Ondo state Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s son, Babajide Akeredolu has threatened to sue the state deputy,governor, Agboola Ajayi over alleged false accusation that he siphoned the sum of N433 million from the State’s coffers.

Borno state governor, Babagana Zulum has reacted to the death of Nigerian Army senior officer, Col. Dahiru Bako, who was killed in an ambush by Boko Haram insurgents.

Bako was killed on Monday while leading his troops on a clearance at Sabon Gari-Wajiroko axis in Damboa Local Government Area of the state.

As the governorship election in Edo state is currently ongoing, suspected members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, leaders in Esan West Local Government Area, LGA, were on Saturday caught throwing money at some group of voters, mostly women.

27-year-old man have been allegedly shot dead by a soldier during an argument over why he was not wearing a face mask in line with Covid-19 regulations.



Police spokesperson Brig Motlafela Mojapelo, who confirmed the report on Friday, said the incident happened at a shopping complex in Mogwadi, Limpopo, in South Africa on Thursday, September 17.



“Members of the national defence force were reportedly on duty monitoring Covid-19 compliance in the area when they approached a group of people who were not wearing face masks,” Mojapelo said on Friday.



“When asked why they were not wearing masks, an argument allegedly ensued and one of the soldiers shot the victim. The injured 27-year-old man was rushed to hospital.





“The soldier, aged 29, was arrested and charged with attempted murder,” said Mojapelo.




The soldier is due to appear in the Morebeng magistrate’s court on Friday.

Paul Enenche, the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Christian Centre, has lambasted popular controversial On-Air Presenter, Daddy Freeze over his attacks on pastors in Nigeria.

The first Vice President of Afghanistan, Amrullah Saleh, was on Wednesday hit by a roadside bomb in Kabul.



The explosion killed at least 10 people and wounded 15, including the VP’s bodyguards had the Vice President, Saleh, 49, escaped with minor injuries.

Saleh, in a video, confirmed he sustained a minor burn on his face and an injury to his hand.

Justice Tanko Muhammad, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, will on Thursday swear in 85 judges to serve on the election petition tribunal panels set up for the upcoming governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states as well as other legislative elections in different parts of the country.

The Media Officer of the Court of Appeal, Sa’adatu Kachalla, said in a statement that the inauguration would take place at the ceremonial hall of the Supreme Court in Abuja on Thursday.


The Court of Appeal is the secretariat of election petition affairs in the country, and its President, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, is statutorily responsible for the selection of judges to serve on the panels of the election tribunals.



The Edo State governorship will hold on September 19, 2020, while that of Ondo State will hold on October 10, 2020.

On Friday the 4th of September 2020, the UK Court granted permission to Nigeria to argue the $9.6 billion arbitral award made against the federal government.

Umar Gwandu, spokesman to the attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, made this known in a statement.

The court allowed Nigeria to bring the challenge outside the normal time limits, due to the evidence presented on fraud, Gwandu said.

Nigerian Defence Headquarters has revealed that the Air Component of Operation Thunder Strike has neutralized several armed bandits in airstrikes on their camps in the Kuduru and Kwaimbana forest areas of Kaduna State.

The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, in a statement in Abuja on Friday, said the successes were achieved through separate airstrikes carried out on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

Enenche explained that the attacks were launched on the heels of credible intelligence reports indicating that the two locations were being used as staging areas by the bandits.



According to him, the attack on the Kuduru Forest hideout was executed after aerial reconnaissance missions observed a significant number of armed bandits around some compounds in a small settlement within the forest.

According to him, the Air Component dispatched the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) jets and helicopter gunships to attack the location.

“The attack aircraft took turns in strafing the target area leading to the neutralization of several of the bandits as well as damage to their dwellings.

“At the Kwaimbana Forest where some bandits were seen along with many rustled cattle around some huts and makeshift structures, the NAF jets and helicopter gunships engaged the area in successive passes, taking out some of the bandits,” he said.
