And the largest virgin forest in the world is in the Amazon, Brazil; Congo DR is a close second. Amazon might be losing out fast because of massive forest depletion by human activities. |

Our lazy media is responsible for celebrating most of the misinformation. They fail woefully in putting the records straight as custodians of public information. |

Career › Re: HELP !!!!!!!!!!! Right Abuse By Employers. by LeStylo: 7:47am On Aug 29, 2015 |
maldonaldo: Good day All, I have an issue with a Chinese- owned FMCG manufacturing company that is based in Agege, Lagos.
I was employed February this year as an Area Sales Manager and my job function was to recruit Distributors – Business people who buy in bulk purchases and resell to Sub-distributors, Wholesalers and retailers as the case may be.
Although faced with the challenges of :
- No support sales team like Sales executive, Merchandisers etc (Though they promised to provide) - No mobility tool move around an Area covering 3 states in the south west. - No support in form of Marketing and promotions.
As a career person who has over 6 years experience in the same position in other companies in the past, I gave in my best and in no time started getting sales from my location.
Suddenly during the 1st week of August I got a call to appear at the Head Office and was told I’ve been relieved of my services because I didn’t perform as expected by management. Shocking as it is, and coupled with the fact that records proved otherwise, I agreed to move since it’s not my father’s company.
BUT my salary of July was not paid up till now (Almost 1 month), despite the fact that I surpassed my target and did 117%- well above my target in the month of July.
I have done ALL the necessary clearance – which are releasing all company’s property in my possession and the company’s staff (National Sales Manager and Regional Managers) have confirmed that I do not owe any customer /Distributor any KOBO.
I have been calling the HR Manager, the NSM and Regional Manager for weeks and all they are playing me like I’m kid.
I believe this is an infringement on my Human rights as I have a lot of financial challenges; I have a young family to take care, I have to move on with my career and so on.
The delay has made me lose my intention of applying for an MBA I wanted to apply for as deadline for application is passed and I’ve been exposed to terrible conditions and situations that have financial links.
I hereby appeal to all Human Right activists, Labour union activists, human right lawyers and the general public to advice me on what steps to take because I suspect FOUL PLAY by the management of this company.
I believe there are lots of Nigerian youths who have also been mistreated by these foreign companies and it's time we put an end to it. Visit Lagos State Office of the Public Defender at Ojuelegbe Baracks along Funsho Williams Avenue (formerly Western Avenue), Surulere. Ensure you've got all necessary documents and correspondence to corroborate your side of the story including emails. They'll pay you "rush-rush" when they receive a subpoena. |

phyllosilicate: I could remember how Okonjo Iweala was shouting how Nigeria was broke, how Nigerians should tighten their belt because of the falling price of crude oil and that Nigeria would borrow to be able to finance the 2015 budget. But in just 3 months almost 60% of the Budget has been generate just from petroleum products alone, not including revenues generated internally and other export. IF THIS MUCH COULD BE GENERATED WITHIN 3 MONTHS WHEN OIL PRICE IS ABOUT $50 PER BARREL, WHERE WAS OUR MONEY GOING TO WHEN IT WAS $110 PER BARREL? We've been robbed blind! |

zendy: At least Ojukwu was fighting for the liberation his people unlike Awolowo who opted to become "boy-boy" to Gowon who was young enough to be his son, and in the process, sold the Yoruba nation to the Nothern oligarchy It might interest you to know that Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu returned to Nigeria to support Shagari's return to power in 1983. He neither supported Awolowo nor his very brother - Chief Dr Nnamdi Azikwe. He supported the very people you loathe and blame for all the wrongs. High time we laid to rest the overbeaten myth of people liberation. He was human anyway. |

dis one na Omo jaiye jaiye na. Quit that please! You absolutely don't know him and it'll be most unfair to judge him. He's one of the most intelligent young guys I've ever met all my life. Decent, religious and very broad. He'll take you on any topic. I personally know him as his elder sister was my classmate in the Uni. The story didn't even include that his first attempt was botched as he got Geology as a compensatory gesture from the school. He led his class that first year. I actually overheard him defining cancer to a year one medical student and was like, "Mansoor, I think, you study geology?". His sociological traits have always pointed to this direction - vocal, confident and good diction. Medicine left a vacuum in the poor guy that never got filled, despite being a voracious reader. Ismaila was also a popular writer on campus. He never wanted to hurt his dad, he finally had to! I wish him good luck in his new endeavour. |

Politics › Re: FG Builds Helipad For Buhari In Daura by LeStylo: 2:20pm On Jun 28, 2015 |
Rawani: Building a helipad which will allow the President fly to Daura directly from the villa will be a cheaper option than using the Eagle One Presidential jet to first fly to Katsina and then moving the entire convoy by road to Daura, a trip that is repeated for his return as well.
Let's keep in mind that the soil in Otueke is loamy so a helipad is not necessary for safe landing, in contrast to the sandy Daura soil which would raise dust when landing that could dangerously block the pilots visibility. The construction cost of a helipad is about N2 million.
This is a 'clueful' decision which is highly efficient, especially as it significantly reduces the cost of governance. Finally, someone to school these "collective children of anger"! |
Islam › Re: Any Igbo Muslim In The House by LeStylo: 5:39am On Jun 27, 2015 |
Yes, I did meet Issa Okonkwo at a conference in UI in 2001. A very strong and passionate muslim brother. His impression was a lasting one.
Daud Chukwuemeka was the MCAN Batch B Missioner in 2005/2006 in delta state.
I also met this high chief from Abavo, such likeable old man. He narrated what he went through as a muslim in the community he himself heads. How the chiefs in the community rose against him, how fetish sacrifices used to be placed at his door; how he mysteriously was knocked down by paralysis. One day, he declared that he will walk again on his very legs if indeed he worships the one true God. Indeed, he rose to walk again. He won many converts and built the Abavo mosque. I'm not sure if he's still alive, May Allah bless him wherever he may be. Ameen. |
