I know your laptop has a fan that blows out the heat, but trust me, if you'd be gaming on the system it wouldn't be enough.

Just get an external fan to compliment your internal fan, else you want to replace your processor every 3 months. No let wetin do me do you ooo. External fan shouldn't be more than 2k, but a fairly used core i7 processor ( because it's quite impossible getting a new one, else you're buying abroad) is at least 7k, so do the maths.

New original battery 16k. It should last for at least 4 hours plus. But my reasons for not getting a new one is because I don't trust my vendor to give me what I want, and secondly, we do have steady light here, at least 20 hours a day.
And disgustingly expensive. Most especially Intel.

My dear Sis, Anyone that wants to watch war news or other negativities, Al Jazeera will get that person entertained for more than one hour nonstop...And they are always there to cover it...whenever I thought of it, I thank God that television is not monopoly ...Just Imagine that Al Jazeera was the only news channel in the whole world...

I wish I can see one of their staff member and ask if those negativities do have some impact on their mind and heart in their normal day to day activities... How do one sleep at night just thinking of negative things to report nonstop embarassed
I thought it's only me that noticed this. They've even calmed down self, back when I was younger they'd always show footage of people getting executed in Libya. Though I'm not really sure if they showed the real executions. Even that time gadaffi was mobbed, they showed the scene live cry

Hi Poco!
Please what tech skill can I learn with a smartphone, because getting a laptop is not so feasible for me as I am still a struggling student.
Please an answer will be well appreciated. Thank you!
You can learn bash scripting, C, a bit of Linux system administration, C++, python, Golang, Perl, PHP, Lua etc. Download termux and learn. You can even learn those bogus overbloated frameworks like Django.

there is no much future in tech like you presume. the next 30 years will show that. if you are wise and want relevance, always stick to anything human-centric. technology changes, humans never change. health will continue to worsen as we move into the future, go and get involved in health related domains with a focus on mitigation and care and you will have a future everyone will envy. leave the Fad called tech, it doesn't hold as much water as people ascribe it.
It's not a fad. But you're completely right. If a revolution in the tech world happens, thousands will lose their jobs because they aren't good.

Y'all Nigerians should rest. It is NOT for everybody.

I pity the gullible ones that will subject themselves to peer pressure and do it while being frustrated.

Give it a rest PLEASE!

Next!
What's even worse is that most of them are script kiddies who have little to no idea on how shit really works. They just have their mouths plugged into the asses of big corporations, happily swallowing whatever crap they churn out in the name of frameworks and scripts. I'm not being condescending to y'all, but come on, let's be factual. If most of the companies that y'all are working cared about nicely optimised and fast code, most of y'all won't have jobs.

Ubuntu also has it's rolling release. But the common ones are the LTS version. That's why am find it hard to understand why that is special.
That's if you choose to download from the unstable repos lipsrsealed

but this doesn't make it special
It does. Debian based distros (Ubuntu for example) are fixed point release distros which means it's only the latest stable versions of software you'll get. On the other hand rolling release doesn't care about stability, you get the latest as is. For example, there was a recent bug in GRUB, the only people who suffered this bug where the user's of rolling release distros like Manjaro and Arch.

My next system would probably be ThinkPad T14. I heard they have the ones that comes with AMD chip.

[b[Nothing is special o it's just like any other Linux distro only you get to choose what you want on your system.[/b]
Not really true. All Linux systems are highly customisable, but Arch is a rolling release distro. This means that you'll always get the latest release of all software on your system (even with the security vulnerabilities and bugsgrin) I'm dumping that shit when I get a new system and going for Mint. Ubuntu is the worst distro I've ever used.

What's so special about this arch linux

I might just install it on my PC and check it out
grin come on go and install Mint. Last month the GRUB update caused a booting issue for many people. I never update since I read that thing. What's even worse is that the latest Linux kernel is available on Arch and many people are keeping their fingers crossed that shit won't break down to pieces.

A good profile;
- Professional profile picture. Many Nigerians forget that they know Nigeria is a poor country. You will now go and snap near rusted burglary proof. cry
- Work experience
- Portfolio
- Short, captivating and error free profile overview.

Good proposal;
- Salutation (preferably with client’s name)
- Heading

- Demonstrate you read and understood the vacancy posting.

- SOLUTION. I see many people talking about where they schooled and how they schooled there. Except you went to Harvard or Princeton, no one cares. Until I was given a full-time role, my boss never asked if I went to university. So rather than whine about where you schooled, tell the client how you would do this job. Be specific, mention the tools you would use and give a basic process flow. Do this without saying too much. Just enough to make them want you.

- Portfolio. Attach your portfolio as a Google link. That way it is a click away.

- Call to action. Tell the client you are open to an interview. It shows CONFIDENCE. Many freelancers shy away from interviews.

- Close the cover letter.
Best Regards
Kwin Poco
As always: clear, smart and thorough. Thank you.

Glad to hear that. I love to focus on how to fix things. So while I would always tell new freelancers of the glass ceiling, I always tell them they can do it too. My baby got an interview invitation yesterday and I told her whether she gets the job or not, she is doing something right! When I saw her proposal, I was impressed.

November would make it a year for me and it has been wonderful.

Some of them think remote work is a joke. cheesy
Ehen. About that proposal and profile stuff. What makes a good proposal and profile?

Those are the reasons. Your fellow Nigerians that are charging those rates also started from the bottom. They faced the challenges you are currently complaining off. The cycle would break with just one job. This job would boost your confidence level and you would see a reason to push further.

Also be sure you are applying right. I have read many proposals/profiles of fellow Nigerians and they are TRASH.
Honestly. You nailed it.

Upwork is the best my guy. Fiverr is a no go area (their system is the most uninspiring and dullest shit I've ever seen in my life), freelancer is uncharted territory, and I'm not so sure about Guru. So just go with upwork.

I am not honestly sure these are the reasons.
I also cannot preach about what method others use to break the cycle of getting rejected.
But if you check freelancers by country, you see our fellow country men charging $3 to $100 per hour and they have jobs on their profile to prove they are being hired.

There are always exceptions to the rule. That's life. You just have to prove yourself and work really hard.

Freelancing on upworks, it's very difficult to land a job if you are a Nigerian. I don't know why
Because your fellow Nigerians have made it made it impossible. It's either the government dishing out terrible policies that will harm freelancers or your average idiot running scams online. There's honestly nothing good about being a Nigerian.
