Nigeria’s national security adviser, Babagana Monguno, has accused President Mohammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, of undue and dangerous interference on matters bordering on national security.

Consequently, Mr Monguno has fired a warning memo to all service chiefs to desist from taking further directives from Mr Kyari, according to documents seen by PREMIUM TIMES.

Mr Monguno said Mr Kyari’s directives to service chiefs were sometimes issued without the knowledge much less approval of the president, a practice he said has added to government’s failure to contain insecurity.

“Chief of staff to the president is not a presiding head of security, neither is he sworn to an oath of defending the country,” Mr Monguno, a retired major-general, said in the December 9, 2019, letter.

“As such, unprofessional practices such as presiding over meetings with service chiefs and heads of security organisations as well as ambassadors and high commissioners to the exclusion of the NSA and/or supervising ministers are a violation of the Constitution and directly undermine the authority of Mr President.

A video circulating online captures the moment a lady engaged in a fight with a bus conductor over ten Naira change in Onitsha, Anambra State.

It was gathered that the fight broke out between the duo at Upper Iweka road after the bus conductor allegedly refused to give her back her change.

The NBA has renamed the trophy awarded to the Most Valuable Player of the All-Star Game after the late Kobe Bryant. Commissioner Adam Silver revealed the decision to rebrand the trophy as the Kobe Bryant All-Star Game MVP Award prior to Saturday’s skills competitions.

The award, previously known as the Kia NBA All-Star Game MVP Award, will honor Bryant permanently.


Bryant played in 18 NBA All-Star Games over the course of his 20-year career and won the MVP in a record-tying four of those contests. It’s presumed that he would have earned 19 nods straight had it not been for the lockout shortened 1998-99 campaign that didn’t include an All-Star Weekend.

There was chaos in Osogbo the Osun State capital on Friday as the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdrosheed Akanbi, allegedly beat up the Agbowu of Ogbagbaa, Oba Dhirulahi Akinropo. .

The victim, Oba Akinropo, alleged that the attack occurred in the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Zone 11, Bashir Makama, where the AIG summoned other monarchs from Iwoland to a peace meeting to resolve a land tussle among royal fathers within the Iwo axis.

CityMirro reports that it was during the meeting where other monarchs, top police and government officers were present, that Oba Akanbi allegedly rose up from his seat and descended on Oba Akinropo.

Nigerian soldiers serving in the North East have opposed the action of the Federal government as they allegedly released 1,400 ”repentant” Boko Haram suspects recently under the Operation Safe Corridor programme, which was launched in 2016.



Operation Safe Corridor is an initiative of the military for the deradicalisation and rehabilitation of all ex-Boko Haram members.



The Federal government reportedly released the rehabilitated sect members in Borno state and this was confirmed by the commissioner of Information in Borno state, Babakura Jato. Jato in a chat with newsmen, said those rehabiliated suspects were released after it was discovered that they were neither members of the sect or were discovered to be children of Boko Haram members.



Reacting to the move, soldiers, who confirmed the release of the suspects to TheCable, said they did not understand why suspected Boko Haram members who were capturing and killing soldiers, are being released in large numbers.

Nigerians on social media are furious following the release of a viral video showing a Nigerian father refusing medical assistance for his ailing daughter, Precious, just because his religious belief.

The father of the sick child who happens to be a member of the Jehovah Witness church said he is against against blood transfusion on his sick daughter.



The video was shared by activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, who met with the parents in Sapele, Delta state.



Precious suffers from Hydrocephalus and might need blood transfusion if a surgery is carried out on her.


Her father in a chat with Harrison, said he is not opposed to medical help for his daughter but what he will never consent to is for a blood transfusion to be done on his 1 year and 7 months old daughter.

A social media user, Victor Udoh has shared a viral story of how two secondary school girls were caught after selling their friend to a ritualist for just N50,000.

According to Udoh, the two girls ran out of luck after they picked the same taxi that took them to where they sold their friend while returning.


The taxi driver then noticed that they were both sharing money without the third girl.

Tragedy struck at Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos state on Saturday as a 40 feet container fell and cut off a lady’s leg.

The lady was only freed from the wreckage of the fallen container when Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) came to her rescue.

As Storm Ciara threatens to hit Britain with gusts of 90mph expected in some areas wind warnings are in place across the country this morning.

Hundreds of flights into and out of European airports were cancelled as Britain’s biggest storm in seven years swept into Scotland, with the rest of the UK being issued with several weather warnings.

Today streets across the country were flooded with some people even having to be rescued by emergency workers from their cars.

This is while some parks, including Richmond Park in London, were closed this morning due to the weather conditions, and many joggers and dog walkers were pictured waiting outside the gates for the space to open.

Avanti West Coast said no trains will run north of Preston on Sunday until further notice because of the impact of Storm Ciara.

The Man City vs. West Ham match, due to be held at the Ethiad stadium this afternoon has also been postponed because of the weather.

In Scotland, officials put in place a 40mph speed limit on the Queensferry Crossing, and ferry services were also cancelled after a weather warning for gusts of up to 75mph was issued by the Met Office.

Yellow weather warnings cover the whole UK, with the heaviest rain expected over high ground where 50-70mm is expected widely with as much as 100mm in a few locations.

Forecasters have warned that flying debris could lead to injuries or danger to life, with possible damage to buildings and a chance of power cuts.

Power networks were also bracing for blackouts from gales wreaking havoc on overhead electric cables, and reassured the public they have crews on standby.

The looming disruption in the air has already seen cancellations and delays at UK airports.

Two serving NYSC members servicing in Kano state are set to get married on Friday February 7, after meeting in NYSC's orientation camp in Kano almost a year ago. The couple to be are identified as Mohammed Alhaji-Musa and Hauwa Yahaya-Bagudu.

A 10-year-old boy has been accused of impregnating a 13-year-old girl in Russia and this news since surfacing on the internet has taken many by surprise.
