How does one get the certi9fcate of origin to upload? Or is it not mandatory for renewals. That is my only issue from doing it myself. Kindly revert is f you have a solution to this. Thanks ekpesfrancis: The reason for this reform was to eliminate middlemen in the application of our International Passport. I'm shocked people are still using middlemen for passport applications and some getting scammed in the process. The online application is seamless and stress free |

Travel › Re: My Seamless DIY Passport Renewal Journey At Alausa Passport Office by Lexaccord(m): 7:19pm On Apr 26 |
Hello Bro, Proof of origin for renewal? Kindly enlighten us on how you got this? I have had a passport for close to 20 years now, why do they still need my proof of origin...lol Ifystar: Hello Nairalanders
Below is an article detailing my passport renewal journey in 2025... I hope this helps someone
Renewing a passport can often feel like a daunting task, filled with uncertainty about timelines and processes. However, my recent experience at the Alausa Passport Office in Lagos proved to be surprisingly efficient and straightforward, especially considering it was a completely DO-IT-YOURSELF (DIY) application, with no agent involvement whatsoever. Here’s a breakdown of my journey:
My renewal process began on April 22, 2025, when I initiated and completed the online application. This involved carefully filling out the necessary online forms and making the online payment. I opted for the transfer method via Paystack, which was seamless. I handled every step of this process myself, ensuring all information was accurate and submitted directly through the official channel - https://passport.immigration.gov.ng/. This included ensuring I had digital copies of essential documents for upload. Specifically, I had scanned copies of my Birth Certificate, Proof of Origin, and the biodata page of my expired passport. Additionally, the online form required the input of my National Identification Number (NIN) digits. A crucial part of this stage was ensuring my passport photograph met the strict ICAO standards. To effortlessly achieve the required dimensions of 600x800 pixels, I found the online tool at https://webupon.com/blog/600x800_pixel-image-converter/ to be incredibly useful.
Initially, I booked my biometrics appointment for April 28, 2025. However, upon checking the application status, I noticed it hadn't been approved yet. Seeking clarification, I reached out to @nis_response on Instagram regarding the delay. The response was to be patient and await the approval. Fortunately, the approval came through relatively quickly on April 30, 2025. I received an email notification confirming that my application had been approved, which was a welcome relief.
With the approval in hand, I proceeded to the Alausa Passport Office for my biometrics appointment on May 2, 2025. I ensured I had all the necessary documents printed, including the payment slip, the vetted/approved application slip, and the appointment slip. Of course, I also carried my expired passport with me. During my time at the office, I observed the process and interacted with other applicants. It was reassuring to see that both those applying for fresh passports and those, like myself, seeking renewals were treated with the same level of attention and efficiency by the NIS officials. The process flowed smoothly for everyone I encountered. The checks and paperwork were handled efficiently, and the biometrics capture itself was quick. In total, I spent approximately 3 hours at the office and was done.
May 5, 2025, I tracked my application status online, and it displayed "PRODUCTION: Passport production is in progress." This indicates that my passport is now being manufactured.
Based on my experience, here are a few key takeaways that could be helpful for others undergoing passport application, especially for renewal: Prepare digital copies of essential documents: Ensure you have scanned copies of your Birth Certificate (or Age Declaration Certificate), Proof of Origin, and the biodata page of your expired passport ready for uploading during the online application. Have your NIN ready: You will be required to input your National Identification Number (NIN) digits during the application process. Utilize helpful online tools: For ensuring your passport photo meets the specific ICAO requirements, especially the 600x800 pixel dimension, consider using a tool like the one I found at https://webupon.com/blog/600x800_pixel-image-converter/. It can save you time and potential issues with your application. Print all necessary documents: Having your payment slip, vetted/approved application slip, and appointment slip readily available will expedite the process. Take your expired passport with you. Consider the Alausa Passport Office: From my experience, and as others have noted on this forum, this office appears to be operating with commendable efficiency, treating all applicants with the same level of professionalism. The entire process was seamless and fast, particularly because there were no issues with my application. Be vigilant and aware: It's worth noting that I encountered no instances of extortion, which speaks positively about the professionalism at this particular office.
Lastly, I will update this article with the date of collection once I receive my new passport. Overall, my DIY passport renewal journey at the Alausa Passport Office has been a positive one, highlighting the potential for a smooth and timely process for all passport applicants when you take ownership of your application and things run efficiently.
Blessings
ADDENDUM: I PICKED UP THE RENEWED PASSPORT ON THE 23rd, MAY 2025 (EXACTLY 3 WEEKS FROM THE DAY OF BIOMETRICS) Cheers as you try to get yours |

Great to know yours is very homely and cares for the kids. There are people in this similar situation and it is the man that still goes the extra mile to think about how things in the house will not get grounded despite him bringing all the finance
God dey sha Elipheleh, my story is very similar to yours and it's been on for over a decade now. 3rd class, no job, no business. No ambition. All she wants is a good life and money to spend.... and it is frustrating to say the least.
This is despite the fact that I broke my first true relationship of over 4 years because of this fear. I had seen enough experiences with my uncles to know it's not a good idea. All the wife would care about are her kids, watching Nollywood all day, and wanting the latest items they see on other people they gossip about. I discussed this with my wife before marriage that I do not want a wife like this and she said yes, ok. Only to count several years in marriage and she never stepped out of the house to go work for one day. I've designed CV multiple times and given her money for business. All down the drain because she has no drive to do it.
But I will reecho what honour8 said. I met my wife at a low point in life but ever since, I have found myself in an upward trajectory. Every big project I put my hands into, even though it's quite difficult and takes a long time, eventually turns successful. I previously had a cycle of 3 years of good tidings and by the fourth year I would be expecting some kind of setback but things changed since I met her. She talks about it too.
Now, I'm not so spiritual or anything. I have fought with her countless times and given her several ultimatums in this issue but it's just ingrained in her not to do/want anything other than her current life.
I'm not giving up on her however because even though her inaction has put me in dire straits when it comes to making some big career decisions multiple times, I choose to look at the positives. She's good natured, loves to care for the kids better than anyone else I know and does all housewifely chores gladly. Cook, clean, etc
Besides there are many educated Nigerian couples out there today with only the husband working. Even though the wife wants to work, there's no opportunity. So just manage your accounts and lead your family the best way you can given the situation.[/quote] |
Career › Re: Before You Choose That Career. Lessons From Kyari's Ordeal by Lexaccord(m): 5:52pm On Jul 30, 2021 |
c2far: Your personality should be a major deciding factor before you choose a career. If you love wealth there are certain career paths you can't choose. Not because you won't be wealthy, it is because you have a lower chance to and again there is a bigger chance you may get tempted.
Imagine a young lecturer saying he or she wants to be as wealthy as Dangote. Chances are that your case will be like that of the NECO/JAMB man, Dibu Ojerinde.
You can't be a Police Officer and be as ostentatious as Kyari. Check his Facebook timeline. That picture of him and his brothers puts the latter at risk. That profession does not fit that lifestyle. Imagine seeing my Imam that loves comedy always liking the posts of Mr. Macaroni. He can only enjoy the posts privately.
You know you have a weakness for women and you are a lecturer in the School of Social Sciences. Even criminals who want to stay undetected stay off social media but then they can't help it sometimes. If you love to be in informal dresses, there are certain profession that will be hard for you to fit in. I can't go to the hospital and then I am told the doctor is the best but he is on dreads.... I'll not risk it. I'll take a walk. There are written and unwritten code for every profession. Kyari erred.
He saw my Kaftan and liked it.... Are you normal at all Kyari? (In Macaroni's voice). We loved the idea that there was our own Jack Bauer somewhere but then it seems all is lost now.
Don't just get a job because you need one. Get one that fits. And stay with the code. We spend over 12 hours daily on our work. It's our life. Choose wisely. So apt bro! |

gbemishile: hello nairalanders.
I am thinking of getting a decent self contain partment in lagos that is close to my work place. I am currently employed with a salary scale of about a 100k, and for now I have no alternative source of income except my current job which is a govt job. I am just scared I might not be able to sustain the rent cus I only have my salary to depend on for now, and I will still have some other commitments like family etc.
I was thinking of getting a decent one room, like a face me I slap u, till am able to gather my home furnitures, and also try to develop myself in terms of certifications, or learning some IT skills, then I can move to a decent self contain. The only fear is the last time I lived that life was my University days.
Can a salary of 100k sustain an apartment here in Lagos?
Your comments are highly welcome Please start with a face me i slap you house and proceed gradually. You should not spend all ykur income on housing. I started living in a face me i slap you house when i got to lagos in 2006 (after my nysc). I lived there for 2 years, then mived to a small 2 bedroom (my income had increased to sustain this rent by then), i have further mived to something better to match my current lifestyle. take am easy bro. Origin: Its the beggar mentality...
The low self esteem mentality....
The lack of self respect mentality...
Yes there is poverty in the land. And the pay may not be good.
But that should never be the answer. I have seen security guards that wear gatored shirts bright, black and shiny shoes who greet you with a smile. I know their pay is not good but would not stoop to begging.
I've met people wey get qualifications pass water who started with very low paying jobs and still did not beg.
The most unfortunate part is the one who earns a lot of money and still begs/steal from the poverty striken (palliative). That is the highest form of begging. They look rich but their eyes is always begging and greedy you talk well my sister |

Good Day fellow Nigerians, Home and Abroad. There is an issue which is now very prevalent (thiugh it has been happening before now, but I guess it is now more brazen). A typical Nigerian in a private or public institution wants to get a tip from you for doing nothing. From general understanding, a tip is a reward (monetary) given to someone for a service. In Nigeria, the security at the ATM point who just points you to the way to the ATM waits for you to give him a tip, the gateman to your estate who is being paid monthly salary wants a tip every time he is performing his duty of opening and locking the gate, the woman who gives you your card at the general hospital also wants to be tipped. Now if these people who have virtually done anything extraordinary outside of their normal call to duty want to be tipped all the time, what will remain for the genuine waiter at a restaurant who has given a fantastic service to deliver on time and ensure your needs are met and many more other dutifull workers. Our people must realise this is not too right as we will continue to breed people with an entitlement mentality. |

The concept of renting luxury apartments for vacations is now more popular since the advent of Air Bed and Breakfast; which we all know as Airbnb, a rental place digital company based in San Franciso, California. The company made a revenue of over 4m USD in 2019, though this dipped sharply in 2020 obviously because travel was restricted due to #covid-19. People rent apartments basically to enjoy that unique privacy it offers which hotels may not necessarily give you because it is open to other members of the public. You can have your quiet, private stay away from your usual hustle and bustle, hold very important business meetings, go on baecation with your spouse or lover, do family bonding at any of our 5 star luxurious properties in LEKKI, VICTORIA ISLAND AND IKOYI.
