover, as a Yoruba descendant, Gbadebo's comment is both condescending and disrespectful. It demonstrates that he lacks regard for others, which disqualifies him from being a suitable leader.

Notable elders in Lagos state have expressed their opinion that Gbadebo is not fit to be the governor of Lagos state due to his lack of respect. Therefore, Lagosians require a leader who can provide good governance, promote respectful discourse in public conversation, and work towards a society that values civility, tolerance, and mutual respect.

Ok
Those that accuse Ekiti of bigotry and election rigging are mindless fools.
Ekiti Election was one of the freest and fairest election in Nigeria.
APC had 64 percent or there about, but the people in Enugu who gave their son 90 something percent will call Ekiti names! what an effrontery!
in reality who practices bigotry most in Nigeria if not the Igbos, check around you, they always congregate and try to colonize their Hosts. they are never satisfied until they own everything in your society. They are condescending and think they are better than everyone. Even though most of them lack what you would call common sense. These same people would not sell a pinch of land for you in their communities if you don't over pay excessively. they would never give you any roles in their societies. yet, they call others bigot.
the worst part is we allow these immature, ignorant fools to call our elders names. To drag our integrity in the mud. and for what? For a Peter Obi most Yoruba youths in urban areas supported!?
In honesty, can you compare Obi's antecedents with Asiwaju's? or Kwakwanso's? yet, we supported him because we wanted a change in status quo not because we think he's better cos he's not!

In integrity, character and involvement in national development, why would anyone vote an Obi over a Kwankwaso or an Asiwaju or even a Sowore?

We have more than 300 tribes in Nigeria, Most have not tasted Presidency, most are not complaining except for confused and deluded our Brothers from the East.

Call me a bigot, at this point, I don't care but note, I have never in my life asked anyone where they are from, or relate to anyone because they are from my tribe. I see people, not places they are from. I've always found it unnerving when I get asked that question or someone is asked around me.

Most Nigerians are bigots, if not, why would the issue of Zoning Even come up in the first place?

Asiwaju is a National hero irrespective of the outcome of this election.

Don't let anyone denigrate your heros, your leaders and elders! History would not be kind to you.

Ekiti people are kind, accommodating, Educated, honest, hardworking and intelligent. don't let anyone make you feel otherwise.

Absolute truth. You are too much. πŸ‘

Good.

I am supporting Peter Obi to win so that he can help revive Nigeria's dead leadership so that Nigeria can for all Nigerians irrespective of tribe.

For those supporting Tinubu to win just to spite Igbos and to brag that they said it that an Igbo will never rule Nigeria, remember the future of your children, 4 years or 8 years is not 2 months.

Many Northerners that supported Buhari out of tribalism are not alive today to voice their regret, many of them got killed as a result of insecurity caused by Buhari and APC failed government.

Don't reward failure with another chance.

Let's try Peter Obi and if he fails we come together and push him out.

It will be easier to vote out Peter Obi or correct him through a protest than to vote out Tinubu or Atiku.

Lastly, look at the kind of politicians following Tinubu and Atiku, they are all the same wicked, ruthless, corrupt old criminals that kept Nigeria on the floor for over 60years now, don't expect miracle from them.

Peter Obi political base is built on youths and vibrant young people who are only passionate about changing Nigeria for good, not necessarily seasoned criminal politicians like those in APC and PDP who are into politics to steal, loot, kill and destroy.

Peter Obi have been busy telling Nigerians how he intends to lead Nigeria and the great plans he has to change things in Nigeria while Tinubu and his supporters have been busy telling Nigerians why Peter Obi should not be voted in as President just because he is Igbo and because his Labor Party have no structure. They don't have any other concrete thing against Peter Obi becoming President aside the fact that he is Igbo and contesting under a structureless party.

But these wicked souls forgot that Igbos have voted Presidential candidates from other tribes; Shagari (Hausa), MKO Abiola (Yoruba) won Anambra, Obasanjo (Yoruba), Yaradua (Fulani), Goodluck (Ijaw) and Atiku (Fulani). But now that a credible, over qualified Igbo man is contesting and making waves, they are calling it Igbo agenda, but the same Igbos voted and supported Presidential candidates from their own tribes. As we do whatever we do in life, lets all remember that there is a God, and some bigger powers watching us from above.

The big party structures they are bragging with, how has PDP or APC big party structure helped Nigeria since 1999?

Hausa have ruled, Fulani have ruled, Yoruba have ruled, Ijaw have ruled, how did their government change your personal life or that of your immediate family as someone from their tribe? Think about this as you cast your vote on Saturday.

I am Igbo by tribe, but God knows I am not just supporting Peter Obi because he is Igbo because if it were to be some Igbo political criminals like Rochas Okorocha, Orji Uzo Kalu, Theodore Orji, Ike Ekweremadu, etc, contesting this election, God forbid I support or vote any of them.

Dear Nigerian youths, this is a rare opportunity to rewrite the history of Nigeria for greater good of all Nigerians. Presidential election is not a tribal war neither it is about showing which tribe is more superior to the other. Don't let them deceive you, thousands of Hausa-Fulani people that voted Buhari mainly because he is from their tribe are not alive today to tell you they regretted their action because most of them are dead, some are hungry and poorer even though their tribesman is the President.

Vote with wisdom, good leadership goes beyond tribe! Let God's spirit lead you to make the right choice. Let your inner conscience guide you. Above partisan politics, I pray that God speak to you as you cast your vote on Saturday.[/quote]
