PenuelFarms: It's funny the way people sound very affirmative, even in their ignorance. The maintenance of solar is very cheap. There are batteries now that can last up to 10-12 years while solar panels last up to 25 years. Go and find out what India is doing with PV solar. The country installed solar capacity that is over 5 times Nigeria's national grid capacity, just within a short period. Please tell me the price of those batteries that can last for 10-25 years. |

fergie001: Not everything is scam. Which battery are you buying or which panels are you getting?
Panels are not determined by their sizes by sight but by their kilowatts peak rating.
That village, we are talking about, you are not aware if they use refrigerators....this is a remote community without grid.
That medium room, what do they use? You don't know.....moreover, the pix might just be for illustration purposes.
They basically will have just CFLs, radio, maybe TV, Phone and that's all! When you are told a community don't have power for close to a century, that community isn't rural but VERY REMOTE.
The FG will get the good ones, and you will see the difference.
Do you set up dams, where there is no water? Guy villiage people have lots of appliances oh. No underestimate them. They also have lots of gens like us in the city. They have Tv's , sound sytem, fride, acs, etc. Unless their are no youths in that village. |

Simplyleo: Well, half loaf is better than none, at least this can illuminate a few houses in the community. Of course, if the solar panel on display is what they are talking about, I strongly doubt they can power 3 refrigerators.
But lemme see how some people who lack water for over 30 years will condemn this development.
I understand in some of their communities, na firewood dem dey use as light at night. A Nigerian dude created a stove that can generate electricity to charge phones while cooking. It converts heat energy to power. They can covert the heat generated by their firewood to real electricity. FG no go se this dude. FG must do the right thing. |

Simplyleo: Pls which solar panel maintenance is "way too high"?
Stop making comments on what you know nothing about. Have you used sole bf? Forget all the hype? It requires lots of batteries to run at night. Quality batteries that can power a home are not so cheap. Naija govt has been installing solar street lights and co for years and it always end in tears. |
Politics › Re: After 100 Years Without Electricity, Solar Mini Grid Excites Kwara Community by LikeAking: 9:26pm On Apr 15, 2021 |
fergie001: Yes, it can power the whole village because it depends on their load demand, and not the size of the village. This must have been put into consideration during the feasibility study of this project.
Again, the maintenance cost of RE systems are far less than Diesel Generators or fossil-driven conventional electricity.
The major issues of RE surrounds their high first capital cost, stochasticity and expertise (in general). I believe this has been taken care of.
I feel there should be more spacing, and the panels on the left should be tilted at an angle equivalent to the latitude of the location. I don't think that's around 6°.....(the pix might just be for illustration though).
It is a laudable project. This REA/EEP is one area I don't know how to blame the FG for, they are doing well here. God forbid!. That thing you see there cant even power medium family house room well. Na scam. Good solar batteries are very expensive and you know how battery they take run down na? Replacement na whala. Solar is not an option. Only the very rich should use it. India has been installing portable dams for various rural communities. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Muslims Are Better Giver Than Christians by LikeAking: 9:20pm On Apr 15, 2021 |
OP you are 100% percent right.
But mind you, this has to do with our various cultures plus religion.
The story might be different for Christians in Eroupe and co,
Christians are never satisfied of money.
You will find a Christian who have built 40 houses still complaining of money like a poor man.
Christians are only trained to give to their churches.
The Muslims in Nigeria are better selfless givers than Christians.
Most christian dads in Nigeria find it difficult to even give their wife and children money. They are always greedy for more money, their song is I dont have money, even when they have.
When I was in secondary school the Muslim kids in my class bring bigger money for snacks and co from home, same with uni.
They are better givers.
What we have done south is an array of greedy parents and children jointly called Christians, etc.
Northern Muslims in power also help their brothers and sisters than their christian counterparts.
Oga Dangote was given 500 K by his uncle to start life, how many christian uncles down south can do that?
Lets change, abeg. |

Solar panels for the masses is a big waste for now.
The maintenance is way too high.

seunayantokun: Yes, it can't solve a lot of problems but some, especially where and when vital information is needed to make certain key decisions. We have seen it work in other parts of the world.
And like you said, the problem of Nigeria is the government of Nigeria. Then, who set up the government? How did we come to the point that evil people are occupying government positions? Do we want to get out of it or live with it? God will never change it if we have decided to sleep with it. We speak to and follow HIM but confront the giant. Do u know the meaning of organised crime. All these things dont work. The USA for eg still has very high murder rates despite thier top notch security. If the people are bad all these efforts are a big waste. |

seunayantokun: The terrorists won't do that. They only want to use your vital information to deal with you if you oppose them. You no read INEC talk say im no go use am for voters registration but go use birth certificates when we know say birth registration for Nigeria na scam. They are never bent towards anything good but evil.
Use NIN so we know who are voting and/ or being voted for;
Use NIN so that people can vote anywhere in the country;
Use NIN so we can deal with underage voting which some over there are addicted to;
Use NIN so we can do mobile voting, e-voting, voting by mail, etc;
Use NIN so we can deal with electoral violence and unnecessary bloodshed - security agencies will have less work to do when everyone doesn't go out to queue up or cause mayhem;
Use NIN so we can deal with financial crimes;
Use NIN so we can have correct intelligence on everyone killing and kidnapping and other terrorists. In fact, with NIN properly utilised, someone like Pantami won't have a hiding place, no matter how hard they try. NIN cant solve any problem. The problem of this world is the government. No let them deceive u. |

When he finally released his track I rushed to download it and I was surprised hearing the rubbish message he was passing across about a lady wanting to collect his money without him touching her, does he look like Charity.
I don't know how many times we need to explain to these guys that spending on a lady doesn't make you feel entitled to a woman's body simple. why can't guys normalize spending on women without demanding anything in return? Very irritating "as you want money na so I get konji" Mr man go and get a girlfriend then normalize rendering help for females without demanding anything simple. Mscheeew U and ur new music friend should organise a date and sort things out in za oza room. |
