According to govt figures, both skilled worker visas and health and care visas are down quite significantly compared to the same period last year.

In November, the Home Office received 4,100 skilled visa applications from foreign workers, the lowest number since January 2022 and 2,000 fewer than the same month last year.

There were also just 1,900 applications for heath and care worker visas - down from almost 10,000 in November 2023 - plus 3,800 applications to bring dependents to the UK, data released on Thursday shows.

I don’t know of any Nigerian that went about telling people oh do you know the new Conservative Party leader is a Nigerian? There are Nigerians in the top echelons of many global and national institutions - she’s not the highest profile and will not be the last.

My issue with her is that if you want to disclaim Nigeria feel free to do it and do it entirely, not that every time you open your mouth about Nigeria it’s to say something that paints Nigerians in bad light. If you don’t want to be good PR for Nigeria, then don’t be bad PR either. Àbí ?

Saying that, I recognize that it's her lived experience to express as she sees fit, so she can carry on, and we will also continue calling out her hypocrisy.

To be honest, I find all this immigration talk to be boring.

I am more interested in the nearly 3% public sector payrises,
the money being given to improve public transport(I ve seen a few new buses in my town) ,
the reforms Rayner is pushing in housing( no more nimbys!)
This might be anecdotal but I ve noticed a reduction in ambulance arrival times.

This is what people can feel and I m happy labour is going ahead with their plans.

Never mind the farmers and other wealthy people who whine about taxes.

My heirs will pay IHT at starting from 1 million and they will not have 10 yrs to pay it in. Unlike the farmers who start at 3 million and have 10yrs to pay it in.

They also have their hands out for subsidies . Where do they think the money ll come from? I don't have a lot of sympathy for them, I m afraid.

Let's also not forget, the people talking about conservative financial wastage.....

Spending £562 of tax payers money on office chairs, £1200.00 on folders to carry official papers..... etc etc etc
