Visa Alert!

Application date: 16th of July

Biometric: 23rd of July (The two days Muslim break really delayed my biometrics date, first time I'd ever hate public holiday)

Application type: Priority VI

Application transferred to VAC: 30th of July

Collection email: 30th of July with visa sitting pretty on my passport

Declared: previous USA study visa denial , and schengen visit visa approved

I'm really lost for words. I have followed almost all the study threads on this nairaland, I tried German study route but I was denied admission, same with Canada, Even Unilag denied me admission... Eventually when I got over 4 offers from schools in USA, Trump's visa people dashed my hopes. Already gave up studying abroad then this UK 2 years post study came up and I decided to give it a try.

Thanks to nairaland for all the priceless information. May all of us achieve our japa dreams. ✌️

I was at UKVI VI today and there was a long queue for walk in. Even those on the queue said they wrote their names down yesterday in order to do their walk in today. I guess VI is getting crowded for now

Please I have a question, does choosing priority improve one's chance of getting biometrics appointment closer?

Good morning good people of Nairalander, please which bank form A is fast processed this new week and those who did last week, has the beneficiary been credited?

Please do not use Zenith bank. They are a complete nightmare. I applied for FORM A from them since last week Tuesday and till now nothing. I was even told it could take months.

Hello Guys, please i am scheduled to write IELTS test tomorrow the 28th of March. But with the present situation of things in Lagos and Nigeria at large , I am not sure it will hold. Unfortunately I have not received any mail from British Council concerning the test, whether it has been postponed or not. I have sent them a mail, they haven't responded . I put call through to them via a number, nobody picked. Please what do I do now? I need help...

All IELTS tests have been postponed till further notice in Nigeria. Mine was scheduled for last week but I was informed not to bother coming despite that I had done my speaking test earlier. You will most likely be refunded your money. Let's pray this Corona virus dies down soon

Its pretty much unpredictable. For instance, I saw July 25th as earliest date when i was trying to book, I didn't book. I checked again in about 20 hours and saw that the next two days (including first week of June) were available. I then booked. However, you cant say when a date will be available, so follow your good judgement.

When did you apply for this please? What I'm seeing now is August 2 which is not possible

Good evening house. Please help me out. I brother of mine wants to do an Online program in one of the University in the US that is Atlantic International University. (Atlantic International University
900 Fort Street Mall-40 Honolulu, Hawaii 96813
Main Office Phone: (1) 808 8293740 Ext.2270
Whatsapp: (1) 808 664 4403).
Please help is there any one who knows somebody that done any program from this school. Is the school accredited. How viable is the degree program they offer. Thanks.

Abeg run from this school, it is an unaccredited institution according to Wikipedia. Also most of these type of questions are readily answered by Google. You should endeavour to carry out research by yourself

Please house,
I really wanna ask about the chance of getting visa and obtained financial aid...
A friend told me that one can be denied. Visa by consular if he is granted financial aid (loan) by proposed school.... According to him, consular accept assistanceship, which gives u more ground to get visa, since it is certain ur tuition fee is covered and won't be liability to their system..
Abeg, how factual is this view?

No one can predict your chances of getting visa as it is based on so many factors. However, I have seen people granted their VISA through student loans from MPOWER and their likes and I have also seen people with Graduate Assistant positions denied so I don't see why getting a financial aid from the school should be a problem. You should just have a ready answer on how you intend to pay back the loan in case you are asked.

Good day Bros, please can you put me through on how to go about this Wes evaluation, especially on how to get my Waec transcript. I earlier wanted to use Span-tran to evaluate my credentials since it is recognized in Naces and they can help me to evaluate n verify(146k) my transcript cus I have my transcript with me thus saving me the stress of applying for another one from my school which will cost 30k excluding the cost of sending it to them. Now I decided to use Wes cus I noticed that it is what most people use. Please can you explain to me on how to get my waec transcript. How much do you think everything will cost me? Getting my transcript from my school will cost me 30k, d cost of sending it to Wes is what I don't. Please do help a sister, I am really confused on wat to do

To get your Waec transcript, all you need to do is visit Waec office at Yaba Lagos, you'd need to get affidavit from court (this is done opposite Waec building, budget 3-5k for this) you'd need to have a copy of your Waec result, a waec result checking scratch card (WES only accepts scratch cards and not the slip WAEC sells), you'd pay WAEC 10K for confirmation of result and your WES reference number (this would be given to you by WES after you have paid) must be in all documents that you are sending. After all these, you'd have to choose your method of sending these documents to WES, PLEASE DO NOT USE REGULAR NIGERIAN POST, it can take almost two months to get to WES, Select DHL or FedEx.

Just budget 25k to 30k. You should be alright. And also make sure you visit WAEC early cos I think they close by 2pm or something.

For your University's transcript, since you know the cost already, I believe all Universities have a postal service where you can enquire about the cost to send to USA. I can't predict the cost of that because it varies from state to state.

Before proceeding with the WES icap. I did a free evaluation of my Bachelor's degree to have an idea of where I fall and here is it, please do you think I'll be able to get full funding for Masters, though I've not taken GRE yet. I'm looking to apply for Mathematics, Statistics and Computer related courses (Spring/Fall 2020). What advice do you have for me..?

Thanks!!!

Well most US schools I know require a minimum GPA of 3/4 for admission, however there are schools that accept 2.85/4 like NYIT but they are stingy with funding or other schools that accept 2.75/4. I would advise you do research online for schools that accept your GPA, get the list and contact their respective graduate coordinator to seek for graduate assistant positions and requirements. Make sure you ask for availability of funding before applying or else you'd just waste money on application fees and sending WES report to them. Also make sure you ace your GRE (310 and above with at least 160 in your Quantitative) and write Toefl (above 80 depending on your school's requirements). Get good letters of recommendation and write a well written statement of purpose. All the best.

The two bolds shows you can never predict what goes on in a VO head

It depends on the school and how you act during your interview though. But yes you can't predict what goes on in a VO's head.

By the way, I'm a huge fan. Team Lagosismymummy. I've followed this thread for years. Happy Sunday Ma.

Northeastern university is a really good school. I was once interested in going for my masters but was discouraged by the little or no funding opportunities available.

Them stingy die. But opportunities dey to work during and after masters as Boston is a nice place to be. Except for the cold.

Hello house. I just got admission at NorthEastern University and I am expecting a response from Brandeis University both in Boston. Please help with noteworthy advice while prepping for my I-20 and visa application.

Northeastern University! My school. What course were you admitted into? Did you get any Graduate Assistant position? The money needed to collect I20 no be beans o. Anyway, to get I20 for my course, you'd have to pay a tuition deposit of 100 USD (36,000 naira), you need to send them account statement of 44,784 USD (over 16m) for tuition and living expenses and attach a currency conversion form which you would be able to download from a link that would be sent to you. After submitting financial documents, your I20 will take between 4 to 6 weeks to be processed and sent to you then you can pay your Sevis fee and apply for Visa.

Getting a visa depends on so many factors. No one can predict such.
