kOOL Give me a call |

I would not that say that dslr's are a fad . I have owned my 5d mk2 for almost 2 years now and the buzz for dslr is still very strong. Dslr's have had a huge impact on the filming community. NOT BECAUSE OF HYPE but because they produce beautiful images, have swallow dof, good low light capabilities, size, cost etc. I have owned the HVX200 and hpx171 with the sgpro 35mm adapter and they just did not give me what I needed from a camera. In an studio or controlled environment they were ok but for events like weddings there were almost useless. Having to carry around a laptop to offload media just did not make sense. Now for me p2 media cards are hype. There is not much a p2 cards can do that a cf or sd card can't. Boy did the hvx200 like noise or what. Selling my p2 cameras was the best thing I ever did . They do have some good points but they were heavily outweighed by the bad ones for my needs. After selling my p2 cameras I brought the Canon XHA1s . What a massive improvement especially over the hvx200. Cheaper media, better build quality better ergonomics better image quality more custom settings. A joy to use .The only thing the p2 cameras had over the xha1 was the variable frame rates and 442 colour space which is not that much of a big deal for me. I currently own the Canon HV20 (best pound for pound camera ever made), XHA1s, Canon 7d, Canon 5D mk2 and the sgpro 35mm adapter. Now none of these cameras are perfect but between all of them they fulfil my filming needs. |
The best one is the one you can afford . |
One man's meat is another man's poison What i find interesting is that a lot of I people i know that have the hvx200,hpx171 ex1 are now shooting mostly with the 7d and the 5d. ALL camera's have their advantages and disadvantage and one should ideally pick a camera according to one's needs. |
It looks scary (she looks like a ghost) |
@st kris Hi st kris what are the manual control differences between the 7d and the 550d |
@dasa I would not say that the 7d makes my xha1 look foolish in fact far from from it. I have both the 7d and the xha1. There are some situations where the xha1 looks better and some situations where the 7d looks better. What I like about the 7d is that it's small it's good in low light if you have fast lens and you get great shallow dof . The 7d has a lot of limitations most are solvable but at a cost . All of a sudden your your 300k is now looking more like 700k. Even with it's limitations I have no regrets buying this camera |
No you resemble bubbles |
I like the track Which camera did you use Thanks |
I think it's a good thing that the camera is available to hire in Nigeria |
Anything is possible even in Nigeria |
MR MW The only other solution that I know is for you to download the file(movie) on to your hardrive Visit http://keepvid.com/ and follow the instructions on how to do this All de best & Stay Kool L_Funk |
Hi I have a 10MB broadband connection and I also sometimes have the same problem What you should do is let the video play to the end (when the red bar is all the way to the right) and then slide the small round scroll button all the way to the left to start the video again and then it should play smoothly |
You would need a faster internet connection |
I feel that creative people should always try to be creative if circumstances permit. When negotiating with clients I believe that your bargaining power lies in how much your work is appreciated and valued. Sometimes people feel that the client is doing them a favour (especially if a lot of money is involved) and so agree to impossible deadlines and ridiculously low budgets and sometimes because of this trends are set ( it becomes the norm). I for one believe that one should have very high standards the highest possible Never under value your work ( although sometimes this is easier said than done) Do and be the best you can be and take pride in your work Stay Kool L_Funk ![]() |
I think you should give paxson a loan because it seems to me that you are stinking rich Better still DASH him & me money Sorry I am a bit puzzled when you say "marketing gimmicks " Are you saying that sd cards are gimmicks Are you saying that the HMC150 is a gimmick Or are you saying that that the AVCHD codec is a gimmick All d best L_funk |
As far as I know panasonic's marketing has been what you are saying and that images from both cameras are more or less the same . I did not come to the conclusion that the hvx200a images are better than the hpx170 because of marketing gimmicks but because of footage I have seen of both cameras with my eyes I think that the greatest tool one has to judge image quality are ones eyes. I hope you appreciate that we sometimes see the same things differently |
Sorry I do not understand what you mean by AVCHD is not a 'beans' format at all. I have played around with raw AVCHD footage from the hmc151 on my pc and I have not had problems The attraction of the hmc151 to me is not image quality but cost also It's storage media is cheap. I am still doing my research and playing around with footage from different cameras to see what I like . Whatever camera I do get in the end I would defiantly want to insure it Thanks L_funk |
The Panasonics defiantly have a better film like look. I feel that you can get a softer look out of the ex1 by playing around with the picture profiles and with the addition a 35mm adapter. sojioguns I know that you have used quite a few of the pannys . Which would you say produces better images The HPX170 or the HVX200a From the footage I have seen on vimeo I would say the HVX200a Below are links to some of my fav footage from the HVX200a on vimeo http://www.vimeo.com/3408367 http://www.vimeo.com/3891105 Now when comparing image quality between the ex1 and the hvx200a .Then I would there are as good as each other. The ex1 produces great sharp images the hvx200a produces great film like images . |
I am still looking for one to buy for about £5000 I am seriously looking at The Sony Ex1, Panasonic HMC151 and the Panasonic HVX200a |
Try the Panasonic DMC-TZ5 |
Hi Guys I am thinking of buying a video camera for about 1 million Naira Can anyone recommend any good insurance companies in Lagos that will insure it Thanks |
If you have windows xp or vista try using Windows Movie Maker it's free and It's already install on your pc if you have windows xp or vista |
Hi Get the software if you don't already have it . Lynda.com do great online training check the link below http://www.lynda.com/home/ViewCourses.aspx?lpk0=332 All d best |
Nice work bro which video editor and camera did you use ? |
Good morning emeshot You would need an image editor A great one that is free is IrfanView Click the link below to download it http://download.cnet.com/IrfanView/3000-2192_4-10021962.html?tag=mncol |
Oga paxon your budget of 50k is toooooooooooooo small for tapeless or hdv in my opinion AVCHD is kool but if you or de person whey go edit no get powerful pc (we are talking quad core here) FORGET IT Plus not all NLE's support it natively (You would have to convert your footage this adds time to your workflow) Like I said AVCHD is kool but you need to have the right tools to use it One of the problems of using a small consumer camera for professional work apart from the fact that it does not look professional it that it's hard to keep your shoots steady. So you would need to invest in some kind of camera suport (steady cam or tripod with nice fluid head ) This alone go chop your 50k finish. You could make your own cheap steadycam try this link http://steadycam.org/ to find out how Then there is lighting For now I would say that dv is your best best A great dv camera that comes to mind is the Panasonic DVX100 . This camera will give you a very professional look easily to edit and it produceses mind blowing pictures . BUT it will cost you a lot more than your 50k Other great prosumer (semi professional ) cameras are canon xha1 panasonic hvx200 (P2 cards are not cheap) sony Z1 No matter how you cut it my friend 50k is toooooooooooooooooooo small All de best |
Great stuff Sir Na you dey run things Out of curiosity how much can one earn in a Nigeria for such commercial |
