Ebullience: Former Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, on Wednesday, resigned his membership from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The letter which was personally signed by the former governor and addressed to the leadership of the party in the state, stating his intention to resign his membership from the party.
The read “I hereby with utmost humility inform you of my decision to resign my membership of the PDP with effect from today, June 13, 2018, for some well-thought-out personal reasons.
“It was an honour working the many prominent Nigerians with whom I shared the PDP platform for the entire period I was in there as a member. Accept please the assurance of my very high regards.”
However, Nigerian Tribune gathered that the former governor and his followers from PDP will today (Thursday) rejoin the Labour Party.
Mimiko, who was governor of the state for two terms of eight years will be returning to the party after some four years of collapsing the structure of the LP to the PDP ahead of the 2015 general elections.
Mimiko has been keeping mute over the development as there have been speculations on his defection in the last couple of months
One of the aides of the former governor, however, confirmed that the official declaration of Mimiko and his followers will hold at the Ondo Civic Centre in Ondo town on today, Thursday.
According to him, Mimiko will register as a member of an LP in his ward tomorrow before moving to the civic centre for an official declaration.
He said, “The official declaration of Mimiko and his followers will hold at the Ondo Civic Centre in Ondo town on Thursday, and this will signal the rebuilding of the structure of the LP which was collapsed into the PDP in 2014.”
Speaking on Mimiko’s defection, the Chairman of the PDP in the state, Chief Clement Faboyede, said Mimiko’s defection would not affect the fortune of the party in the state.
Faboyede who expressed surprise at the news of former governor and leader of the party in the state said “the PDP is a very big party that can be likened to an orange tree and if you pluck from it, it does not kill the orange. Therefore the party will survive.
“Dr Mimiko is one of the big fish that left the PDP before and the party is still striving now, we will just hope all these are rumour and that it will not come to happen.
“We really love Dr Mimiko and always want to be part of his political planning. We are hoping he will not leave, and if he does, the party (PDP) will survive.
Mimiko informed us of his intention and we feel he is entitled to his own opinion and calculations and he hinged his defection on what he said was his belief and can no longer stay in PDP
He has communicated that he is going to consult, and he gathered and talk to every stratum of party members and gave reasons, while some agreed and some did not agree and we tried at our own level to discourage him but he has picked a date.
“I believe he is a member of the party until he leaves and If he leaves, good luck to him and goodbye to him. If he eventually leaves, PDP will not and will never die”
Mimiko and his supporters left the LP on October 2, 2014, to collapse the LP structure in the state into the PDP ahead of 2015 election.

mrkunlex: A beautiful woman who wanted to enlarge her breast has reportedly lost her life as a result of complication. The late June Wanza
Many are still talking about June Wanza on social media after she died last week in a botched surgery conducted by an unidentified surgeon that left her with complications.
Here is a report by SDE Kenya on what really happened:
Wanza, a mother of three, is said to have gone for a breast enlargement surgery at the clinic in Galleria Mall, Karen of Kenya where the procedure was carried out.
When she complained of abdominal pain, she was rushed to Nairobi hospital but the pain worsened and was immediately admitted to the High Dependency Unit, then the ICU.
Doctors at Nairobi hospital discovered Wanza’s intestines had been cut or punctured during the augmentation procedure and her blood pressure was dangerously low.
Following her severed intestines, waste had spilt into her abdominal cavity-the cause of the acute pains.
Wanza developed sepsis, a potentially life-threatening complication of an infection. Sepsis occurs when chemicals released into the bloodstream to fight the infection trigger inflammatory responses throughout the body.
A frantic team of experienced surgeons led by Prof Stanley Khainga attempted to save her life.
‘’It was gas gangrene which is an infection of soft tissues from bacteria on the skin. I was just called in to control that. When gas gangrene gets under the skin, it kills blood supply and eats the fat and whatever remains. If you don’t remove the dead skin then it spreads all over and you can’t control it,’’Dr Khainga said speaking to The Star.
He explained that he was intervening to control the infection.
‘’The wounds through which the surgery is done are the ones that now become the portals of entry of the bacteria. For her, it was an infection that was too fast. I was just intervening to control that and correct the shock and so on. I was in Nairobi Hospital when they called me. She was a referral.
As a consultant, I was trying to sort out the problem,’’ he explained.
The wife and mother who loved to blog about lifestyle passed away on Friday last week and will be buried on Saturday after post-mortem results. ‘’We are having the postmortem tomorrow (June 12th). Allow us to finish that process,’’ her family said through lawyer Jared Orare.

It saddened my heart since the day I saw your obituary on the platform of a very beautiful, charming and lovely sister Thonia RealAngel on Facebook while on transit, announcing your untimely death Mike.
Just ten days after your Marriage ceremony in Khana, Rivers State.
I didn't believe it until you were laid to rest finally in your home town. Eighteen years back we started this journey together to curtail the criminality that disturbs our dear great Nation Nigeria; promising to bring down crime to the lowest level, in the period of our service.
The love for security makes us to respectively took the footsteps of our beloved Dads in a different outfit, The Nigeria Police Force, with the spirit of fighting crime with the whole of our heart and strength being barrack boys, as copied from them.
Our diligence, agility, transparency, honesty and intelligence mindset makes people to hate us, as we're into "doing good to good people and doing bad to bad people". But we keep struggling in making them mute. Now your enemies have succeeded in killing you, at the same area you wedded.
Oh! What a wicked world?
Sacrificing our today for the betterment of tomorrow Nigeria will never seize bro.
Consequently your death still keeps me entangled Michael Maji.
The painful side of it all is separating you from your love ones, especially the young widow with your unborn child. I pray God Almighty to give your family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable lost. To you whom thinks you've succeeded, you and your entire household will never see peace in your life by the grace of God Almighty, until you repent.
maximunimpact: Hameed Ali, Comptroller General of Customs on Tuesday, said it is only Nigerians that are lazy that are complaining of hunger, considering the strides of President Muhammadu Buhari within three years.
He said this when he led members of the Buhari Support Group(BSG) to declare their support for the 2019 presidential ambition of President Buhari at the State House,Abuja.
“What more can we say in terms of growth of wealth. People say we are hungry, of course the lazy must be hungry because if you do not work hard, manna will not fall from heaven. So when people say we are hungry, there was never a time in Nigeria that food is dropped in the mouth of the people and there can never be,”the CG said.
The Comptroller General of Customs who attracted controversies for remaining devaint to abide by the instructions of the National Assembly members to appear in his uniforms, said left for him, Buhari should take a deserved rest from politics but considering the level of decay occassioned by previous administrations, he should go for additional 4 years.
He said,“I can enumerate what you have done in just three years of your administration but three is not enough to undo what was done in 16 years. The destruction, the monumental stealing that we have witnessed, the destruction of our structures and our system, it takes more than eight years to be able to address them and I believe in three years you have done wonderfully well.
“I have said it and I will repeat it here Mr. President with all due respect, at 70 plus, with a good retirement benefits and with your house in Daura, if I were you I will see no reason to be in this arena. But why are you here? It is because you love this great country. You left your comfort to serve Nigeria and that is why for those of us who love you for who you are said we must follow you and ensure that your second term in this country becomes a reality.
“We want to say on behalf of Nigerians that we are solidly behind you in this second term bid. People may ask why are you so passionate about change. why were you so committed in 2014 and why are you so committed in 2018, this is because you are a man of integrity, of honesty and above all Mr. President you love this great nation”.

omartins: Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday approved the construction of a flyover bridge at the Fagba intersection to ease the perennial traffic gridlock and reduce travel time within the axis.
Governor Ambode approved the construction of the Fagba Flyover Bridge after an inspection of the ongoing construction of Pen Cinema Flyover Bridge, where he observed the need to holistically address the traffic gridlock around Agege-Iju axis to make Pen Cinema Flyover Bridge more effective.
According to him, the development is in response to the various yearnings of the community in Fagba and several road users plying the Iju-Fagba axis and also in furtherance of his administration’s commitment in ensuring free flow of traffic and reducing man-hour loss across the State.
The Governor said, “Iju Road which is one of the major roads in Lagos State has over the years served as a strategic growth pole in the socio- economic landscape of the State has overgrown its present traffic carrying capacity resulting in the traffic challenges being experienced presently.
“The proposed flyover bridge at Fagba will be constructed concurrently with the ongoing Pen Cinema flyover and accelerated to minimize the inconvenience of the motoring and commuting public during the period of construction.
“The bridge which will have a dual carriageway separated by concrete median barrier will allow seamless flow of traffic into Jonathan Coker for vehicular movement from College Road/Pen Cinema and vice versa for traffic from Jonathan Coker Road that are Iju or College Road bound.”
Besides, Governor Ambode said the Fagba flyover bridge, on completion, would go a long way to improve socio-economic activities, enhance development and safety of the road users in the axis with consequent improve standard of living. It will be recalled that while the present administration has completed several road projects totaling 130km recently including the network of 21 boundary roads in Alimosho Local Government, it also has other major road projects cumulating in 120km that are currently ongoing across the State.
As long as this is commendable, the timing is what I have issues with. He said the construction will run concurrently with the Pen Cinema bridge. How will people cope? People have been making detours, going through Ogba to Fagba to avoid Pen Cinema but what happens when he starts the Fagba bridge? All is well
From the 'dollar' angle, they are fraudsters. That is how they go about defrauding unsuspecting victims. They even rape most of them. These people are everywhere but they are more notorious around Fagba (Iju railway line). That I can say is probably their headquarters
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is in the news again. This time not for scoring and outrageous goal or dropping another incredibly conceited quote. He was sent off in the LA Galaxy’s game against Montreal Impact for slapping Michael Petrasso who had stepped on his foot in what looked like an accidental act. However, Zlatan reacted violently by slapping the Montreal Player in the head before going down in an apparent attempt to feign injury.
Following a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review, he was shown a red card.

The angry mob decided to humiliate her in public as they stripped her unclad and paraded her round the market to serve as a deterrent to others.
Thank God they didn't set her ablaze. It could have been worse. She has probably learnt her lesson and hopefully, will desist from such a shameful act in the future.
information1: Omoyele Sowore, the CEO of Sahara Reporters and also one of the Nigerians who has announced his intention to run for presidency come 2019 elections is certain Buhari will not win the elections again due to his inability to keep his promises to the people.
Sowore said it while appearing on Politics Today aired on Channels Television yesterday. In his words;“ President Buhari, having disappointed as a leader and failed a majority of Nigerians will lose in 2019.
What were his plans for coming to power? He promised security, but the people of Dapchi know better.
“Boko Haram is still flourishing. He promised to make the economy better and fight corruption. But you know what the corruption is all about.”
I am not a fan of Sowore but he is doing Nigeria a big favour. Even if he won't win, he is at least taking the campaign to the people and letting them know who not to vote for.
freeze001: Change was supposed to make things better rather they are worse. Now they have withdrawn over $450 million from the ECA for aircraft that will not be delivered till 2020 without parliamentary approval as a means of buying a visit with Trump.
That is the simple point I do raise with the sympathizers of admin. You promised to do things differently (Change) but the reverse is the case. Such a shame!
Speaking at the Commonwealth Business Forum in Westminster on Wednesday, the president said a lot of Nigerian youths have not been to school and they want everything free.
“About the economy, we have a very young population, our population is estimated conservatively to be 180 million. This is a very conservative one,” Buhari said.
“More than 60 percent of the population is below 30, a lot of them haven’t been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria is an oil producing country, therefore, they should sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare, education free.”
The President said he has done well on the three cardinal points of his campaign, including economy and security.
“Recently, my minister for information was constrained to answer a question on people accusing this administration of doing nothing, he said ‘let Nigerians be reminded what position we were before May 2015, what condition we are now, and what we have achieved between then and now and I think people were impressed with the answer.
“For security, we have done quite well. Economy, we are doing very well, especially with agriculture; we are providing soft loans, and guarantee is that you have to belong to a certain locality and you have got land, you don’t have to go to the bank and need a physical collateral. I think a lot is being done.”
The president is expected to meet with business leaders and other heads of state as the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting progress through the week
I am sure he is referring to the 15m senseless ones who voted him in. And coming from a man who can't provide his WAEC certificate that people beg you to come and collect at Ogba makes it more funny..
Angelanest: These 4 young guys were shocked following the unexpected favor they received after they were arrested for begging near a church in Lagos. According to reports, the boys came all the way from Ibadan to Lagos to seek for jobs, unfortunately they could not get a job and they decided to start begging from passersby.
On Sunday morning, they came to INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church to beg for money to feed themselves from the members. The church members later raised an alarm because they thought the boys were thieves as they were arrested and taken to the nearest police Station.
But when the church leader, Primate Babatunde Elijah Ayodele heard what happened to these guys, he asked that the arrested boys be released and brought to his service immediately where he blessed them with cash and other goodies.
This is a country of hypocrites. The President, with his statement that the killers were Muammar Gaddafi trained, has called the world to his incompetence. How do foreigners come into your country and slaughter your citizens. Isn't that an indictment on the President? Yeye dey smell
A house wife, Asma’u Sulaiman, on Thursday prayed a Sharia court at Magajin Gari Kaduna to dissolve her marriage with her husband over frequent demand for anal sex.
Mrs. Suleiman also told the court that her husband, Nura Ahmad, has been assaulting and accusing her of infidelity.
“There was a time I went to my parents house over a misunderstanding I had with my husband, when I returned, he accused me of aborting my pregnancy which was not true,” she told the court.
The complainant said she came to court to get justice as she could no longer endure the pain and was scared of contracting disease from anal sex.
However, Mr Ahmad denied the allegations made against him, saying they were untrue.
The judge, Musa Sa’ad, asked the woman if she had any witness that would testify for her and she answered in affirmative except for the intimacy scene.
The judge then adjourned the case to April 18 for the complainant to present her witnesses. (NAN)
IamHeWrites: A Nigerian lady identified as Daratayo has taken to her Instagram page to narrate her ordeal on how she was robbed on the Eko Bridge.
According to Dara, she was mercilessly slapped, beaten and injured in the process just because she refused to hand over her properties to the thieves.
She however blamed the Nigerian government for allowing tanker drivers park along the bridge, which consequently caused the traffic gridlock every morning and thereby giving these criminals the liberty to rob commuters without any confrontation.
Read what she wrote below; "Today, I got robbed on Eko bridge. Not the beginning of eko bridge, Not the end of eko bridge but RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF EKO BRIDGE! Today I was mercilessly slapped around, harmed and beaten. Today, a fellow human being beat me up so bad because I refused to give them what I worked so hard for. Today, a fellow human being derived joy in stripping me of my hard earned money, bag and personal belongings. Today, a fellow youth looked at me, considered me a prey and broke my glass windows to rob me and went batshit crazy when I won’t drop my phone or car keys.
Thank you my Nigerian government for doing nothing about the menace that these trailers on eko bridge are causing that caused so much traffic at 6.30am which allowed these miscreants to achieve their evil plans
Thank you my Nigerian government for finally making me lose hope in looking forward to a better Nigeria.
And most of all, Thank you Lagos Government and Lagos Police for lying to us about safeguarding this bridge, thereby giving us false hope that we were somehow safe.
And for those thieves, I wish upon you Zechariah 5:3, Galatians 6:7 and most of all Proverbs 3:33!! Amen! #Lagos"
This is sad, when citizens get robbed at will. Thank God she wasn't harmed or maimed. The Lagos State government is really trying though, especially in the area of security in the state. RRS bikes patrol the said bridge often. This isolated case is just a call on them to step up their efforts and ensure nothing like that happens again.
Dailyhappenings: The Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University has finally reacted to the scandalous reports of one of its professors requesting an exchange of sex for pass marks.
On Wednesday, April 11, in a statement personally signed and released to the public, the Vice Chancellor, Eyitope Ogunbodede said that investigation of identifying the person involved is currently in progress.
He said: “In full compliance to all applicable laws, the university has set up a high powered committee to investigate the allegation and submit its report within one week. Anyone found culpable will be dealt with decisively.
“The university considers sexual harassment as an offence punishable contrary to the code of conduct and anti-sexual harassment policy. The university will never condone such act by any staff or students.”
Similarly, the chairman of Congress of University Academics, Obafemi Awolowo University,Mr Niyi Sunmonu, maintained that if it is established that the leaked audio is true, the perpetrator is not fit to be in the academic environment.“Lecturers are expected to mould the lives of students.”
Recall that we had reported earlier Professor Akindele’s wife spoke on the scandal and blamed the devil for it.
The wife of the OAU lecturer has denied the allegations against him, saying the devil is out to tarnish her husband’s reputation.
The professor who is a clergyman at the Anglican Diocese of Ife, Osun State, was caught in a recorded phone conversation, demanding five rounds of sex from a female student before she can pass his course.
According to Premium times, some of his church members expressed shock at the development.
One of the church members said they went to the professor’s house immediately the news broke on social media and met his wife who blamed the devil.
”When we heard the news, some of us were surprised. We were at his house very early this (Tuesday) morning but only met his wife who said the devil is at work to soil the name of her husband.” he said
This is how the situation will pan out. The Prof will be suspended for like 6 months.. The lady will be found guilty of soliciting for marks. She will likely be punished for a semester. The course in question, she has failed already. The final scenario is that she will be a victim forever within that academic circle in the said Uni. God help everybody
