So, can one cancel Lagos appointment and reschedule Abuja with the same MRV without having to pay new one, and you've not cancel or reschedule before?

Yes. I did that.

Thank you. I haven't rescheduled before. I will try it. But do I need to fill another DS-160 form?

No.

Please, do you know if I will have to pay another visa fee if I switch from Lagos to Abuja after scheduling a date in Abuja? I am asking because I need an earlier date.

If you have cancelled or rescheduled before, then you'd need to pay VISA fee cuz one can only cancel or reschedule once. If you've not, you can terminate your Lagos appointment and book with Abuja if you're sure of early available dates in Abuja.

My Friend applied for emergency appointment this morning as early as 8am and got an approval mail few minutes ago.

I'm surprised cuz mine took 9days before the Abuja Embassy got back to me.

I'm so happy for him.

Hello house, when filling the DS-160, is it proper to write just the course of study only, or I should write my concentration in bracket?

Thanks.

Is it the VO at Stand 6 with the Camouflage nose mask? I was denied by him without deep questioning so I can't even say the reason. Most people are suggesting it's due to weak ties.

Please, what do you mean by weak ties?

Do you have anybody living in the US already?

When checking to reschedule appointments, see the attachment of a notice there.

Does it mean that once you exceed the viewing time of that page you can no longer even check for earliest dates??

I think there's a limit for a day. If you reach that limit, you'd be barred from it till the following date.

Oh I see. That means I'm yet to get the second mail.

How did you see the new dates? Was the calendar showing when you logged in or you clicked on the "reschedule appointment" button first?

I saw it here on Nairaland. Someone posted that there are now available dates for December 11 in Lagos. So I terminated my Abuja appointment immediately and booked with Lagos.

So please can I go ahead and terminate my present appointment for April next year and begin to look for dates?? What do u advise??

Honestly, I don't know what to say. Just keep checking your dashboard and nairaland to know when they would make more dates available for December.

I rescheduled mine in October and it was only Lagos that had date for December then. I reside in Abuja and wanted an interview with the Abuja Embassy but now I'll be going to Lagos.

Just keep your hope alive that they would make dates available for December or latest, 1st week of January.

Mine was denied as well. Just saw the email. It is well. I wasn't given a reason for the denial though. Do they give reasons

I was given reason. They sent me two different mails. One was the denial without reason. The other was with reason that I failed to meet the necessary requirements for emergency appointment which are I-20 & SEVIS FEE.

I mailed them with the SEVIS FEE RECEIPT but they replied that I have exhausted my emergency request slot, that it's one per MRV receipt.

I was lucky to see dates in December, so I terminated my March appointment and rescheduled for December 11th.

Me: Yes. I've been to the US, UK, UAE

VO: (pauses for a while) when was the last time you were in the US?
Me: 2017

VO: I intend to issue your Visa
Me:, Thank you

VO: here are your documents blah blah blah
Me: Thank you

I noticed my interview was a lot shorter than most other people. I completed my interview before the two people in front of me on the queue.

The Lady that's going for PHD in chemistry (knows a little too much about nanochemistry,  likes mixing chemicals and has never blown up a building), I tried waiting for you but an officer told me to keep moving. I really hope your friend and the third guy with us also got accepted.

I also noticed two things I thought I should share

1. After an applicant answered a question the VO asked, the next thing the VO said was "how long did you practice that speech?". He eventually got the Visa but I believe the VO tried asking questions he wouldn't expect him to have prepared for cause further down the interview, after answering a question, the VO asked whether he prepared that and he was like "NO" and The VO enthusiasticly said "Yeah I like it when we just talk".

2. An applicant who I think was going for Chemistry was asked what "entropy" was. He was also asked which had more entropy between "air" and one other option I didn't hear.

Lastly, I observed there were more acceptance than rejection during my time in the hall.

Congratulations!

I'm going to UIUC too. My interview is 11th December.

Good afternoon fellow Nairalanders,

Been following this thread for sometime and I can say you guys are really doing a wonderful job. I have really learnt a lot on this thread. I have a question that needs an urgent answer please.

I hope to attend my interview soon but my main problem is that i am a security personnel and will be attending the interview from work and in my uniform since its around 12pm. My question is don't you think the uniform may work against me during the interview? I would have gone to change to mufti but that may not be possible since am at work.

Awaiting your reply and thanks.

Hello bro,

This is a life changing opportunity and I believe you don't wanna loose it. I would advise that you take mufty to work and change towards your interview time.
.I believe you should dress smart and nice.

My humble opinion.

What is the name of the school? I have friends applying and I might recommend your school...

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

The college of Law gives merit based scholarships which comes together with your admission.
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by Lildairo(m): 5:07am On Nov 01, 2020
Well, it depends on the school. My admission came with huge funding and everything was within two weeks.

I don't think there is a need to lie. Honesty matters a lot. There's no crime in applying to one University and applying to one University does not reduce your chances of getting your VISA approved.

Ajibade105:
You ask him to say he was given admission and funding within two weeks. The VO is not stupid not to know it is a lie.

Good day guys,
I have my F1 visa interview coming up next week.
My concerns are I only applied to one university, and I got admission with full funding.

If I am asked by the VO how many sch I applied to
and how can I defend myself

Just be honest in your interview. Many people who applied to only one school have gotten their VISA approved.

You can say you were given admission with full funding within two weeks of submitting your application, hence, there was no need to apply to any other school, since you've gotten what you want.

Shikina.
