In 2012 I applied for visa lottery but I didn't check if I was selected or not and since my record is with them won't that raise a red flag if I apply to study in US now. Please, I need advice/views on what my chances are to get visa.

I think you should be fine. 2012 is long time ago and Nigeria has been removed from the pool over ten years ago.

The information/ community you seek is here on this thread. Read past pages and ask questions as much as possible. Folks here will help you. Your GPA is quite low. I’ll advise you carry out credential evaluation via www.Wes.org and write GRE or GMAT as the case may be.

The utility of this thread has diminished over time. It used to be populated by highly motivated, industrious folks who were diligently looking to school outside Nigeria. Today it’s mostly lazy folks who want you to do the search for them and tell them what to say. As soon as they get “their” visa, they disappear.

You're very correct, Twoods. Most people don't wanna do any research on their own to get the needed information. That's why not so many visa approval transcripts are been shared recently. Peeps need to be genuine and ready to put the efforts.

I guess the best way to this is by reviewing previous interview anscripts on this thread. After reviewing them, try and write out your own interview questions and provide suitable answers , then post it on the thread for folks here to help you check them. You can also prepare yourself through the mirror every morning by answering those interview questions.

You have a decent profile. Even with that, you still need to do some work yourself. search for top tie schools and safe schools and apply.
Make good use of Google.com. No one is gonna do this for you.

Me: it’s an LLM program in Intellectual property law, it’s an area of law made to protect the rights of creatives and this includes their craft, literal work or music in order for their rights to not be infringed by unauthorized persons
VO: okay, so who is finding this program
Me: my parents and brother
VO: what do they do for a living starting with your brother
Me: my brother is a cyber security expert at XYZ(big multinational TECH company), my mum is a textile trader and my dad retired as a GM of a company into his commercial farming business
VO: what is their monthly income
Me: my brother’s annual income...
VO: no I want his monthly income
Me: oh his monthly income is about $15,000, my mum’s monthly depends on the quantity of textiles sold a month but about N2.5m and my dad is in his harvest period and this month alone he made N20m from sales of his produce
VO: okay, how much do you make a month?

How have you guys been keeping up?

So sorry I couldn't reply PMs. Please, kindly post your enquiries here, and they'd be sorted by the experienced ones here. Besides, others too will learn.

I flew through Lufthansa airlines from Abuja (10:30pm) on the 29th September to Frankfort in Germany, and United Airlines from Frankfort to Chicago, and from Chicago to Baltimore Washington international Airport. The total number of hours was 23hrs plus few minutes (stop overs inclusive )

So I arrived US here on the 30th September through Chicago.
Since my arrival, I've been busy with G.A, assignments, class work, documentation and all.

I wanna let you know again that the effort is worth it, and you shouldn't relent. There will be light at the end of the tunnel.

***PS. Please, if you're resuming late, make sure it's clearly stated on your I-20 and you have an authorization letter issued to you to that effect.
I was so much scrutinised that they even had to call my Graduate Coordinator (I didn't even know this until I got to school) to verify my letter was actually written and signed by him.
I spent up to 30 minutes with the Chicago Police at the POE. I later learnt so many people are been turned back at the POE, and I was there so confident I didn't even know.

Congratulations!!! This is some great news to start the week. You could fly New York and book your connecting flight to be about 6hours from when you arrive JFK. It should be cheaper however, longer since almost every international airlines that flies Nigeria flies JFK too.

I want to give glory and adoration to almighty God, the beginning and the end.

Fast forward to this morning.
After dressing up, I came outside and took a bolt ride to diplomatic drive. I got there around 6:45am. The hustlers at the gate chop me small today, because I forgot to print out my late arrival authorization letter given to me by my Graduate Coordinator, so I printed just a page #3,000.
I also needed to keep my phone as phone's ain't allowed inside the embassy, I was also charged #1,500.
Then, we proceeded to the que for documentation and all.

Now, the interview proper.
I was interviewed by a while man in his mid 40s

V.O: Pass me your passport and i20 please
Me: I did

V.O : Your left four fingers, right fingers and tumbs please.

Me : Okay (I did for all)

V.O: Have you travelled out of Nigeria before?

Me: No, I haven't had any reason to.

V·o: Good, What's your highest qualification ?

Me: I have a bachelor of engineering from a federal university here in Nigeria, (I mentioned it)

V.o: So, what have been up to since you finished ?

Me: After graduating in 2015, I went for my NYSC in Port HARCOURT between 2016 and 2017, and I started working in my current company since Nov. 2017.

V.O: What's your role there? (While asking all these questions, he was looking into his PC and typing for very long time before asking the next question )

Me: I work as a field engineer.(I explained my duties)

V.O :What will you do after this program ?

Me: After completing this program, I'll come back to my job to occupy a higher position. (As I was saying it, he had stopped typing and now was looking at my face, me too was looking straight to his eyes, eyeball to eyeball)

V.O: Okay, good good (gesculating with his hands, I wan laugh here )

V.O: How did you here about this school and how many school did you apply to?

Me: I searched through Google.com, and I applied to 2 schools; Bowling green state university and Morgan State University. So I went for MSU since I got a full scholarship there.

V.O: Good, very good. Do you have any siblings in USA ?
Me: No, I dont

V.O: What about your parents, are they here and what do they do?

Me: My dad is here in Nigeria, he's a retiree and my mum is late.

V.O: Oh, so sorry about your mum. But I can see tha your school has commenced fall lectures since August 23rd, so what do you think?

Me: Yes, I commenced with them since August 23rd, and I have a late arrival authorization letter issued by my Graduate Coordinator here with me. (me bringing it out)

V.O: Okay, that's good. Now I can see all is set and good.

Me: Smilling sheepishly . . .

V.O: I'll be approving your visa, I'll be collecting your passport, you can visits www.tarveldocs.com.n . . .blablabla. . I Couldn't here anything again.

Now, here is the question, is there any need to edit my 160 form? Even though I've already submitted it since August.

I just received my form I-20 2 days ago with fully funded Masters program with no deficit. I booked an appointment yesterday and requested for an emergency appointment, but I haven't heard any response from the Abuja embassy. Do you suggest I still wait for the embassy, or start fall 2021 class from Nigeria and join them in spring 2022, or defer the admission.

The resumption date is 23rd August.

Contact/ call him to inform the graduate school to process and send your GA/TA assistantship letter to your email.

I believe the best one can do is to wait and hope for the best, since they've promised to send you the official docs later. What I'm not sure of is whether they will be starting the classes on 23rd August with the way they're wasting much time on application and funding processing.
